Glorious dots swirl above our heads like millions of
glowing bees as we spin arms outstretched.

The air is warm while the earth is cool beneath bare feet
And a light mist rises among the pecan orchard trees.

I want to keep this place living in our minds.  We can
Never grow old in this childish embrace of memory.

I wanted to be there when your mind stopped wandering and you remembers who your real friends were.
I wanted to trust that you would come back to me because this is how things worked.
But love and family and friends only go so far these days.
Betrayal and lack of honesty is what will come out to play.
I wanted to see you remember that there was a time you were happy but I was wrong.,
Because even though he broke your heart you ran back every time.
And like a worn our recording of your favorite song... The record skipped a few beats so I could sing on.
You were my best friend and now your just dust in the wind.
I hope a boy was worth the end of a friendship.

Wrapped in a corset
Made from society
Unable to be free
Suppressing my identity

I mask my personality
With everyone else
But it is only around you
That I can be myself

Who else will I unravel to
At the end of the day?
For only you,
Actually listen to what I say

And only you
Judge me not
With your bold presence
Marking each room
With your personal essence

I follow your every move
With great admiration
You give hope to the quiet ones
With courageous inspiration

And where would I be
If God had not gifted you to me?
And how would I survive
Without you in my life?

Sometimes I swear
You're the older one
With wisdom so deep
You were born to stun

Taking no for an answer
Is not an option for you
And you stand your ground
Regardless of what they do

So I'll sit back and aspire
To be as rooted as you
With you alongside me
This world will make do
Dedicated to my sister and best friend in the whole world. My other half. Love you always, Sarah.

I don't know
where she is
or where She is
as my grandmother
peers out the window
into the heavenly
landscape of her garden
two white butterflies dance
mirroring the light *****
of the others wings.
breathless
my grandmother’s eyes turn misty
hand on her heart
grasping my fingers into knots
her voice clipped
there they are,
and she clutches onto me
as the sisters whirl themselves
around the ashen and lilies

'Frozen' is a perfect picture,
of the childhood I lived.
To have an older sister,
who will not take or give.

Shut the door in my face
when I wanted to play,
Locked in her room
telling me to go away.

She was not scared of magic,
or ice that could hurt me.
She never opened up,
like Elsa in the movie.

I wish I could help,
go and find her in the snow.
I would go anywhere for her
no matter how old I grow.

I want to build the snowman,
I want to save the day,
But true love can't conquer
when I'm pushed away.

She remains locked up,
with a spirit so mean
She will always remain

You
are a dancing
dandelion
lioness,
lounging lovely
in the liquid
sun rays,
licking power off your paws.
An audience stands
awestruck as
you
parade through town
picking primroses
to make them all
their own crowns.
Tell me
tenderly,
as we sip blackberry wine,
about tearing up
the space-time continuum
and jumping,
cannonball,
into oblivion.
You,
miss maestro,
make marvelous
mountaintop melodies,
collaborating with the
yodelers and the
midnight goat herders
as the common man
in the valley
bites mouthfuls
out of your music
to warm his belly
and bring him to bed.
You
are a fantastic
flying
fingerling potato,
finding your way
deep in the ground,
growing
outwards and beautiful,
towards the surface and the center.
Your eyebrows could level lava spewing volcanoes!
Your laughter leads lambs back to
their loving homes from
the fertile fields they roam!
You,
vivacious Venus,
waltz in from the kitchen
calling out harmonies to the song birds
and slingshotting kisses
to all of your faithful
misters and misses.
Your bag may hang heavy,
but you have so many hands to help carry it.
You,
my dear,
are the sun
beaming magnificent.
A poem for my soul sister, the sun goddess. A poem for you, too, when you need it
