Echoes Of A Mind Mar 2016
Like tea with lemon
It's not always
That I'm understood
People think I'm weird
And often avoids me
Or that's how
It used to be
Back in elementary

Like tea with lemon
Some people find me sweet
While other won't even dare
To get near me
Since they don't understand
The person I am

Like tea with lemon
You can drink me from a cup
And I'll warm you up
Or you can pour me out
In your sink
Never experience
The warm feeling
Which I might have left

Like tea with lemon
You can add sugar
To make me sweet
Or honey
If that's more
To your liking

Like tea with lemon
I'll only be tasty
When I am warm
So don't let me
Get so cold
That you won't
Drink me up

Like tea with lemon
You'll have to make me
From the bottom
Begin with water and leaves
But don't forget the
Honey...
I gave myself a challenge a made a impro-poem based on the sentence "Like tea with lemon"

They ran out of choices
When a disease isn't a disease
An infection of the mind needs therapy not pills
Money isn't infinite however
So I make my own sugar pills
By telling myself I'm fine
I lie to myself, a constant state of overdose
With artificial dopamine
A simple drug and fake smiles
Little lies in little pills
As I slowly lose me
I feel like I could do this concept a much greater justice so I may rewrite this in the future

She was so bubbly
Saliva like soda
Her eyes were so bright you could hear them pop
You could give an audience to the sugary syrup in her voice
You could feel the carbonation on her lips
And you could taste the sweet fizz on her tongue.
She was so bubbly
Before you came
Now she tastes flat.

Forever an ******* deprived from grief
Because the girl she wants had to leave
Her want for her is excessive
Because her heart, it forever rests
And you claim I should have no excuses
But,
Look at what you do?
The Rose that has broken you,
This isn't what she'd want you to do
But that's none of my business
I'll keep sipping tea till I'm through.
I love black tea with a little sugar and cream.

I know you're bad for me,
but I'm addicted to you.
Cause you're my toxic anti depressant,
Couldn't do a **** thing but swallow.

Baby, your sugar coated lies rots my insides.
Short short, feeling kinda bittersweet

Like a squiggle in your eye; blink,
and
I'm
gone
because I am all lipstick smudges left under carefully-pressed lapels, or Sharpied innuendos scrawled on bathroom walls in dingy bars.
A souvenir from one ephemeral moment, a fleeting tryst of dispassion (from my side at least); before I am scrubbed bare and raw.

DON'T YOU TOUCH ME, for I am so tender.
Thrown into the wash;
you can clean me, but the stain remains.
The scent of sugar, sweat and shame.

Fill my days with sugar and smoke,
Demons in my peripheral
As I'm staring at blank screens
With my head full of thoughts
And "Maybe tomorrow"s.

I've got hair for days
And it tangles into everything I do,
Though scissors scare the life out of me.
Gets into my figure eight weeks
Cycling through the same routine.
Sleep, work, home, sleep, work, home, sleep.
Guess I never really adapted to change well.

Feigning knowledge of the written word
Even when my tongue twists
When I make casual conversation.
Feigning polite kindness
And spitting poison when they all
Have their back turned.
Feigning contentment
Even when the anxiety builds at
The sight of responsibility.

Spots on my hands,
Spots in my eyes,
Spots in my memory;
Not sure which bothers me more.

Maybe everything.

Broken sleep again tonight. Thought I'd write something.
