"ubuntu" poems
Narrow minds plague our streets Ignorant views and empty arguments Hearts filled with hatred for no reason Are we not a country that fought for equality Has the long walk of freedom not been walked for us Did I misunderstand the meaning of Ubuntu What happened to love, peace and empathy The simplicity of an act of kindness Has fear swept all your morals away? They bleed when they are cut They cry when they are sad We breath the same air Laugh at the same jokes and even dream the same dreams We are the same It's not even about colour How is their black different to yours? brother hating brother They too are Africa Soften your blows Try on their shoes Its hurting them and it will hurt you too

Xenophobia
Is there something wrong with being black? Different skin color tone war, is that what our heroes fought for? Why is it necessary for white men to form similes about our color? Is this freedom or what? I feel like being black is a sin. What's really funny is racism is found in the black community only because it has turned on itself “I'm light skinned I'm better than” “dark skinned is ugly” is this what we call love? Ubuntu? if so then I want none it. It's amlaot disgusting how we can't show love to each other but expect love from another kind. by: ofentse_tsie & dvniel

Lost is the African pride Gone are those who could ride the tide Left are those who drown beneath the wave Prone to dehumanization because of greed I see burning buildings Mutilated bodies Escalating violence And social unrest Lost is the Spirit of Ubuntu Left is a society deprived of its integrity Selfishness and poverty is at the core of our society Is the real Africa lost to antiquity? Crime is rife as people strive for a decent life. A decent life earned through decadence Should we stone foreigners because the government is failing to provide employment? Or should we burn down buildings so that our voices can be heard? I am ashamed of the profanity we breed It’s a calamity for us to be xenophobic It’s a taboo for us to call Africans foreigners in their motherland. It’s not who they are. It’s not who we are It’s not who you are It’s not who I am Together we are the Africa that has survived slave trade The Africa that has survived apartheid The Africa that has survived colonization The Africa that is surviving westernization We don’t fight for employment We create employment We don’t breed resentment We translate sentiments Let us evoke the Spirit of Ubuntu And let’s behave like men not animals Let us ignite the Spirit of Ubuntu And let’s stand like men immortal The Spirit of Ubuntu is what separates us from animals Terrorism shouldn’t exist in Africa It’s a disgrace for us to be unethical Xenophobia shouldn’t be heard in Africa Animosity is not our portion

Africa, Oh Africa! Africa, Oh Africa! My Motherland, Why not take pride in who you are? When you converse, You use the language of the West. The offspring of the same parents, And still use the language of the West. Your own children try to distance themselves and dress and talk like Those from the West. Your airwaves are filled with music, Fast beats, foul language and heavy metal from the West. Even the food you eat All processed and purchased From the West. Your fields are dry. You laugh at traditional foods and ceremonies. You have forgotten who you are. Your heritage cries out From the depths of the tombs you're filling up with immorality and your self-destructive ways. You despise who are, You ridicule who you are, You try so hard to change Who you are Your heroes and comrades In entertainment and politics In the community, the society Have been overshadowed By those from the West. Remember them, Revere them, More so alive than after death. Resurrect Ubuntu, Show a little compassion For a fellow who needs it. Stop the hate, tribalism And racism. This path of destruction Will get you nowhere. Let peace rule in the Motherland. Respect your elders, Salute the teachers Who try to lead your youth In the right direction. Teach your children well Violence is not the way The pen is still mightier Than the sword Eradicate illiteracy End child labour and Marriages. Honour, love and protect Your women and children. They will give you respect and happiness in return. Follow the footprints Of your forebears. Live in harmony with Yourself. Africa, Oh Africa! Africa, Oh Africa! Take note Before it's too late!

Dear Racism, You, that exist but should never have been. Your children, Hatred and Division have grown up among us. Rooted themselves wherever they pleased. You have caused enough pain. You will be silenced. Today we took the 1st step, as ONE Nation. Today we remembered. Today we said thank you. My heart is heavy, yet calm. Walking among my fellow brothers and sisters, I sensed the same in them. We have been changed. Liberated. Ubuntu. Freedom is ours for the taking. The long walk has been walked for us. We need to be as strong now. We need to carry on the work. Our leaders need to lead, by following the dreams of the people, Our leaders need to put themselves last, and the people they serve, first. Let it not be in vain. For then I fear, we are all lost. Dear Racism, Goodbye. And good riddance. Sincerely, The Nation of UBUNTU.

