If you are going to walk away
make sure you wear a comfortable shoes
And if you change your mind and come back here,
you know where to find the key

But please be reminded that you
will never see me here again
I am the genie in the bottle
Once I grant your three wishes,
I'm gone forever

You made a poet fall in love with you
And expected her not to write sonnets about your eyes
Haikus about the way you kissed her in the moonlight
Expected the fire in her heart not to inspire couplets
You made a poet fall in love with you, and when you left
Expected her not to write pages about the ache in her chest
Write a soliloquy dedicated to her tears
Expected her not to feel every gut wrenching moment of the pen hitting paper like your words hit her in the most vulnerable places of her mind.
You made a poet fall in love with you, and you expected her to be silent.
That is no fault of hers.

Love* may be a feeling
But
Love is not just how you feel,

I love you may be the right words
But
Love is not just what you say,

Love is a decision
And
Love is what you do.
I'm thoroughly amazed! A poem of mine has made the daily! I had little to do with it. My thanks go to everyone who saw meaning in this work and shared, liked, added, commented, and even sent me messages. I am grateful to every one of you! You guys here on Hello Poetry are wonderful, wonderful people. Bless you!
Dying love in a gilded cage,
Imprisoned by my pent up rage.
You never loved me, but neither did I,
The last gift you gave was the gift of goodbye.

You must begin early
while it is cool and your head clear
discernment, a sharpened tine
probing the rocky darkness
for all things latent and destructive.

Be aware that the velvet sage
of the leaves belies their power
to take over every space, remember
roots burrow deep, anchoring in
fissures we don’t even know exist.

You must delve as close
to the origin as possible
or the **** you think eradicated
will bide its time, germinating
in the still secret ground

waiting for light
to penetrate the moist earth
waking the sprout
who voraciously pushes up and out
a curled blemish

in your otherwise carefully tended garden.

I hope you never reach
The day
Where you are lost for words
Because they're tangled up in
Agony.

I hope you never reach
The point
Where your innocence of
The world is
Robbed.

I hope you choose
Your friends and
Lovers wisely
So that you never have to
Discover what it feels like
To see those who you believed
Would take a bullet for you
Dance behind the
Trigger.
I am very fortunate that this has made the daily poems! I am completely new to this site (about a week or two in) and it is truly an honor to have my work recognized. Thank you guys for supporting!

Prepare for battle, rally the troops.
Don't test someone with nothing to lose.
That's just my advice, you'll do as you choose.
Don't be sad to see go the people you've used.
You set off the bomb that you should have diffused.
Please just don't speak; we don't want an excuse.
This is the end result of when your employer promotes someone less qualified than you.

the rain drops still dripping from the early morning rain
the air conditioner right next my head that lies upon a pillow
the sound of the t.v drowned out but you can still dimly hear the voices cackling and cheering for the late nite t.v show host
and there lies my body in between all of this as i try to sleep
as my mind runs through so many things
thinking about everything, the past, the future, the present.
all of the noises come back as i just try to rest but i cant
life has got me by the claws and wont let go
but that's okay
at least something hasn't let go of me yet
i was listening to this soothing song called ''Olancha Farewell'' and it triggered so much so I hopped on the website and wrote everything that flowed.
Goodnight you beautiful people.
p.s
be aware i am not fully awake when writing this.. i may have made some errors but please bare with me.
merci.

She sleeps in my red light
While I sleep alone
With someone
I know about empty wells
Alone I'm in a group
Alone I'm in a crowd
Singing all my songs
I'm a forsaken shepherd

So can I kiss you on the forehead
And lay these demons to rest
While the most important things
Make me smile
An incomplete poem that feels complete. If you know what I mean
