Remember when you promised me forever,
Knowing that tomorrow might not come,
Yet you still held on tight,
Because no matter what,
Love was all we had and that's reason enough,
To be;

Remember when you said nothing's gonna change,
Even though just yesterday you were a shade different,
And today you're no longer as blue,
While I was seeing green,
Because of all the attention you're getting,
But still you said don't worry baby,
I've only got you,
Truly;

Remember when?
Cos I barely can,
It feels like memories so distant,
When it happened not long ago I know,
Yet somehow the feeling's long gone,
Disappeared that very moment,
You decided to no longer show.

I was too immersed, in love with the idea of love.

My intellect drowning in the fascination of desire.
The ideology of you manifesting the adoration I demand.

Instead deceit trickled from your throat, oozed from your lips to plug my eardrums.

The bitterness of trickery fresh on your tongue for me to taste.
Ignorance played on repeat, rehearsing the sickly sweet tune you once sang.

An epiphany of misconception. The creator of my contorted heart, over dreamed daydreams.

How can thoughts be real
They're not solid enough to touch
So how can someone manifest
A feeling such as love?
Can you
Hold it
Breathe it
Squeeze it in your hands
It's forcing us to trust
In the invisible
Once again

Because although you can't see it
  It can still disappear
Love is the sad song
That left you crying in your beer

Blind sided
It can hit you
And you best believe it's true
Love is as real
As the way I feel for you

Sometimes,

I think of taking my hands
And ripping - splitting - cracking,
My ribcage in two.

The breastbone splintering apart,
My torso opening like a rotten tree.
The inside hollowed,
Like a lake that has been emptied

I've convinced myself that
Fragrant flowers
Would grow there.

That they would grow feverishly
In the gnawing gap
I had created.

And that time would preserve
What I had done.

Lost Boy
She was like the moon, and I the stars
For sometimes she'd disappear
Behind the black clouds
And sometimes
I would do the same.
But the moments we'd share
Together in the sky
People would gather around
To watch us in awe.

And we'd still be there
When we couldn't be seen
So close together
Yet millions of miles apart.

For she was the moon
Constant, beautiful
And I was the stars
That lived and died
Just to be reborn in her wake
I'm back on to this poetry community with a fresh slate.. its been a while but I'm happy to be back

To You

You who goes by "Lonely"
Yes you, who reads these rhymes
Please pause here for a moment
I won't take much of your time

You see my friend, I'm lonely too
In the dark with paper and pen
So I'm writing you this poem
and signing it "Your Friend"

Though I'll prob'ly never see you
nor ever know your name
I do not need to see your face
nor know your cash and fame

I do not care what color you are
how short or tall or fat
I'm weary of all these parties and creeds
So, for a moment, forget all of that

Yes you, dear friend, forget with me
Inhale this moment serene
where we are not opinions or castes
Just two humans with two glowing screens

Be human with me, simple and pure
For a moment breathe deep and feel free
then should you have the time, and a halfway good rhyme
Perhaps write a poem for me.

Signed,
Your Friend
This one isn't great, but I don't really care. I would normally throw something like this away, but the afterimage of hope made me wonder if maybe it would strike a chord with someone somewhere.  I promise to post more polished verse in the future, but all the same, thank you for reading. -ES