Dear Racism
Hello I have placed my feet in this place I have no intentions of leaving For it mesmerizes me with its beauty Hello Am just a stranger Wishing one day I could call this place my own For through its dazzling nature I can see the rises of mountains And falls of valleys of my village home Hello I open the doors of my house wide To embrace the "Ubuntu" of the place And to remain rooted to my origin For everyone is welcome.

instead of making them feel at home we are telling them to go back home have we got no shame calling our brothers and sisters foreigners in their own motherland? what happened to Ubuntu? umntu ngu mntu ngabantu? has the long walk to freedom not been walk for us? there will be no freedom in Africa if we still believe in brutality rather than humanity there will be no freedom in Africa if  don't understand the meaning of struggle, poverty yesterday we were crying for freedom praising and promoting the spirit of togetherness, today we stone the same African brother who held our hands in the years of apartheid and gave us hope! why do we have to be so cruel not so fucken cool! Nelson Mandela did not die for this! Walter sisulu did not die for this! our black brothers and sisters in sharpville did not die for this! where did it all go wrong? we claim to be the land of peace yet we do not know the meaning of forgiveness we claim to be the land of great leaders and born dreamers yet we do not know   the meaning of Ubuntu! I am not proud of what this land has become....

these xenophobic attacks must stop!
I know what I am, I know who I am, But I am not sure who I am, Or what I am, They call me Black, I do not know if I am Black, They call me African, But am I African, Where these names came from, I wonder, Maybe they are just nicknames, Yes, Fom those historical enermies who were up to degrade me, I do not know who I am, But I know for sure I'm just a poor millionaire, Poor in Western materialistic classification, I know I am Umuntu, A millionaire Umuntu, Rich in Ubuntu, But that's not all, I'm in search of my identity, I need to know who the hell I am, For I am black and African, But I'm neither Black Nor African.

In the middle of the night, I met death at the kitchen: Having a glass of milk. I didn't wash them dishes, so death be not proud; for drinking out a ***** cup... Oh spare me death, my beef was not with thee; but with my own flesh... Whilst by the stove,I feel the coldness u brought with. I jest for a favour, can you please have "Ubuntu" and hand me over the spoon so my lips can taste the sip of mercy? My cup runs over yet I never drink from it. Allow me this once to say my final prayer and vanquish my hunger with mothers mqomboti...tonight I met death inda kitchen.... No cookies for my milk!

Never judge a book by its cover - they say. Never believe a man's word over his actions - they say. Never trust without reason - they say. Why not? - I say. Humanity (as a virtue) is being crippled by humans as they stride past the crippled man, hunched-back and desperate to extend, to stand up, to reach out for that can of coffee at the grocery store. As they violate, debilitate and penetrate our minds by starving us of education and taunt us with grant money. As they reduce our complexity and significance and capabilities to stats charts numbers lines dots . As they stand, staring up eleven floors at a flailing, failing student ready to jump. As they stereotype us into boxes that we use to hold our belongings - our interior design. As they spend more money in one day than they pay the gardener over a week. As they scoff down ketchuped french fries after saying they were starving whilst they edge forward at the robot to ignore hungry begging children. As they complain about being alone when the others around them are also human. That's just it. The 'they' that we always speak of, 'They' are us. Unsheltered, not oblivious - we see the misery, suffering, pathetic pain - but we are ignorant of the barefoot woman with a load on her head and a life on her back, asking for a lift. Some of us see the strain but convince ourselves that our efforts would be insignificant, assure ourselves that it is hopeless, we are helpless. Science and religion seem like parallel lines but they converge on the point that Mankind is a superior species. 'Made in his image.' 'Increased cranial capacity, developed the ability to reason.' Yet we use that magnificence to justify our INcapability? Advanced beings in an age of connectivity and so disconnected from the essence of our own kind. We decide to be alone. There are rainbows of 'umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu' but Ubuntu becomes 'don't want to' and apathy is what makes us insignificant - indifferent and inhumane. To those who can read this, we are hypocrites - together - which means that we are never alone and thus we are made able. We are not helpless, we just Help Less. I refuse to hope less in humanity and allow us to be coaxed into an inferiority-complex when we can have progress and success but Only after we have oneness.

