The lonely spider,
inhabits the still places
until they are gone.
Orchid T Aspen Dec 2019
From the vault of my popcorn ceiling
the widow was swaying on a strand
and striking at her master net,
tweaking its barest glint,
all to lure death closer
to steep it in glue
well enough that she can wait now.

,,
It happened in my head
as I listened to her legs
that I would die,
if I could only look down
and find her sneaking in my palm.

,,
I know she is far too beautiful
to be waited on like this,
to be stranded on a string
in the thinned air.
I think I make her miserable.

A letter to the spider living in my shower:

Dear Margaret,
I get lonely when you’re not around, then a little sad.
When you reappear it turns my Earth.

With love,

her fingers crawled
around my mouth
like a spider

zephyr passes over the shimmering abyss
plots formed from images vacated

it’s what i breathe!

things that flash through my mind:
contemplative lips of a forgotten dancer,
bangs brushed aside,
a glance over shoulder…

                      ~

a spider beckoned me,
to show me the mandala he calls home.
he took what looked to be a deep sigh, and said,

inside and out, we all have gifts
to be given, or shown, or flashed through thoughts.

i asked if he could give me a tour.

big bright green spider
on my drivers-side window-
you held me hostage
5/21/2018 - Poetry form: Haiku - I parked my car and there's a stare down between me and spidey. I didn't know when I opened the door if it would drop inside the car (not good) or outside (preferable). I was only held hostage for 3 or so minutes until I made my move. Success! Both of us walked away from the car in different directions :) - Copyright © Mark Toney | Year Posted 2018

Even though sometimes I like to believe I can help,
No one wants me around.

So they squash and trample me,
that’s why I hide in the corners now.
I have a web of lies, secrets, truths and spirits. But you’ll never know which is which.

'Twas after a frosty night,
I caught a glimpse of sunlight,
Sparkling on a spider web,
Miracle, enough said,
Patterns so intricate,
Did not brush aside, delicate,
Yes, 'twas after a frosty night,
Spied a web of sheer delight!
Feedback welcome.
