"Curiosity killed the cat."

What this really means

is that,

at a certain point of investigation,

anyone

can become

manipulated

by

their

  own

      curiosity.

In a splash of sunlight through window panes,
we watch in grace together
Bright green eyes, light up my mind
I wish to gaze upon them

I watch her walk around me
Everything, she appreciates
I admire her world of wisdom
Teaching me to have space
Written about Aggi, a beautiful angel of a cat. Teaching me every day to appreciate what I've got.

The summer stretched out
Languorous
Lissome
A stray cat
Sunning itself
In possibilities

'meow' he said
'and you understand me?' i replied
he licked his paw and touched my hand
his warmth i can't deny

'you know how i feel, don't you?'
he purred as if to agree
he rubbed himself against my shin
knowing i wanted to flee

'meow' again he said
i laughed and pet his head
he stayed by me and didn't leave
a true friend til the end

'im tired of this' i mumbled
he looked a little sad
and when i said i needed him
he looked a bit more glad

'let's leave this place' i told him
he stood and followed suit
i jotted down a paper where
we'd have our escape route

a cat is not a friend
but family so to say
i held him tight as we ran through the night
and that day, we went away
what the cat understands
whether he knows that he understands it
or not is that in everything
there can be newness

I do not know when he does most
of his sleeping,
but I watch each morning
as he greets the house,
lifting his nose up to everything
familiar in order to remember
where he is

he traces each surface
with his paws
wanders around and around
until he lays and falls
asleep, then again
waking with the same
dedication to discovery

he sits in the same windowsill
every day, looking out
at the same things,
concerning himself only
with the present

A cat once took my can of sardines
Left me all rumbly and starving
But I gave it a pat
   It gave me a rat
Could it be any more loving?
"Oh, the things we do for love."

You sit awake at 5 AM
Unable to sleep from the heat
A mind burdened by desire and ambition
Blurry dreams that are out of focus
Impossible to see for the eyes that have lost their vision
Out of touch from the heart beat slowing down
You’d mourn the loss of your being
But tears can’t heal the dying
And pain, no matter how brilliant, can’t bring back the dead
You climb back into your coffin
Next to your fellow corpse in the bed of hope
And you realize
Sometimes it’s better to let it die
Just a little something I wrote at 5 AM this morning.
