My teacher
My mentor
My bestfriend
My life coach
Without you there would be no me
Thank you for being my everything
I wish you the best this world can possibly offer
I love you so much
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day ~
mjad May 2019
I have spoken more words of hate and exclaimed more disgust,
than words fueled by respectful admiration and trust.
You think that I will open up to you the more you hover,
but my life is kept from you, completely undercover.
I hope one day I can speak all of my exciting truths
because you have been uninvited to share in my youth.
I do not need you, but to follow what every child should say,
Happy Mother's Day.
we do not have a good relationship
part two to my other poem "Mother"
The Land of Opportunity
Should not be
The Land of Indignity.
Work for you,
Not for anybody else.
They'll point their fingers
And call you the "Bad Guy"
For being the only "guy"
With a spine.
A job is a job is a job,
But your life,
Your self-respect,
Your happiness-
They're worth more
Than the world.

So make it yours.

I am finished with being a muse –
The victimized wet-dream of art
Who, slowly turning on a dais
Raised on superficial planks,
Will soon be a forgotten toy
That once loved, now has lost its charm,
And crushed into a corner waits
Till memory renews its rank.

The gods can have this blessing back.
I'll mar my face and tear my hair
And burn my robe and crown of gold
And wade in mud up to my knee,
Or suffer cows and sweat for milk,
Or brave a sea of mug and chair.
Oh, silver platter-washing, I
Would gladly be ordinary!

Yet, bar-girls also have to feign
And feint from lofty thoughts of He.
And milkmaids, too, are often set
Upon a stool above their wish.
From scullery to cloudless mount,
If privy parts inverted be,
You serve the wielder of the wand,
Obliged to lie down as his dish.
I am waiting...
Patiently....
For a New Light....
For a newer Way..
Battling..For A Fresher and Brighter Beginning
A Tomorrow....
So, the questions remain....
Just where to start..
The right spot at the starting line...
When the gun sounds...
Will you be by my side when I start such a race?
To finish with me?
Or will you allow yourself to be left behind?
As a fresher start
Means a brighter way looker forward...
Never looking back....
Is there a person in my future...

To meet me as I win the race...
To a more successful me...
From where I am standing...
Here.

Your words fall
           like webs.

And you are the spider
              waiting for the

eventual tug, to cocoon
                        my failures.

But my wings are stronger
              than your silk wordings.

And I fly free of your sorrow
             that you tried to capture
                                     me within.

Your alone, in your web of loneliness.

             And I flutter freely.
Greetings, it is merely I,
He who breathes despite the lack of air,
   Gasping at a tenuous breeze.

I'd call this breath of redundant utterings,
   A practice of utter futility.

The breadth of my wonderment at the crushing silence graced upon my deafened ears,
I stand fast as the verbal stone is cast upon my fragile being,
Your callousness resounds within my vacancy,
   Occupied by none other,
   Confined within my ceaseless selflessness,
   Even if it is imperfect.

I am merely a soul.
Cast 'pon the mercifully unforgiving earth.
Borne brazenly to those who are willing to listen,
At the risk of those who won't.

******'d herein I lye,
   Gazing 'pon the relentless monochrome.
   Searching for any guiding light.

I am merely a man,
   Searching for a home.
I am merely the mind within which I reside,
   I am,
   Merely,
   Who I am.

~Robert van Lingen
What hath I done to earn such disdain?
Thust'ly I'd treated thee with an utmost courtesy,
   And yet,

I'd call this breath of redundant utterances,
   A practice of utter futility.

The breadth of my wonderment at the crushing silence graced upon my disbelieving ears,
I stand fast as the imperceptible stones are cast upon my fragile soundings,
Your callousness resounds and rebounds within my vacant battleground.
   Occupied by none other,
Confined within my ceaseless, if imperfect, selflessness,

I am merely a soul.
Cast upon, or down'pon the mercifully unforgiving earth.
Borne brazenly to those who are willing to listen,
At the risk of those who won't.

******'d herein I lye,
Gazing 'pon the relentless, endless skies.

I am merely a man,
   Searching for a home.
I am merely the mind within which I reside,
   I am,
   Merely,
   Who I am.
I have posted an edited version.
Normally I would just edit the original poem, or if the changes are significant enough, delete and re-post.

I've decided to keep this older version up as a demonstration of the changing in my thought processes day to day.

I often go to read back poems I'd written and I just, don't like them at all.
The way they flow, sound, etc.
Usually I can change the wording to improve the flow and sound without losing the original meaning.

Feel free to compare the original and the edit side by side.
Which do you like better?
