YOU
I can see all things
You are transparent, O Lord
All things are opaque
Dr Zik's Poetry
An extract from Book: Simple Words
Poet: Dr Zafar Iqbal Khokhar
Mrs Timetable Apr 2020
Covering my exposed
When you know it’s cold
Warms my whole body
Because it’s love
That it knows
Making sure I’m warm enough.  It’s the little things
I enjoy silent personal smiles,
Brought on by a text,
          A meme
                             Perhaps remembrance
Or the memory of a touch
An old song you just remembered
By the beat of the bus' bouncing
                     Seeing other's
              Is just about as good
As having my own
witchy woman Apr 2020
darkness coating old shoe prints,
fossilized by mud, a modern relic.

the steady pitter-patter of footsteps falling,
drawn forward, hurried

by the silent calling.

labored breath,
as beads of sweat
trickle down reddened cheeks.

tightness in my chest,
struggling to breathe.

But

I never want to stop

chasing this feeling.

sprinting forward blind,
my feet cracked and bleeding.

no destination, no plan

just the sensation of gripping
my bare toes in the sand.

or feeling the concrete beneath my soles
as I rush head first

towards everything unknown.

for when I stop
I lose the rush

palour coats my fading flush.

for the moment, it's relieving
to catch my breath

enjoy the moment
of silence in my steps

or the quell of my frantic heart beating.

yet the world continues
shift through time

I mustn't stay long

or I'll leave myself behind.

can you believe all the little things that had to happen for us to meet?
every step, every breath i took to find you.

i don't believe in fate.

can you believe all the little things that had to happen for us to be torn apart?
it started with a bat and ended in a pandemic.

i don't believe in fate.
