I have a bracelet made of black leather and a metal ring.
I've had it for two years.
I remember the day I first decided to wear it,
and I never took it off.

That bracelet became a part of me as I went through
family troubles and loneliness and the fact that
my friends were never my best friends.
But I will never forget my bracelet that stuck with me,
regardless of the circumstance.

It has been two years, and my bracelet is frayed
and tattered, but that metal ring still holds both ends together.

That metal ring, able to cope with all of that time,
held together probably one of the only things that
truly gave me character.

It wasn't about how that bracelet looked on me,
but rather what it resembled.

The black leather can no longer stay together,
and one day...

It fell off my wrist.

I will never be able to wear that perfect bracelet

again.

we fell appart that night under the screaming of the oh so loud crowd
you because of the pills you ate, I because of the whiskey I drank
maybe this was the sign, it was supposed to happen that night..
a sign everything went wrong in our little heads, we were gone

it was that night you called me and telling me to leave
not only you wanted me to leave in spirit but also to leave your heart

she always was so beautiful with the light of the moon shining on her
I loved her like the childeren loved playing with broken dying dolls
and I hated her for wanting me to leave her ugly ****** up heart

the smoke in the sky started to form a mirror, I could see myself now.

Uncomplicated knots with strings of offset orange, yellow, green.
It’s just a bracelet.

The replacement for the blue one I lost in New York
The one I hated myself for dropping
But you never did

It’s like I’m there with you again

My heart leaps from my chest
At it’s shining, vibrant face
Smiling at me like an old friend
Because that’s what we are

When I’m nervous, I twist the band
The beads click and dance and sing in my fingertips
I think of it like those ruby red slippers

I wish that were how it worked

it was wrapped up in a black and white box that

and so, when i put it on, i saw it's simplicity.
it's ribbon of stirling silver knotted together.
i sometimes look at my wrist and pretend that the bracelet hugging my small untouched bone-
is your fingers- touching every piece of my skin.
i sometimes go through the bag and the box the bracelet was set carefully in.
your love- still a part of me.

i'll scour through the box at three in the morning-
when i can't sleep and your on my mind.
i'll rack my thoughts and remember when you smiled
or when they thought, wow he really loved her.

and i want to find a message from you, despite our distance.
but i don't.

and every precious second i waste going through the bag and box-
and every minute i stare at my bracelet hanging from my slender wrist-
i break.
because i don't see a message in your scripted hand writing.
and i don't see your name carved into my bracelet.
and i know that your fingers will never be around my wrist feeling my pulse- my heartbeat for you.
