o'er the black sea sky
the bright silvery moon sailed
throughout the long night
a voile of thin mist
tarried over the backyard
till well after nine
a buck kangaroo
hopped across the river
in the early morn dew
spring's vivid colors
lay in winter's white cocoon
waiting to burst forth
a low flying crow
eyed pumpkin seeds lying
in Helen's backyard
soon the buds of spring
shall unfold to reveal their
multitude of hues
as the wind currents
are changing they indicate
a seasonal shift
love is a bouquet
filled with the bloom's embrace
of scented flowers
foam signatures
remained on the shoreline
telling of wave flow
grey smudged clouds drift
in from the western district
they bring no moisture
night's black velvet cape
spangled in stellar diamonds
twas a stunning show
a hint of autumn
pervaded the morning's air
twas cooler in feel
merrily the birds
sing a refrain in the bush
they pleasure the ear
man's constant feasting
on the planet's many riches
shall starve future gens
NB: Gens is an abbreviated form of the word generations.
a lone piper stood
on a craggy hill playing
a doleful lament
at her breast the baby
suckled with much contentment
the milk of sweet life
as winter sets in
village chimneys belch their smoke
more prevalently
his lips hungered
to ravish her cream white flesh
in kisses of want
magenta splashes
colored the dawning sky
with their sign of rain
out of the darkness
emerged a lamplighter
shedding his bright glow
this morn azure blue
reigns o'er the Northern Tablelands
radiant is its hue
the landscape bathed
in an indigo blue shading
on this sunny bright day
with a winning hand
there's an element of luck
it's the dealer's call
#npmluck  #dealer  #call  #winning
thundering trumpets
thundered through the township
tooting thunderously
the brackish water
held within its murky hue
many a slippery eel
spring's color palette
paints a resplendent canvas
of floral glories
Oleander blooms
bear a sweet lingering scent
e'er to remember
on this hot Monday
a person thirsts constantly
the throat dry of well
a flight of cranes
landed on the churchyard lawn
to rest mid journey
may a lasting peace
prevail on this our planet
for all of mankind
the pitter patter
of soothing rain drops will send
one off to slumber
cherish what you have
as some people have not a thing
be ever grateful
fog stayed trapped
within the deep valley folds
on that autumn morn
lulling soft droplets
fell upon the old tin roof
slumbering my eyes
a brilliant blue sky
gave cause for the birds to sing
in joyous chorus
toward western hills
the last vestiges of light
sink as day draws down
white rocks shower down
on this Friday afternoon
they hail with a pound
twas such a delight
to have silence restored
the din was too much
in shallow waters
newly hatched fingerlings
swam with swishing tails
springs are breaking out
tis a good signal for rain
may the drops soon fill
Ruby's ravishing rock
received many rave reviews
was of richest red
mere specks on the globe
are we yet each one of us
so significant
the gelid countryside
awaits the warm brace of spring
to melt the cold grasp
though we are mere specks
on the globe each one of us
so significant
the fire's hot tongue
licked energetically
on parched woodlands
the sun's staring eye
looked through my west window
with a fixed gaze
in this part of Oz
there is an ancient spinster
who pines for love
a soft autumn breeze
tickled the daisies petals
with is finger tips
birds sing tunes gay
on this lovely bright spring day
their songs nicely play
just before sun up
croaking frogs were heard croaking
around the river
