I have always loved rains. The drizzle. The storm. The chilly air

Tonight it's a drizzle. I smile at the forlorn skies. And I'm reminded of the cold nights and your warm hugs and your kiss that burnt my cheek. And how the pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof has always lulled me to sleep. How I wake up to your good morning the next day, and how your I miss you was my cup of coffee.

But today was different. This morning it's a storm. It rained so much I woke up to a soaked pillow. It rained so much I can't look at the skies to smile. So it grinned to me with the cold air, that you are mine no more and you weren't mine at all. And then I realized, maybe I don't like rains afterall.

Large and wide
Deep and Cool
Filled with the purest water inside
It was our village's hallmark pool..

Stone lined walls on all sides
WIth steps going down to the water
And stones for washing clothes
Which also doubled for scrubbing our feet..

Live with fish and water snakes
Who were friends with us kids,
Frogs who would sing chorus during the rains
and ferns green and bright on the walls.

With overhanging trees on the banks
We came running and dived into the water
somersaulted and torpedoed
and swam in all fashions and styles...

Swimming and diving from the banks
We played "catch me if you can"
from the time we are back from schools
Till it is dark and when calls come from our homes.

With swollen finger tips
and red eyes, but
After the long swim and bath
Having dinner right away and
slipping into a good night's sleep...

Days where there were no TVs to watch
Days where there no homeworks to be done
Days where what mattered most were friends
Days which take us to the sweet childhood..

Gone is the pride of our village
there are no kids who play in the water
For there is no water in the pond
except for a few months during the rains

Kids are no longer kids
They have TV to watch
Phone and computers to play
Virtual friends to play with

Lucky we were
to have such beautiful childhoods
Such memorable friendships
Such adventurous rainy seasons
....

I lie down on the bed
with a new novel on my lap
rain splattering over the shed
page by page excitement has me, grasped

I have the candle by my side
for the warmth and the light
but the munchies got over
biting my nails in the story's *crunch
I love the evenings of monsoon in the company of a novel and yeah, a bit of snacks too.

Standing in this rain, getting soaked
*I sip the water trickling down my face

even this spoiled sweetness tastes so fine
quenching an unknown thirst
makes me high, disconnected from this polluted carnality
I slip away to that world of mine
*where only love thrives in a beautiful serenity

Sitting near the window
On a mellow morning
There’s a palpable eagerness
To wash away the summer heat
The nearest tree branches sway
In anticipation to welcome the rain
I can feel leaves talking to each other
Sudden gust of cool air touches me
Making me aware of my presence
May be the rains are on their way
The tree branches do an ecstatic dance
I look up at the accumulating clouds
Suddenly the sky opens up in happiness
Sound of rain is like the sweetest lyrical notes
There’s flowing elegance in the air
Rains wash away the last bit of gloominess
Here my heart wants to get drenched
I finally join the trees and birds
And get the taste of refreshing shower
Rains are here and there is hope writ all over

Those pearls rolling down the sky
Breezing leaves dried in sun
Touching the ***** of earth
Sweeping its skin so browned
Those moist drops of rains
Kissing every bud juvenile
Blossoming as flowers in love
Wiping the melancholic air
Those tears from clouds falling
Framing necklaces of rivers
Covering land stretches so green
Spreading smiles worth a million

Pray to the clouds
To shower you with love
Every drop will revive
The parched garden
Collect every drop
With care
See through cascade
Get a glimpse
Of natural beauty
Glowing with pride
Planted seeds of hope
In your heart
Let dreams wake up
And hope take root
Pray to the clouds
To shower you with love
It rains when you're here, and it rains when you're **g o n e.

Amidst*  the  rains ,
Came  my  teardrops

Rains wash away
The moments of gloom
Gray skies transforms
Into pristine blue
White cottony clouds
Wipe away few tears
Lights play along
Gifting a rainbow bouquet
World is brighter
Hope spreads its wings
Dreams take to the skies
