Lunar Luvnotes Dec 2014
Sunlit faceted grass,
shimmers in the mist
as I slough off my past,
like a python sheds her skin.
Eucalyptus columns enchant
over the backdrop of clouds,
spilled over sprawling hills.
Like a mast catching wind,
like my hair,
I'm ready to set sail
away from this land,
but not from my people,
whose spirit will burn on
in the deepest part of my heart.
This desolate beautiful place
made me crazy,
and very polite.
I really like it like that.
This is about growing up in a farm town with a whole Lotta nothing to do growing up. It makes you crazy for better (musicians and artists) or worse (lots of drugs) Moving back to where I'm from,  Santa Cruz and realizing being raised in a town whose population is more than half Latin makes you a have better manners with more feeling and support within the community. People aren't so out of touch with themselves. I bring my small town vibes to the heart of San Francisco, the cold part with the lawyers and bankers. I keep my cool, or rather my warm.

Dear Society,

Why can’t we all just get along?
We’re stuck between what’s right and what’s cool.
We have this fine line that we waver back and forth.
And to many times,
Go with the cool

When I mean we,
I mean WE,
The collective,
The race,
The world

Why can’t we all just get along?
It doesn’t matter if your Black or White or Pink!
Or Catholic or Jewish or Muslim,
Or tall or large or thin or small
Or Gay or Lesbian or Straight

Why can’t we all just get along?
We’re all different, can’t you see?
We aren’t alike,
And you have to admit,
It’d be boring if we were!

Why can’t we get along?
It’s really quite simple,
Just smile and say hello,
To all those that you meet,
Today and tomorrow, and throughout your life

Why can’t we all just get along?
We seem, I think,
To not understand what we are,
Who we are
How we are

Why can’t we all just get along?
It’s just a simple question.
We go along with violence around us,
Consuming us,
Poisoning us,

It’s actually so simple,
That a lot of adults don’t know.
But still I have to ask,
Really, really, really have to ask
Why can’t we all just get along?

do not feel the need to change your works/pieces because people on this site don't think you're up to par. I encourage all of you to keep writing
in whatever forms the words come to you. This is not high school or college. You are not being graded. Criticisms are welcome and considered but don't have to apply to your work if they don't fit in with how you think your poetry should be written.
I've never openly responded to things happening outside my profile and in the community. I was a bit peeved to find that there are people on this site who feel the need to police "bad" poetry and think that we need to be pushed to a preconceived betterment.  Keep writing, keep writing. Some of you don't have any better outlets and I want this place to stay a safe haven for all of us. I am in no way bad mouthing the people who do give criticisms and help people who genuinely want help with their writing, keep doing you. But please be considerate.

Changing the world may be almost impossible
Changing the nation may take a lifetime
Changing your community may take a long time
Changing yourself won't happen over night
But changing anything for the better is worthwhile

In my love of day
My love invents another day
In my window night
Another night is invented

We are what we think
So carnival of carnal imaginations
Be still, learn to concentrate
For the calligraphy of fate

Shows sign-seeds of
Syllable-clusters, rampant sparks
That the stars in my hands
Invents a touch that deconstructs

Itself, these eyes that have
Taken these pages by storm
And this heart that cannot
Let any portion of the
World go unloved alone.

I am on a voyage to somewhere far
On a meagre boat, on an ocean vast
The water is calm but deep and murky
The day is pleasant but passes slowly

From here and there, and near and far
The mortals on board are a motley lot
Most are calm and pass time patiently
But few count every second covetously
   --x--
Like birds of a feather, they came together
To cajole the captain to go even faster
“By wind and current our speed is good”
To the deaf and dumb the capt'n preached

“We know better” they arrogantly said
And rallied all others to back their deed
Most kept quiet, but a few did concur
“Captain go faster, or we'll take over!”

The ruckus got louder and over heated
I closed my eyes and my ears I covered
“I'm above all this!, it doesn't concern me”
And escaped to a world of make-believe

But not long after, I was getting quite wet
I was sinking, I saw, along with the rest
*“If only I hadn't been such a **** coward,
If only I had made a stand, If only I had....

From out of the smoke,
And impromptu silences,
A lone piper plays at reels,
Beyond the borders, his knees
In a trinity of keys, breaching
Low dun black ****** hearts,
The public house is enclosed
Out in the open, under a plow
Of mossy stars, peat and bog,
Wrapped, within chanters throat.