I am not a SouthAfrican but i am an African not due to the pigmentation of my skin or because i was born in Africa. Africa is born within me , its my first ever home that ive ever known and i am a proud child of the African ancestry. Africa isnt perfect as all human have their own imperfections . ITS SERIOUSLY SCARY HOW I CAN ATTACK MY OWN BROTHER AND LIE TO MYSELF AN SAY UBUNTU IS WHAT I BELIEVE. As human we build our own boarders and hope that everything will be well . Africa is a country not a continent . Forced by the media to believe only in the bad that happens around us and not embracing all the good things that have. If i cant be an African then i am not the child of the soil. I am sorry to all my African brothers and sisters that have been attacked lately in their own country because we speak a different language and we come from different tribes. Africa Unite !!! AFRICAN AND PROUD

He or she wasn't the cause of whatever you going through! Its a child for heaven sake You eat stake And ask "what's for desert" Because you know its *** Now face the consequences Man up,and face your responsibilities My heart aches when I see posters in streets written "One day Pain,SAFE ABORTION" They even have guts to write it in capital letters Where is the love? I always look above And say "Lord forgive them, they do not know what they are doing" "Call Dr.Naidoo on 08ABORTION" Do you call that normal? Well educated people call it abnormal. You shout Vote, vote, vote! Its election time now,I won't vote no Cope Until this stops! Who will vote when you allow Doctors and fake Doctors to **** our sons and daughters? Buphi ubuntu?

Dearest Mother I love you so much, so deep. Why do your Children make you weep? You adopted me, with a broken past Filled with hateful ideals. Thus, saving my heart. Although Im not your aesthetic child, I love you more than those, Who claim your side. My bloodline, an embarrasment, they **** your body. They steal from you, a detestable history. Engraved on the future, a history past. Of foreign Politics, your new prison Mom. And why do your children embrace this lie? Why are they standing idly by, While you wither and die? For fame? For Fortune? For Self.. For GREED... This is NOT your teachings! "UBUNTU" is... You taught me to Love beyond the colour of skin. And to love profoundly, my Rainbow Kin. Your Spirit, dear Mother, I will defend till Death. Help me return your babies back to your breast. Forgive my Ancestors, they have no clue what they did. Their greed, their hate, their fear, killed your Kid. Forgive your Children, My brothers and sisters. For their hearts are violent and full of blisters. And Mom, I know this is not your way. You show love and respect, the opposite of pain... Though I may not be biologically yours, You blessed me in your love, Showed me that with you, there are no borders. My Mother I love you. Im sorry for what they do. Though Im not your birth child, I know you love me too.. so WAKE UP my Sister WAKE UP my brother. Stand up with me. Defend our Mother. She is bruised and hurt, Cant you hear her cries? Because Her children are greedy, And dont care if She dies. Our "Leaders" **** Her out For personal gain. She is NOT for sale! I wont play that game. So Mom, I love you. I cry because of what they do. They claim your being, They claim they own YOU! But you cant be owned, or sold by any, Because you are loved, By oh so many.. Again I pledge my Love to you. Im not alone, many of your Kids are good. They embrace your teachings. They keep your ways. To live life in your Tradition, And not in shame. I love you too, my sister, my brother. In Truth and Respect, another gift from our Mother.

I am from tiny small town where a mountain looms above the village. The height of the hill prevents the eye of heaven from shining. Yet the winter night persuade its day to set early. I am from the land of ****** bliss than the internal. Love and tenderness is the first option to suffocate… Jealousy, Hatred, and disrespect amalgamated where I am from. Yet, I am from where I come from. My town, My Kasi, My land, my soil. I am from a village like town right in the medial of lowland of mount horeb Between the Drakensberg. Where the beautiful daffodils grow Just beside the stream that flows gradually, giving the inner roots opportunity to select its necessities. “I am from small family in the medial of Clarens.” I am from family full of love and affection. Ubuntu and joy perfect its image. Yet we are not that bold to be in everyone’s Eyebrow, but I am from the family of Lengau. The only unique family from love to respect. I am from the family of MaLengau, the loving and caring woman of Bakoena. I am from the family of four gentle guys and three ladies. I am from Clarens, town among towns…

