blind faith
lead them to believe
in a charlatan
like moles they were
sightless
to the false god

they were following
he who had nothing
of the Messiah's
tangible fabric

never did it dawn
on them
that he was selling
a religion based
on disrepute
none of his disciples
being overly astute

and still they're listening
and still they're standing
with his stead
and still they can't eye
the paucity of street cred
Shofi Ahmed Aug 2017
He looks like the moon from the sky,
His radiant eyes would steal the sunrise,
His shoulder stood high,
Heartbeats as if he smells his likely world
on his arm, there is everything but a tie!
He just doesn't have a job, been interviewed,
He expressed his qualities, many quantities,
but lost, walked out without a offer!

His sunny face was still shimmering.
The successful one, murmured 'my friend
you wasn't smart enough selling yourself!'
I don't think I wanted to do that, he replied:

Am is willing to serve to earn the means
to be served, don't mean to sale and buy.
If ethic has no value maybe then
a job is nothing but 'sale and buy'!

Numb of surroundings
                         eyes watching afar.

Fifteen minutes, a lifetime of regrets..

Tears falling  inwards....
Ladies of the night some aren't what they seem....

So, how have you been?
I know it's been awhile.
I couldn't bare to watch this creature feature -
The selling out for style.
What good is luminescence
If there is nothing to be seen?
I choose to light my words
With colors-
Blues, and reds, and greens
And shower it with glistening golden streams.
So, pardon me as I purge my disappointment.
Where does integrity go
When the walls are burning down?
The lanes are blocked with gratuitous frivolity as meaningless as the strands of fiber drifting in a beam of sunlight-
Particles of bodies that settle on the coffee table only to be wiped away by a tattered cloth.
I cry out for the setting of the sun,
That glowing orb which destroys the mysteries,
And robs the seeker of discovery.
I ask,
Are the shadows being driven into the crevices never to be seen again?
There would be no depth perception without them.
A phantom weight is here,
Then just as suddenly as it came,
has gone.
The color is washed away in all the brightness.
What is left is white,
and not much else to write,
But of the sadness of the ways
it takes the texture from the days.
I guess I can understand wanting to shed light on someone else's poem, but when you have to pay to have your own work on the front page, now called "what's hot" you really must be egoic. As I come here to visit my the poets I follow, I will pass over work that  is lighted by the writer just for the principle of integrity. If you were good, you would not be paying. You would be getting paid. I am checking put a site called poetry and quotes. I like it. Please, do not use my work to buy, sell, trade or fundraise for this or any other site.
Snags in her tights,
Chipped black on her claws,
She stands against walls,
Vulnerable to the brawls.

A skirt grazing her thighs,
Too small for her liking,
She pulls at the seems,
And feeds the old men lies.

Lips that bleed,
Mascara stained cheek,
Frame too slim,
She's in the gutter, sensual and meek.

Lady of the night,
Rolls to your car,
beckons you with her finger,
hopes you won't linger.

A ten note slips,
Into her grip.
She squeezes.
It will feed her addiction.

She has money to pay,
Children to feed,
She digs her knuckles so much they bleed.

Life carries by,
As she tries to get high,
On the fumes of other men.

But the red light comes on,
Her skirt hitches up,
She cries as he whispers
good girl.

As he kisses her neck,
She thinks what the heck
Am I doing with my **** awful life,
Selling cheap love,
To father above,
In hope she gets a better price
than the tiny sum
From every business bloke that comes, beckons her into his arms.

She pulls at her pleather,
At her last tether,
Why am I in this life?

Soho's her home,
But it leaves her numb to the bone.

She has more than budget passion,
She craves style,
She fashion.

But instead the needle pierces,
And she sinks down,
Hating the body she's in,
Women walk and they frown,
But they don't understand how the girl feels deep down,
She just wants true love.

Oh heaven above?
If there is a Holy Spirit,
Let me be it,
For this withered young *******,
Belongs in your constitute,
Please, she begs, save me from the charity brutes.
This intensity*
It's revealing to me between the lines
How much time spent worrying about nickels and dimes
It's time to make sense,
Committing a crime just to try and make it worthwhile
Meanwhile the mask you hide behind can't hide your eyes
Your disguise gets more revealing over time
Your sense of fashion is more reason to buy yourself a dime
Learn a few things
When it comes time to fly back to reality
And you find a passion for fashion
Maybe you can put on a different mask that don't look just like me
When the dollars and checks start flying out the door
And it don't make sense anymore
And you lost track of the score
Remember those nickels and dimes you found ways to sell
For a way to get your head around the lines and rhymes
This time
The lines are split in two
And there's nothing left for you to do
Except give them a sniffle and weep
While you lose control and cry yourself to sleep
Now she's eighteen
But she feels twenty-one

Dancing at a *******
You could believe she's the dopest one

As Miami's hottest *****
This was the life she's accustomed to

Selling pounds of white
She was a hustler too

Broken hearted;
A few slits on her wrist

Trust issues;
It was hard for her to commit

But then she fell dangerously
For a man named Roman

Though he wasn't a blessing
*He was an omen
