What is buried so deep inside
A memory so entwined
many lines and differing angles
The same frame can be seen
Differently with different lenses
Different outcome for every scene
Can alter all the things
And I would not remain
as the person I am

We entwine our hearts,
growing into each other.
So when things fall apart,
and the other decides to pull away,
we're ripping ourselves up by the roots,
and cutting into our own skin,
to get a taste of freedom
In the sunlight.

I was once your sunlight....

You won't need water from the rain
we kissed so dearly in.
My tears will forever be enough
to watch you grow,
while I sit alone,
giving you the water from my body
and watching you thrive
as I shrivel and die
at your
feet.

These are the hands that will guide you to greatness,
These are the hands that will stay through the years,
These are the hands that will celebrate good times,
And these are the hands that will wipe away tears.

These are the hands that will love you forever;
When you are weak they will help you feel strong,
And, right now, since these hands are entwined together
These hands are precisely where they belong
Recently I was asked to write and perform a hand-binding wedding ceremony for two of the loveliest people I know while I was dressed as a dragon. It's definitely one of the best things I've ever done, and I doubt I'll ever do anything like it again! This is the poem I wrote for the special moment.

You've been sweet talking
Me lullabies
And holding my hand
When it's dark outside.
You've been so steady
When I've stumbled
Holding me in
When I start to crumble.
You've been a reminder
Of my flaws
And why they don't matter
The way they did before.
You've been broken and twisted
Yet simple and kind
So like me where it matters
Our lives entwined.
I've loved and despised you
Had you in my brain
You've kept me close by
And pushed me away.
We've fallen and risen
Survived a spiral, a whirl
A story, so simple,
About a boy and girl.

Im naked and exposed,
My vulnerabilities taking hold.
But I have no bounds, I knew this when I fell.
For his aura lured me in,
His beautiful soul caught hold of mine.
For we were pulled together by invisable twine.
Ravelled, but I could have broke free.
For it was where I wanted to be, where I wanted to stay.
Blinded by his memphis,
Locked in by his gaze.
Just for one sweet moment, be entangled in one anothers love.
For love it was. But love it couldnt be.
For you didn't belong to me, I had to set you free.
The right love, at the wrong time.
Maybe in another life you would have been mine.
But for now I'll just wonder, I'll wonder what could have been.

We spread our blanket on uneven
ground, bodies embracing in descent,
They lay on the boxcar floor,
                        fingers twisted, clutching slats.
transfixed by the spell of evening,
limbs entwined, interlaced,
                        Barbed wire pressed punctured palms
                        faces creased as old photographs.
We stretched in dawn’s light,
poured coffee out of cups,
and left as it merged with the dust.
                         bones upheave turf and loam
                         fingers grasping, sheathed in soil.

At the time of writing, the war in former Yugoslavia was occurring. Pictures of ethnic extermination camps, barbed write, mass graves, Happeing again. Happening despite the awareness and vows after the holocaust, that such things must never be allowed to happen again. An awareness that had grown stale. Do the horrors of history, even in our ignorance or innocence, ultimately make even the smallest of our acts, some how complicit?

You love green
And evergreen sheds cloth only to Fire...

* *

Colors only make sense
Beneath the touch of your hands

*

Desert sands are clothes
******* an oasis
Warmth divine in your colors

*

You are not my glue… you are not my stitches… you are the wholeness that my wishes dared reach for… the one for which I’m healing...

* *

Your salt is flowing into the dark seas of my eyes… and behind the horizon of my lips, a smile is waiting to rise for you...
***strips of ozone coming together*** translated from Bulgarian; originally:

I told you before
you are lovely
You said something like
no never not me

Well then maybe
I will take a photo
so you can know
how by this man's eyes
You are seen

A masterpiece of composition
Perfect like beautiful days

A song that maybe only
I will be humming
in all the loveliest
of lovely ways

Beauty is held
by the beholder
So that all might not
have to agree

Lovely is held
in a separate place
So that heartstrings
entwined believe

I will tell you again
You are lovely
Maybe you'll think
Then so you say

We will not need
to look at a photo
Yet you will know
You are truly lovely
In such a beautiful way.
