I looked and I looked
deep into your eyes
And there you were
Lost in the fires
You were lost
Nobody was home
I screamed and I screamed
I screamed your name
But nobody was home
You were lost to the flame
Poppies abloom in memoriam.

Fields content of the past.

Storms brewing above.

To renew them once again.

Memories of battle, scars on the earth.
Revealed once again.

In the fields.

It was the poppies to bloom

In memoriam.

Called to war. Sent across.

To lands abound and far enough.

The Anzacs were never lost.

Our hearts spread with pride
And glory.

Fell were they at Gallipoli, who at beaches, landed wrongly.

The waters deep and bullets afloat they fought with might of lions and hearts of steel.

But in all they won and enemies fell, the water calmed.

They Were Called Home.

And I'll hope that the time space continuum gets smaller,
That the names on the map lose all meaning,
and the distance becomes just an obligation.

And you'll come to surpass
the person you left here with me.

I am a bug
You are a garden
Just one more hug
And I’m in heaven

I am an island
You are a sea
Leaving me stunned
And no longer empty

I am a comet
You are a star
Missing you’s become a habit
That leaves me with a scar

Let me rid you of your heart aches
With poetry and strawberry cupcakes
So stay with me but for a little while
You accelerate time in just one smile

But all things must come to an end
I’ll miss you more than you can comprehend
To this day I’m still finding goodbyes tough
Because time spent with you is never enough

You are prettier than a peacock's feathers
Sweeter than all of the sugars
Funnier than the highest of jesters
Like the distant stars,
You cannot be surpassed
You are my universe,
nothing is more vast

Storm erupted

Another evening, peaceful at midnight
Stillness, rest, no interruption or light
People asleep, nothing to intervene
Soon turns to very different scene

A long faint shard Illuminates evening
No noise, brief white flash seething
Early morning, faint breeze stirs
The hint, noise, distant verve

Leaves faint skitter on the back patio
Sounds harbinger of a dark shadow
Light interrupts the dark frequently
A momentum gathers relentlessly

Breeze gathering in resolve, gale force
Its gusting, with a devilish resource
Trees thrown, branches thrashing
Light, noise together crashing

A vast crescendo of drums, rumbling
Bass, deeper peels, when tumbling
Booms accompanies the lightning
A sudden purple flash frightening

Bang, an enormous sudden explosion
House shaking, feel the commotion
In a violent instant felt threatened
Forceful, it's power deafened

In its angry wake is trail of damage
Houses and trees, impact savage
Electricity out, effect felt in days
Neighbourhood reacts in daze

Meanwhile the storm trails to the east
On distant houses, troubles sweep
Now to faint as rolling forwards
Huge force rumbles onwards

The noise, memory before morning
Damage counted as day dawning
A peaceful weekend interrupted
Night the violent storm erupted

Gates climb

News and paraphernalia
Modern communication
Internet on vacation
Today, rural Australia

Goes awol in valleys, hills
As seeking when hiding
Frustration biding
Trees, various pitfalls

An Insufficient population
Say Cannot build towers
Excuses bely hours
Trying, for connection

Work with what's known
Try cavalier solutions
It's the execution
When, creativity shown

First try computer waving
Above head I'm shaking
Signal not taking
Despite, the swaying

Next option lying on floor
Hint of access, fleeting
Patchy greeting
So slow, won't store

Then stand on top of bed
Try to reach high ceiling
Wobbly feeling
Response, still lead

Despite heat, go outside
The temperature violent
Connection silent
If Home far, just beside

Time past, similarly stung
Found access best rate
The paddock gate
Balancing, top rung

Troop to gate hopes keen
As Searing heat, metal
Stand and settle
Tightly, cradle machine

Process long, time lost
A Connection success
Finally access
But who, counts cost?

Eventually, its loaded mail
As Balancing hold keen
Humorous scene
As Sway, in light pale

Internet access by Gates
Not Bill, Steve, Microsoft
Hung steel aloft
So basic, surely debates

Climbing for a signal now
Is the practical response
Sadly ensconced
As Rural, area know how

But surely it must be time
When access essential
Internet critical
Yet today, gates climb

Pinholes
punched through
my
canvas of night

An
array of stars
strewn across
Darwin's
blanket of black

Quiet
and
reassuring
are my
Northern Territory
lights

Like salve
to my
mind,
soul
and
inconspicuous cracks
I can see more stars here than I ever could back home...
Incubus' "Wish You Were Here" came to mind.
