surrealism
a reality that is augmented, in some way bizarre
out of place but comprehensible
momentarily you're laughing in a chapter of a novel,
sipping wine in a short film,
dancing with your loved one through your imagination
somehow you see the world from such a distance, from the outside
and
in that split second of 'what the hell am I doing'

you just have to smile and move on.

He had
those
heartbreaking
Bogart eyes,
that sad,
tender look
when we last
kissed
goodbye

I drink a perfect summer
fermented strawberry red
with a hint of liquorice aftertaste
from when the world was better
summers warmer and longer
and I wasn't even alive

A cheesy 70’s drama soundtrack
And the choppy muttons
An 80’s sitcom opening theme
With the track of fake laughs
A 90’s epic movie ending credits
Award winning sweeping songs

These things are now vintage
And priceless if you actually lived them
I’m watching six million dollar man and the cheesy soundtrack music is so awesome and those “fast running” sound effects!

Kept in a box
Back of the closet
Remnants of time
Curios of place
Before she was
Someone's mother

London Bridge
Houseboat
Out on the water
Fun with inner tube
Pink lipstick
Little black bikini
Games afoot
Cocktail in hand
Sunny smile
Saucy wink
Natural grace
Hair let down
Playful air
Provocative pose
Naked as a Jaybird
Happy as a Lark

You might call me old school,
I know I'm vintage.

I want the old timey things
from the county to the city
clicking and clacking type
swooping letters in the mail

I want the old timey things
delicate stitches along hems
cuffed and curled hair
skirts whirling and pearls

But most of all I want
that sweet old time love
brush hands and kiss cheeks
sweep your feet up love

I heard an old old Christmas song
sung by grandma on Christmas eve.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of a ****** who did conceive.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of a Christ child who will relieve.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of glad tidings we shall receive.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of peace on earth we shall achieve.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of joyful people who did grieve.
I heard an old old Christmas song
of pain eternal we shall leave.
