Carrot arepas on the table,
Busy hands in the kitchen,
Little feet run amok across the house,
And my mouth is full.

They are delicious,
She is the ideal wife,
They are curious,
And are a part of me.

Venezuela gave me their food,
Also her,
Between us both we received them,
And God is the gift giver!
Arepas are a delicious treat from Venezuela/Colombia.

not long ago
I met woman with a secret
we talked ideas and shared words
she lent me a book and gave me
movies she had made
we met a few times and discussed things
once I said that I was a bit down
she said "We have to be positive"

now she's dead
that was her C secret
nobody knew but one good friend
who found my number on her phone

so I say thank you
to the world
for people like that
in my life
who create gifts
rather than gripe

margaret you really mattered
to me
True story, lovely person and I am glad I am open to such people

She gave me a stone,
And her turkey wish-bone,
She'd been saving.
Then presented a pen
She'd hid in her sock
Under her bed,
In her special box.
These are her gifts;
They're all that she's got.
Gifts from a child,
Giving and smiling.
She's not eccentric,
To her they're aesthetic;
If I'm worthy,
Tomorrow,
There's a blue-ribbon stick.
There is a voice that shouts to my heart,
"You won't succeed; just don't start."
But there is whisper from my brain,
"If you fail you get a chance to start again."
Both these voices are mine
It's true.
Believe in yourself;
your greatest enemy is you.

trying to look up....and to write my way out of a funk
Ma Cherie May 2016
Morning comes with fear tow...
with what light bears to all unknown.

Had last night forboding dreams...
Hear the water of trickling streams.

This calls away the night concerns...
to what there is this day to learn.

What riddles does this day in store...
soon thoughts of life return once more.

To hear the distant spring Birds song..
and dawns that bird- been gone quite long..
with the croaking frogs down by pond...

Now back at home where they belong...
these Sounds the Farm's been waiting on.

So smiling in her stoic way-
Now looking forward to this day..
it's time to shelve her timid thoughts- instead sets mind to things she ought

Put on boots this early morn'- as Mother's calf just newly born.
A baby sprung-  internal nest..
now lays down beside his Mother's chest.

Life on Farm starts out Anew with thoughts of hope and joy imbued.

To hear my sweet
granddaughter's voice
is such a gift
to me.
So far away
she lives
her precious face
I seldom see.

Tonight I got to
talk to her
How blessed a time
it was...
She read me
stories and prayers
and even the
23rd Psalm!

My heart yearns so
that I'd be there to
read her bedtime stories
but such a gift it was....
that she read them
to me!

You give me your credit cards and grant me with extraordinary gifts,
When all I want is your love and a goodnight kiss.

LIFE IS JUST A BOWL OF CHERRIES,
WHY NOT ORANGES, APPLES OR KIWI FRUIT ?
A PERSON IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY HE KEEPS,
WHO  CHOOSES WHO? THERE MAY BE LITTLE YOU CAN DO.

BEWARE OF GREEKS BEARING GIFTS,
WITH THE STATE OF THEIR ECONOMY, THERE ARE NONE LEFT,
A WOMAN IS A WOMAN AND A CIGAR IS A SMOKE,
ANY TAKERS FOR THIS ONE - MUST HAVE BEEN A ***.

HE WHO CAN DOES, HE WHO CAN NOT TEACHES,
SO I DID MANY THINGS AND MY WIFE LECTURES ( ME ),
ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT,
WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, ENOUGH.

LIGHTNING NEVER STRIKES TWICE IN THE SAME PLACE,
IT DID, IT DOES AND THE SECOND TIME WAS WORSE.
