In explosive light and fire
The shadows danced around her smile.
But I fashioned crutches with my power;
Left crutch-marks in the lonely sand.
And miles grew between our hands.

I fell down in my quiet place
And worked the garden every hour.
But couldn't grow a single thing
No birds sang or sheltered in my land:
Just miles grew between our hands.
So should a seed
does grow must leave
its home:

Earthly walls,
empty shells
he covers himself with.

In nakedness
must Adam gather up
sewn up leaves.

While surrendering
into the dark
and foreboding earth:

Miles wide and miles deep.
Alone, into the sweltering
and blistering heat of the sun.

Armed with but
a leaf for Mercy!
cries his clothelessness to the wind.

So must a flood pass
once, twice, over and endure
in callousness and tenderness.

A little taste of tarmac, Bobby
Let me spin my wheels
A little taste of the long flat road
I’ve forgotten how it feels

A little taste of tarmac, Bobby
Make my chainwheel hum
A little taste of the up hill grind
Thirty miles and some

A little taste of tarmac, Bobby
Way out among the farms
A little taste of dust on your lips
My metal soul would calm

Climb up onto the saddle, Bobby
Clip into the pedals tight
Feel my frame respond to you
You always crank me right

Stay with me in the saddle, Bobby
Our ride will be as sweet
As the wash of lactic acid
From your shoulders to your feet

It’s good with you on my saddle, Bobby
I know you feel the same
You push my pedals hard now
And laughing call my name

Lean easy in those corners, Bobby
Accelerating the while
My frame is all aglow now
On your face I sense a smile

Flying home with you, Bobby
You get the adrenaline kick
It makes you sprint the last half mile
And smooth out the left hand flick

A little taste of tarmac, Bobby
I am waiting stem unbowed
Come find me soon and ride me
Before my rims corrode

A little taste of tarmac, Bobby
Make me spin my wheels
A little taste of any road
Or forget how good it feels.
If a bicycle could have a soul this is a poem that my favorite bike 'Loretta' would have written to me after a long period of neglect as I recovered from some injury or other.

Shutter my eyes on the frozen deserts
opening to swallow
all the memories you left inside:
a heart stripped of dreams,
by the pain of quicksilver moments
slipped past us in Time's disguise.

Interminable thoughts play-rewind-play-rewind
Of feelings dragging like anxiety:
We could be whole
if the world put us together with
Time, Love and impassioned Tethers.

Instead I'm trailing along
Dragging my iced feathers,
leaving two sets of footprints
upon the oceans and deserts of ice and shards.
Incapable of defrosting
These beating, screaming hearts.

no matter where life takes me
no matter where life takes you
no matter how many the miles between
remember that we are both
underneath the same sky
and for that I will be grateful.

Dear you,
It is only the first few nights
But I am already so alone.
I know it will be a while before we meet again,
But I don't know how I am going to go on with you gone.
I miss you every minute and think about where you may be.
I am wishing you the best.
Please do not forget me, for you mean too much for me to lose you.
Please come back soon.
But Dear you,
I know you are happy, miles away from me, but please just don't forget about our times together.
I hope you think of me often, as I think of you.
And finally, Dear you,
On your journey, as I hope you don't forget me,
I also hope you remember who you are.
Love me.

Miles and borders
wedges

Wanderlust children
locked in the Sun's hula hoop
claim visions of sugarplum prairies

Downplayed mountains
speckle the globe
like tectonic acne
Topography's tease
The paper was so promising

Dimensions spawn
in the tatters of ambition
like fused particles of
colloquial bridges

Keyboards sprout vocal chords
and philosophies huddle under
shy amusement
humming to the hymn of a discovery
wrapped up in the chords
of enraptured choirs of fingertips
