The fences are on fire
Can’t you feel it?
The bonfire in your nostrils
Time standing by your side,
Whispering “quickly, love” and,
In the distance, lips part and quake
They—you—(what difference will it make?)
Tremble like a lake of sulfur,
A lake of liquified lavender
But darker—wine, yes, wine in its cellar
Can’t you feel it?
The ashes pasting themselves over the moon
The midnight sun, the falling stars at noon
Time grabs your hand this time,
“No more waiting, my love” or maybe
It was “No more hating, my love”
You clench your free hand
You bite your lip
You drench you drench you drench
Your body in acid in courage in rage
Can’t you feel it?

The fences are on fire
And love’s coming for you

Remember when everything was fine
Never thought about you being mine
When I had the courage to look in your eye
When it wasn't scary for us to spend time

Remember when I couldn't take the hint
I found out how you felt 'bout me
And the promises didnt turn out to be-
And then you came up looking at me

Looking at me, looking at me...
The hints..

"Will I make it?"
the heart cries.

A thousand tries,
yet still, I fall.

"Should I lower my expectations?"
it whispers.

"No, not over until you win,"
the mind insists,
like night cradles the sky;
light will come soon.
To those chasing their dreams, remember: there's always light at the end of the tunnel for those who remain true to their hard work and dedication.

In the garden where dreams once bloomed
Silent shadows of hope are tombed
Fractured petals drift in the breeze
Whispers of what could have been with ease

Each choice a step on a winding road
Laden with burdens, a heavy load
The laughter once bright now tinged with doubt
As echoes of plans unravel, fade out

A painter's brush, once bold and free
Now hesitates where colors disagree
A canvas flaws with streaks of gray
Reflects the heart, led astray

In the dance of days, we stumble and sway
Navigating the ruins of dreams gone astray
With every misstep, a lesson unfolds
In the carpet woven with threads of gold

Yet in failures clutch, we learn to arise
Through broken paths, we grow wise
For in each setback, a spark ignites
In the darkest of nights we reclaim our light

So raise a glass to the roads untraveled
To the hopes once cherished, now unraveled
For life's failures are chapters, not the end
In the grand story, they help us amend

Embrace the flaws, the bends and breaks
In the ashes of sorrow, resilience awakes
With every setback, let courage ignite
For the heart still beats and the dawn brings new light
In the hush of night, as shadows play,
A man drifts to sleep, where dreams hold sway.
In the realm of slumber, he finds his place,
A twisted world, a mirror maze.

Each pane reflects a life unknown,
Endless corridors where silence is grown.
But in the depths of this shimmering space,
He sees one face, the light of his grace.

Her laughter echoes through the reflecting halls,
A haunting melody that softly calls.
With every turn, her image glows,
Yet just beyond reach, where the shadow flows.

He reaches out, but the glass is cold,
A barrier strong, a story untold.
Her eyes, like stars, pull him near,
Yet the maze twists deeper, amplifying fear.

“Why can’t you see me?” he cries in despair,
As her smile flickers, a ghost in the air.
In every reflection, she dances away,
Taunting his heart as it starts to fray.

Each corner he turns, she slips from his grasp,
A phantom of longing, a fleeting clasp.
He sprints through the maze, heart pounding with might,
Chasing the vision that fades into night.

“Just one more step, I’ll find my way,”
He whispers to shadows that silently sway.
With determination, he fights through the haze,
Hoping to break free from this endless maze.

But as the reflections begin to distort,
Her figure shifts, a haunting retort.
“Find me, dear heart, in the light of the day,
For the mirror can’t hold what the heart can’t betray.”

Awakening sudden, he gasps in the night,
Realizing within the dream was a flicker of light.
With hope in his heart, he makes a new plan,
To bridge the divide and take hold of her hand.

For though the mirror maze held him tight,
The dream whispered truths, igniting his fight.
With courage ignited, he steps into day,
Determined to chase the shadow of doubt away.
