You lied with grace.
I bowed with love.

You took my fire,
left me ash.

I saw your face,
and lost my faith.

You left.
Still,
you called me
light.
Cadmus May 18
Love…

I owe you an apology
not for what I did,
but for what your dreams said I did.

Somewhere in your sleep,
I lost my mind, my vows,
and apparently my clothes.

You woke with distance in your eyes,
and I knew:
I’d betrayed you in a world
I never touched.

So let me say this
I’m sorry for the man
your dream invented.

And I promise,
as long as you sleep without nightmares,
I’ll stay faithful…

even in your imagination.
Sometimes we carry our fears into dreams, and wake with the ache of something that never happened. Love means apologizing anyway , not for guilt, but for care. Because even imagined hurt deserves a real embrace.

you’ve been there
for me,

when i needed
you the most.

and i know
not all stories
have happy endings—

but i’m not
quite ready
to say goodbye.

your love is
more pure
than any human
could imagine.

so when i looked
into your little eyes,

i promised
to give you
the best years

of your golden life.

we’ve been through
so much,

and truth is,
i still need
you in mine.

so i’ll hold
your paws
close to my heart—

because letting go
is the hardest part.

i’m not ready
to say goodbye.

so please,
stay with me

tonight.
written for my labrador, age 11, who’s nearing his final chapter. i hope he still has a little bit of time left. i love him so much.

inspired by backstreet boys’ “i need you tonight.”

this is a poem about love that never speaks, but always stays.
because sometimes, letting go means loving harder.

You gave me a list
A million reasons to leave
But the only reason I stayed
Was you
Oh, how much easier it is to drown,
To be scattered between winds and storms,
To be mere fragments in a raging ocean,
Than to have my path rewritten in the moment of a lover’s betrayal,
My loyalty slaughtered by disappointment.
Is this my true love?
My heart still recites poems in your shadow,
Still finds solace in your kindness—
Which of your pulses flows in my veins?
Your pain festers like a bitter betrayal,
Leaving its scars deep within me.
Have you forgotten you were once the glowing light of my heart?
Or did you simply ignore the flame of my love,
A fire that words fail to describe?
A love that, when it meets the salty sea,
Turns its ripples sweet.
O ungrateful one, I thought you were my healer,
My full moon in the darkness, my shield in war—
Yet you betrayed me with the malice of passion,
And carried the remnants of my loyalty in your hollow heart.
Go—
For you have shattered my heart.
Go—
And let my sorrow be your only memory of me.
I retreat into silence,
Writing my own elegy, my own epic.
Oh night, come to me,
For I have nothing but your solace.
If the moon shone for me,
I would not need its light.
Oh night, tell me, was he faithful to you?
The answer came: No—he betrayed you too.
You, my heart—do not tremble.
Tell me truly, did you ever love him?
Do you still beat with the warmth of his love?
If so, then you are not my heart—
You belong to him!
How can you, my heart,
Accept the wound of betrayal without protest?
He veils his ingratitude behind a shield of tears.
He plunged a dagger between my ribs
And then the wound deepened—
Blood flowed.
He pulled me from the heights
And cast me to the ground.
He stole my wakefulness
Yet gave me no peace in return.
A foolish fate trampled me under its weight.
My tears softened his eyelids,
Yet his lips never lost their smile.
Do I see the awakening of death,
Or merely the slumber of life?
Where is my despair?
It has passed—
As has my desire.
My existence is neither darkness nor light.
Everything that once was, is no longer—
And I am no longer me.
In the shade, I burn with the fire of the sun,
And my conscience pulls me toward a passion devoid of conscience.
And to where?
Do not ask, for I do not know my fate.
He destroyed me because I once loved him.
And even now, his love pulses within you.
You are not my heart—
You are his!
If you’re reading this, I hope you never experience such pain.
No more though I pine, may I rip from breast and thought
This blind obedience to kind that claims all that is naught
What tranche belies and thus survives divided from the whole
Ere natures heart must thus depart from customary roles
As fleeting breaths do evanesce in splintered harmony
Bids archeus farewell to dwell in brief obscurity
What balm may stem the march of time, what plea redeems the day
Who dares conspire and thus oppose the gyre of Sedens way

Eyes won't wonder,
If heart finds a home.
Let me make one thing clear today,
Like the lion’s roar at the break of day.
If my worth you fail to see,
then like the wind, you drift from me.
Loyalty is strong, like ancient stone,
and those who stray must walk alone.

People come and people go,
like rivers where the wild reeds grow.
But if you stand, then stand with pride,
like mighty baobabs side by side.
Respect is not a gift, but earned,
like coal from the wood when burned.

I do not chase, I do not plead,
my heart is not a thing of need.
If you walk, then go your way,
no words will beg for you to stay.
The ones who matter, firm remain,
like endless stars in the night’s domain.

A stranger you will be to me,
like lost footprints washed to sea.
Deceit is but a fleeting shade,
exposed beneath the sun’s cruel blade.
Respect is deep, like mountain roots,
and falsehood bears no lasting fruits.

I do not play the games of those,
who shift like winds where no one knows.
I stand with those whose hearts are true,
whose souls shine bright like morning dew.
Like warriors bound by blood and trust,
I walk with strength, I rise from dust.

So if you’re here, then stand with grace,
this path we walk is not a race.
It’s not a right to walk beside,
but earned with truth and worn with pride.
I give my love to those who see,
that worth is built on loyalty.

The presence of the Evergreen

how boldly she stands
commanding only
that we are grateful
for her beauty

how effortlessly she sways
in whispers
making pure
the air we breathe

how tenderly her pyramidal silhouette
fills the surrounding domain
with protection and hope

how humbly she invites
the glow of
sunset's golden embers
to ignite her pine candles
accenting her adorned humility

Ever reminding us
the nature of peace
Ever since I was a little girl
there was an Evergreen across the street
Day by day we watched each other grow
Only in recent years did I realize how she far surpassed me in length
all 50 feet of her
I began to notice at sunset how she would call to me to look at her, though not with words,
but golden hues igniting her branches
like a warm fire scouting out my soul
The peace I felt was like a spiritual awakening
that which only nature could supply

One day someone informed me
they were taking her down
I became grief-stricken over it..
like the loss of a close friend
I've had a longing for her ever since
I have never experienced another tree call to me in that way, though nature continues
to call

My fantasy self once thought

It's easier to be a shifter
You scream mate
like a second nature

Nothing or no one,
Could detach you from them

How do i know to stick my neck out
For one person for all eternity

Reality check was hard
But I needed all of it

Romance was the last hope
I had in some sort of love, hope

It's hard to be bold
Because i want to
Scratch that need to be taken care of
