Remembering the fires we stoked in each other's hearts ~
Mine still burning wildly ~
Yours but a gentle flame ~
As the autumn afternoon folds her arms around me ~
Won't you let me come inside love ~
And warm me from this chill ~

They said you were slow and languorous
That live or die 'twas all the same for you
Untutored, they were the swine before the pearls
And were ignorant of the coals that fanned your passion

I was one of the daring few that knocked at your door
The lithe girl in you  was always there for the seeing
You had a shape made in heaven and a smile to match
And your blithe ways said nothing mattered that much

We learned much about the body and the force of allure
We filled our gaps with information as you filled your cups
We became clumsier and more oafish as your grace peaked
But we always knew how to worship your form and beauty

The years went by and we all grew up and spread afield
Try as I did to search high and low, of you I found no trace
Yet with ease I found your pretty face in the clouds of time
And the rain wept your name and kept it showering

Now the relentless years have gone swiftly past somehow
And pretty little girls and bashful boys have grown old
Is this you with the fading sight and the tremulous voice?
'Tis no matter, I know how to bring back that lovely lass

So, no matter what, you'll always be that voluptuous beauty
I don't see your spindly legs nor mind your frequent lapses
They don't know what they missed, these modern types:
Love with the taste of spring water that bubbled out of you

Into the cupped palms of my doting heart that sang a duet
With the crescendo notes of your  ***** and the quiver
Of the enchanted world sitting upon your dancing behind
These enduring images never fade or melt away

Thus, dearest God's masterpiece, you'll always be my girl
And I the boy electrified by your articulate eloquence
Ignore them when they call you a hag and a witch
They know not the feel of the bliss that never goes away

I trace places you used to touch
Looking for echoes of your fingertips

I light candles where you used to stand
Trying to recreate the warmth you exuded

I wrap your sweaters around my body
Mimicking the sensation of your arms around me

I listen to the clinks of wine glasses
Pretending we're back on our first date

I stare at your lips in your pictures
Wishing I had kissed you longer

I thought losing you would get easier
But I miss you more every minute

I like the way your name sounds,
Rolling off my tongue,
But mostly I'm in love,
With the way you say **mine

Take me where words can't,
Meet me there with your hand held out,
You should know,
When I take it,
I'll never let go,
I'm not who came before,
I won't wear a mask,
I'll show you everything that dwells inside my soul,
And I ache to read the pages of yours,
Take me there, where words can't,
Let's turn these lines into reality.

sometimes i go outside
i look at the sky
and wonder
will i ever see your face

the wind kisses my skin
gently blowing lace from my shoulder
and i can't tell you
how many times
i've imagined it's your hands

sometimes i go outside
to undress with the sky & the stars
and every time i do
i hope the night has come,
and he is watching

all the boys she loved were abandoned churches
with no forwarding address
until the day she knocked down his door
and walked into a cathedral

you will miss her the most
when you walk through the forest
holding the hand of a girl
who does not like trees

The ambience gone
The panache is next
And ye of elegance
Would not linger here
Is it the stale water in the vase
or the sweaty shoe gone smelly?
Verily, I say unto you all;
it's none of the above -
Just love gone bad!
Tightened and refined

In their time
In their clime
They did
what they could
And it stood
What do we do
In our time
And in our clime?
Will what we do stand?
O fellow poets, have a heart
Be not like Aeschylus
the poet on Greek shores
so distracted and abstracted
he could not see
the lamagayer's missile
aimed at his shining dome
Your poetic heart should be home
singing sweet phrases to scarred clouds
and healing the wounds
from uncaring man's foolhardy actions
Write poetry to make the ocean's heart
heat up and sweat
Make the clouds ravenous
Till they weep upon the earth
and the world becomes a sea of green
This poem is based on my worries abour climate change that we could as a world acting in unison avert but hardly any of the super powers are privy to protocols such as  the Kyoto Protocol and so on. Right now in Southern Africa where I live, the whole region is faced with either a debilitating drought or a devastating el nino. These things are no longer speculation. They are for real. It is historical fact that the droughts that led to the loss of millions of people in Ethiopia in the 1970s were man-made.They were the results of severe damage to the ozone layer and that came with its attendant difficulties: not enough heat from the sun reaching our oceans and, therefore, the oceans did not heat up sufficientl for any real evaporation to take place. Result- no rains fell and no crops were grown. Result - famine and crocodile tears!

I am, through these notes and through my now enhanced poem, appealing to all HP poets who feel so inclined to join me and write poems on climate change and related themes. We could in the end publish and even organize symposiums and readings around the world on WORLD POETRY DAY 2016 and beyond till we make a difference.  How about that poets?

There's something about dark mornings,
That make kissing so exquisite,
and how my hands reach for your curves,
Like you are air,
and my lungs are starved of it,
I can't wait to touch you,
Breathe life into your neck,
and watch your legs part,
Because you can't resist,
How much I love you
How much I need you,
Because you can't resist,
Being **Mine
