There are treasures down deep
and I know how to swim
Love for me, was never skin-deep
disoriented, I dived out of a whim

the sea will never betray me
I don't fear lack of breath
I know you will embrace me
drenched in love, even after my *death

The sun shall ascend in the morning, in a benediction of golden light.
Birdsong shall scatter through the air as brightly as sunlight on water,
butterflies shall rise in ragged flight, seeking out meadow nectars,
as peace breaks out throughout the peaks and valleys.

The man who works the land shall return, hungry and weary from his toil
to find his house still standing, as it always was before.
The rivers shall leap and dance over rocks and crash into waterfall ravines,
and no influx of blood shall taint their waters.

Peace shall resound in the calls of birds and laughter of children;
man shall lie with woman in untroubled spiritual and physical accord;
curve into hollow to curve, softly entwining and cradled in love,
and no sudden sounds shall disturb their loving.

The moon shall rise in the evening; swathed in luminescent clouds.
Retiring songs of birds shall herald the coming of twilight.
Peaceful breath of slumber shall rise and fall as night descends,
and all closed eyes shall be open again at sunrise.

Babies - of what do they dream?
What thoughts play behind those closed eyes,
Those eyes so like others before
Unfocused and newly revealed?

What is it in holding a child
That brings such a tranquility?
That puts the world's problems at bay
And shows what is truly at stake?

Perhaps when they dream they become
The person they one day shall be
In full philosophical garb
So leading us to what will come

Or maybe it simply is shapes
And colors so formless and free
A way to make sense of the world
They sample with unfocused eyes

This was written shortly after and in honor of the birth of my then-husband's younger niece's first child.
I have read this in public but this is the first time it appears in print.

I miss the afternoon walks at the beach.
Tight skin from salty air.
Grubby feet and fingers from the beach sand.
The sound of peace, tranquility and solace.
The smell of ancient infinity.
It did not taste this bitter.

I learnt patience from the fishermen.
I will therefore hold o to it,
I will live my way into 2016,
For I will be with you.

In a dream I inevitably heard her voice
Singing a melody that pierced through the noise
Gentle notes from her golden harp were of a morning breeze
On the highest cloud singing without cease,
Her melody got lower as I moved closer
Her positive energy was just an explicit composure
Her presence gave out an eternal bliss
Nearly fell as she blew off a kiss
She slowly moved her hand on my palm
In a micro-second my broken soul was at calm
I rose like a flower on the first of spring,
She vanished in the clouds and left behind a feather of her wing
But her sweet melody continued ringing, eternally
As I greeted the morning breeze, happily...

Oh thy sea,
Perched on damp rocks beside you,
Rocks slightly drier than my heart
Captivated, I come to you seeking solace.
Listening to music you are a maestro of,
Talking to the waves,
Revealing them all my,
Joys and sorrows,
Fears and inhibitions.

Prattling together like old pals lost in chat
Meeting o'er a cup of serenity
The cool breeze ruffles my hair,
Almost whispering "Hey, you are not alone";
The waves send my way slight splashes,
Waking me up from my daydreams,
All say I am lost,
I say I am searching.

As I lay by your shore,
With a heart pretty sore
You fill it with your wisdom,
I see you,
Clashing, chasing, fighting the rocks
You too do fall,
Only to come back again stronger
Not letting their strength,
O'erpower your will to rise higher
I see you strive o'er and o'er again
Cautioning me to not be hopeless
But to get up and try again.

thank you.
Look off into the distance from a quiet library
Peer outside the window, and let your thoughts fly free
Look past the horizon, and you will truly see
How beautiful and wonderful that great big world will be
Then go down to the river, where once, there sat, just me,
And listen to the birds that chirp their tranquil melody
Then go home to your lover, and drink your herbal tea
And when you go to bed at night, you’ll finally be at peace
Running at night
With a full moonlight
Its peaceful and bright
But ends with spite
Jogging toward the evening star
Much more tranquil than using a car
But when you get home
With no where to roam
The morning will come too
And with that, the death of you
Then the eve comes again
And you rejoin your fellow friends
And then you are revived again
And then you live your lives as human
Peace and quiet can be a storm
I’ve seen it once or twice
The raging winds of solitude
The stillness, cold as ice
Raining emptiness into my head
And flooding it with despair
I once welcomed tranquility
And now…
I dont even dare

Humanity is a single tear of eternity
dropping to cement like rain
decimating the smallest scrap of matter
ingrained into the pavement
for only a moment.
Humanity is radiant
and soaked in sadness
a star among stars.
Humanity is humanity,
songs inside symphonies,
telephone calls faint in
circuit across America.
kisses invisible in darkness
coverings warm and soft.
Humanity is.
Just is.
