Sea
He stared down
into the dark, twisting waves, as if
a voice spoke to him from
                                                         the watery depths
                             below.

It seemed to pull him in and
                                                                                              pool in him.
It swam circles
          in his curiosity.

The Sun stabbed at the waves, washing rainbows     over
glimmering abalone.
                Translucent bubbles danced
in its light.
Fishbones lay quietly on the ocean floor, forgotten.
                                                                                   Starfish whispered to him, tales
of how they had lost their arms to the
creatures that walk in the sun.

Urchins complained about the oil pooling in their waters.
Sharks gave him the silent treatment.
And despite the fact that he too had legs and walked in the sunlight,

he knew he was not made for the sun,
                      but for the sea.
And the waves whispered his name with
salt and foam.
This poem was written in 2016.
"Sea" was published in Rose State College's Pegasus 2016.

If I must go blind
to stare into the sun,
SO be it.
I'll squint my eyes,
making rainbows with my lashes
In your eyes I see it
You smile at the world but deep inside, I see the sadness and hurt that within you resides.

I see your soul and the truth in your eyes.
You want to give up and I know you struggle so much.

You feel hopeless at times and can't see for yourself, that your life is worth so much more than what you see in your mind. You're so beautiful you just don't see it or believe it but don't you realise that no one is perfect? Your flaws, your thoughts and everything else in between is what makes you so perfect in my eyes.

You smile at the world with the pain in your eyes but I know deep down inside there's a part of you that wants to keep fighting, to feel alive.

You don't have to say a word, I feel it when you're around, I know you want happiness and some sunshine in your life, to make the darkest clouds disappear and make you feel like there's hope but you see there's no rainbows without storms.

I can't promise you the world, but all that I know is that I'll always be with you no matter how far we go. There's no giving up on you I swear it, it's true cause in your eyes I see a soul that is pure.

Oil on the water

Gentle spilling colours

Tumbled greens and inky blues

Fade to yellow and pinky hues

Filling the puddle

A requiem for rainbows
Even rainbows have to die sometime

Colors are merely light
manifested by the sun.
Prisms travel on a beam,
a rainbow of reflections.

Earth is just the canvas
it uses to create
brilliant diamond hues
of painted landscapes.

Polychromatic masterpiece
and every shade is new;
emerald blades of grass
with rhinestone beaded dew.

A bejeweled hummingbird
buzzes through the air,
magenta flapping feathers
aviate without a care.

Frosted icing mountain tops
shimmer in the background
aquamarine oceans
glitter waves come crashing down.

Turquoise dancing blooms
twirl along with the breeze.
Golden butterscotch buttercups
join the choreography.

Bronzed crystal sand
radiate in the heat
cooled with cobalt waters
by tinted tides that reach.

Succulent strawberries
that are painted ruby red,
purple sequenced pomegranates
dance in my head.

A kaleidoscope of colors
provided by the sun.
Put here for our enjoyment;
put here for everyone.

Oh, so many rainbows!
Oh, so little time!
Please enjoy the tapestry!
Don’t let it pass you by!
"Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide" - Kermit the Frog

You are my rainbow connection
My red, my blue
My yellow, all of the hues
Now I’ve fallen under your spell
Hear the stories they will soon tell
Of the rainbow far up in the sky
A cloud that will never run dry
“Someday you’ll find it, the rainbow connection.”

Inspired by Kermit The Frog’s song ☺️🌈
