My life is a fashion show,
My country's flag is a poster,
The stars are check marks off a shopping list,
And my future president wants to build a barrier to keep us in-
And keep the rest of us out.

Outside I hear a child
Calling out to the world and begging,
Screaming that he'll see change.
Swearing that if he can have a chance
He will see himself.

The television buzzes.
I am not sure what it's saying
But the colors tell me that I'm not supposed to know.
And each time I try to understand
I am to expect a slap to the wrist.

My future president has a lot of money;
I've seen pennies fly out of his mouth.
His heart is grey and his eyes glow red
But I've been taught to believe in the colors and I'm not supposed to know
What they mean.

My cats are unaware
Of any inconvenience.
Whether we change the world or not,
They'll find food in their dishes daily.
They will have a human to curl up next to.

The trees are sad today.
Earth knows it will fall victim
To this vile mess of waste and greed
Only to serve a species with no mind to realize
That we're meant to care for that which gives us life.

I've been watching reruns
Each day I have spent in this life.
Nobody wants to hear the truth.
Nobody wants to believe working together will change the world,
But hasn't the world been at war this whole time?
I'm normally a stingy person...
But I don't mind sharing a kiss with you.
I am a stingy person though
-just being honest
when i was a child
i knew one thing for certain
adults don't listen
Senryu
Julia was careless, and withal
She rather took than got a fall;
The wanton ambler chanc’d to see
Part of her legs’ sincerity:
And ravish’d thus, it came to pass,
The nag (like to the prophet’s ***)
Began to speak, and would have been
A-telling what rare sights he’d seen
And had told all; but did refrain
Because his tongue was tied again.

It is not to pray

Lost
I hope he goes to bed tonight,
knowing that he's loved*
more than anything.
I'd give anything to hold him in my arms again.

With every smile,
With every glance,
My hopes are raised,
My joy enhanced,
I'm on a high,
It's such a rush,
So i make my move...
My heart is crushed.

Was wishful thinking
on my part,
I lost my head
and followed my heart,
I learnt to see
what wasn't there,
Her love for me
Is now elsewhere.

Will i ever learn
Not to take the bait,
That drop dead smile
That seals my fate,
It reels me in
And i can't break free,
I'm filled with a
false sense of security.

So again i'm struck
Deep to the heart,
With the realization,
We are apart,
The love we shared
has ceased to be,
So from now on,
just good friends are we.

I suffocated myself with the words I didn't say.
