If I put pen to flesh
And impress my thoughts in ink
Perhaps my skin will absorb the essence of my scrawls
My hopes, dreams and loves
Sunk into my pores
Become a part of me

whilst they chase us,
and murmur hymns 'neath swollen wings,
they guide us,
with beckon words.

for the birds of baby eyes,
and elderly minds,
they wish for and dream just as much as we,
and ask many questions 'neath--therein--night.

who are you?
who are we?
who are they?
who is may?

simplicity within sliver tongues,
and nocturne in starry eyes,
we learn,
and grow,
listening to the native tongues from the birds of age.

for they speak in rhyme,
and rhythm--you see,
and bless us with the ability.

highlighter eyes blind we,
our neon stoplights, we see,
our teacher--our father--our mentor,
that wishes we move as he does.

for he feeds us rats!
and breaks his very neck for our arrival,
'my child--my pupil--my daughter--my son--welcome'
ever he always,
'mind you--mind you--your eyes beg wonder--sleep waits not for the lazy!'
and with a hardy laugh he bellows, the wind whips its hair as pompously, and only then his feet grabs for our shirts as we soar.

with darkly snoozes,
and sickly snores,
our teacher--our father--our mentor,
cares for us dozens!

for our wings dance lots--dance lots!--midst the rocky blue sun,
and our hearts shriek with candy teeth,
at the earth swimming below our dusty feet,
and clouds preach hello in wonder.

for the twilight knows of many bodies,
of many hands,
of many feet,
of many faces,
for they look up and see moving paintbrushes 'ganist canvas!
and wish for many easels.

and the earth knows of many tired bodies,
that the night has sickened,
with drooping eyes,
and legs a-limpin',
for they become the elder too,
as they play it and earned it well.

and the night sky argues and blinks many,
and births a new globe all and of its own!
as the olden wings guide us,
and our beings ache the part,
with sliver tongues,
and nocturnal starry eyes,
whom sweeps us into Forevermore.
For the elders of the night.

I should never feel lost
I am never alone
There’s this shadow always with me
Into my ear he whispers
The way for me to go
I cannot see or touch him
But I feel his presence all the same
He sooths me when I’m crying
And places dreams inside my heart
And when I start to doubt my feet
His hand is there in mine
Always gently leading
…me further down my path

Dear me,
Why can't you sleep?
Does the darkness trouble thee?

As your mind chases grief
Do you struggle just to breathe?

Dear me,
You must go to sleep
Life won't stop for you to weep

Dry your tears gracefully
And smile for the whole world to see

Dear Me,
Are you asleep?
Did you fall to your knees in agony?

Hide the nightmares that you keep
Tomorrow will come peacefully

Dear Me,
You must stay asleep
Quiet the chaos and stifle the screams

Silence the demons
That invade your dreams

Dear me,
You must not sleep
Or life may pass too quickly.

Rouse from your clouded lucidity
And awaken now...

It was only a dream

Dear Me,
Don't fall asleep

A marble Stone from the earth
Beautiful in every way to God
Found by those who labored odd
And thus rejected. Without worth

This very piece of quaried Rock
"Valueless" and thrown away
Is a Cornerstone unto this day
The most important building block

Blood weeps, as tears, within it's cracks
For it is built upon a hill
But the lost reject it still
Though in it's HEART there is no lack

Within that Heart there exist eyes
That see all the hardship, pain
But in most people there remains
The need to believe Deception's lies

There is a statue of a man
The King David by his name
Michelangelo of fame
Erected it, as in Rome planned

The block of marble used for him
Had what, for most, was fatal flaw
But the great sculptor did then draw
The greatest carving there's ever been

This marvel, crowds to awe and sway
Made by hands of a talented one
But God selected the Cornerstone
But it's still reviled and cast away

It is ever there, to accept and thus atone
For the nascient misdeeds of self
Indeed, more precious than great wealth
Is the cleansing blood from a Stone

The marble blocks used for the Statue of David in Rome had a flaw in it. It was therefore rejected by many sculptors. But it was an excellent piece of marble. So Michelangelo worked around the flaw and thus created one of the most beautiful sculptures on earth.

The Stone I speak of in this poem
Is, of course, Jesus Christ.

This is a different rhyming scheme for me. I hope it came out alright...

Little Bear
I never professed to be pretty
certainly not beautiful
and okay so...
babies don't actually cry when they look at me
But..
I know what I am
what I look like
you don't have to remind me
Yes.. I'm awkward
I mess up my words
I'm shy until I know you a little better
But..
Do you notice I find it hard to look you in the eye?
I thought not
Do I wish the ground would swallow me whole
more than once a day?
You bet
So.. I'm not really comfortable in my own skin
I know that..
But I refuse to have a thick skin
to man up and to take it on the chin
with or with out a pinch of salt
I refuse to be like you
I don't want to be hard hearted and cynical
and I also don't want to brush off your comments
like they are nothing to me
Because every word you said
every thing you implied
I have thought of myself too
all the time
everyday
And if what you said hurts me
then so be it
But that also means I am not like you
I would rather be me
awkward
self conscious
scared
a great big bag of what if's
But ultimately happy
I care
I want to do better
I love
I am soft
I have passion and dreams
(okay, so weird ones sometimes)
but I won't make fun of you
and if I like you I will tell you
and I will remind you that I love you
You don't know what I have seen
and have been through
You don't know what happened to me
because you don't know me at all
So don't judge me on what you see
judge me on what you know
And by what I know of you
I'm just glad I am me
I wrote this a few years ago.
I was on  a bus and there were
some very unkind things being said
by some other people on the bus.
Not just to me but to other passengers.
I came home and wrote this.
I just needed to write it out.
The sad thing is..
this is still relevant.
