She Writes
You are as blinding as the sun
But that doesn’t stop me from staring
You are as unreachable as the stars
But that doesn’t stop me from wishing

She was like music,
and I longed to dance.

Her heart was the beat,
and I begged for the chance.

Her words were the vocals,
and I was put in a trance.

Her smile was the melody,
and I fell in love at first glance.
if the peaches hold their blooms
if the figs survive the chickens
if the berries are tickled with rain
if the plums are so entertained
if the crabapples taste a shower in November
if the pears make it through winter
if the jalapeños get hot weather
if the grape vines hold together

When my dark clouds rise

And dirt clods fly and I try

In sheer panic to replace

Rotten fruit with dull wax fruit

And wilted blossoms with

Plastic flowers and she thinks we

Will be on yet another short-lived

But cold cycle of tightrope and

Eggshell walking . . .

She comes home

With bags filled with

Apples green & red

Peppers yellow & green & red

Grapes green & purple

Plums yellow & purplish-red

Strawberries, peaches, tomatoes

Bananas & Greek salads.

This usually inspires me to make

For this setting a centrepiece of a

Vase filled with a variety of fresh

Picked wildflowers which brings

Her more joy than two dozen

Of the overrated overachiever rose.

At times this seems like

One of  few bridges back

To a healthy & colourful world.

Another dance through my life memoir.
Oh no! the roller coaster of love...not again! This crazy little thing called love...

We couldn't get the music right
Or a place to call our own
But in each other's bodies we made homes
And from our hearts we drew our warmth

We held each other still and stared at the stars and I could feel it coming
Bubbling up through the warmth in my chest
I could feel it spreading across my tongue
Into the warm air between our lips

"I love you"

"I love you too"

Then I pulled you as close to me as possible and kissed you until the world was spinning
And maybe it was something in the air
Or maybe it was the overwhelming feelings that you gave me
But either way you held me close and brought me back to our still oasis under the stars
When offered chocolate grab as much
as one hand can hold
Drink fine liquor till it's all gone
Bask in sunshine all day until it hops over the
horizon
Eat the dewberries of summer without
reservation , make room for good cheese ,
good wine and hot buttered bread on every
occasion
Sample the perfume of every rose in the garden
Take hot baths with Peppermint tea and shortbread
cookies , do it with music blaring , do it often* ...

I rule the Principality of Randolph and no other
I stand unshackled by political thought and the misdirection of my fathers
I've no tolerance for the panicked Gen X , Y nor Z enlightened , for I
glow vividly in the darkened apparatus of my own tinkering mind as well
I hold a book of Sandburg poetry with my right hand ,
a mattock in the left , the hefty chain of truth around
my neck , a Cherokee rose in a left pocket , a revolver in the right
I am a firm believer in the barbed wire cattle fence , bone chilling
November front porch mornings with black coffee and biscuit
The call of an Iron Bell , the clear ringing notes of mournful Dove , watchful Crow and story filled Whippoorwill* ...

Sometimes you are cold
But deep inside you're warm
You are strong
But I see your vulnerability
You're an oak between the pine trees
Yet like the willow in a rainstorm
You don't care what others think
But there's a glint of insecurity
You're clinging to a history
That will only bring you down
Your smile it is a beauty
But I only see you frown
You're flying with the eagles
Amongst the giants you stand tall
But know this in your heart my love
I've got you ....
When you need to fall .....

I have my autumn feet ready to seek out adventure
In a season of brisk winds that chill fingertips,
Frosty-nosed nights spent huddled beside a crackling fire,
Days wrapped up inside a thick, warm blanket
Gently grasping a steaming mug of hot tea.
Where calendar weeks are filled with
The steady rapping of raindrops on windows,
apples grappled from trees to make grandmothers’ famous pie,
and friends gathering to wander down endless rows of corn.
My autumn feet are ready to explore,
They are ready to adventure.
To my most beloved,
my painter, my muse.
My dear Einar,
I love you
as I always have.
How beautiful you are in a dress.
You are the most
beautiful lady,
your beauty surpasses
even mine.
Your scarf around my neck,
how it warms me as you do.
I hope you become who you truly are,
and want to be.
I love you,
my dear Lili.