Where I am from
Falling like leaves off a rotten tree. Husks of fruits and seeds; the ripen and those who will not complete their deeds. Not bound by cold decrees, nor lifted by the warm breeze. Travelers who've reached the destination, faces lost to me. We shared a way; hearts filling veins and soles stepping on lanes, dreams kept us sane, how things change; even in stagnation it's impossible for everything to stay the same. We were many now left with few, the numbers keep rising; those who now enjoy a view. Never been one to believe in haven or hell, I can feel that which separates us is but a vail. They, as the sea, are unbound free; as there are desert coasts one can know drought before they decide to float. Ships sailing on the horizon; they look like they would tip the moment the sky sings, I did not see the strike but the thunder now rings. I look for understanding not pity because ,you see, if life is like a movie my future plot now has deleted scenes because one can not simply recast anything, especially, when the actors character was the key. If Ndingumntu I'm now missing more parts of me.

Operating Dissonance
Left with no clues Broken down into two But who knew What's into you Unless relived what's untrue Trying to move too In search of new views To detach feeling need some new tools From remote access of Bluetooth Feelings stuck as glue do What's this Hoodoo-Voodoo I don't know you Or your crew Who are you?? Fly away back to Wherever you choose to Need no helping hand to go through Just an alter-ego to grow through Don't let your eyes fool you The end is near aren't you spooked too?? The colour of my blood And the colour of your blood Ain't they just the same?, Red. The blood that runs in both our veins Is the same colour, Red. The colour of my skin And the colour of your skin Ain't they just the same?, Black Yes I am from the Equatorial And maybe I am darker than you Blacker than you. Yes I am from the East, the west, the north or the south of Africa But still we all black. You might be lighter You might be blackish But still we are Africans We are Blacks. When the Whites come to your countries You call them tourists. But when us Blacks come to you You call us terrorists You call us refugees. We more than just squatters in your land, But we come seeking a helping hand from a brother. Why welcome outsiders Yet you oust you own. Why burn our shops? Why burn our shacks? Why let our souls weep? Brothers and sisters of Africa Why the violence? Why the killings? Why the brutality? Why the cruelity? What happened to humanity? What happened to Ubuntu? Violence has never solved a thing. Will killing a man with 5 children and a wife back at home, Bring food to your table? What will burning a man down to ashes bring you? What will stoning a man to death bring you? Can it pay your bills? Can it bring food to your table? Can it pay your your children's school fees? Brothers and sisters of Africa I plead with you Our, Black nation If we come together with mutual hearts and minds We can bring back love and peace We can fight poverty Just stop the hate! Our the violence! Stop the killings! It's enough!! Say NO TO XENOPHOBIA. # Treeweezy_d_poet ©2018 I am the voice of the voiceless.

Home is calling I hear it's voice It's arms wide open An African embrace I smell the grass Feel the soil on my feet My focus on home Runs so so deep The warmth, the freedom The people, the trees, Africa is calling Like a song in the breeze My roots are grounded So firmly planted A long time before Colonialism started I see jacarandas I hear hyenas Joyful singing Dancing till morning The wide smiles Cheerful eyes Ubuntu is everything Under these skies The sun is glowing On a wide African sky Insects chirping As the sun says goodbye From all over Africa Came my people To my tiny land Of my heritage I'm there in spirit I dream every night Ask ancestors to guide me Back home when the time is right To sit with the baobab To feel the connection Something so deep In my soul, a protection To go back in time At mighty Magelies Sit in silence In the area of our birthplace The cradle of humankind Is not just a name It's real, still there A place from where we all came As old as the hills An English saying Well here you can feel it These hills have seen everything The warmth The safety The love The humility And my motherland Isolated, alone, A jewel in the ocean Where few of us call home I feel the longing To be back With my brothers and sisters My soul is black Nothing fills the void Of our heritage calling Africa, St Helena, Calling and calling Africa is ours St Helena is mine Those not visited Won't understand My roots are firm......
