Mayapples grow as ones and twos.
Wherever they must, whenever they choose.
When they are young they rise as one
over the forest floor on a single stem.
When they ripen and are laden
with fruit and flower the one
becomes two
I becomes you.

From then on, we bloom together
not as one alone
but as two together
balanced
on a single stem.
And between us blooms a flower
neither alone could bloom before
and from us comes a fruit
to seed the forest floor.
Some creative biology here. My myth is May Apples first grow as 'bachelors' then self-separate into a couple which is when they flower and fruit.
Written with love for my dear bride Brittany on the occasion of our marriage, 5-15-15

I also like how center alignment almost turns this into a concrete poem, you can see it as a vase and flower.

I want to plant kisses all over you
and when we turn old,
they’ll grow into wrinkles.
The adventures we've gone on
will be imprinted in your mind
and they will sprout into
beautiful memories.
I've already laid a bed of flowers on you,
and I'm just watching you blossom.
I wrote the first three lines a while ago, but I  thought I'd add on. It's sloppy but I liked how it turned out. I love my handsome man♥

Hey, you.
Yeah, you. The liar.
The deceiver.
The faker.
Guess what?
I see you.

I see right through your fake bloom.
No plant is always green.
Green and motionless,
Gathering dust in the corner.
It's really not hard.
Anyone who gets close enough can see you're fake.

I don't care how lifelike you are.
You're still made of plastic in the end.
The beauty of a wilted blossom is foreign to you.
Move along.
I want nothing with you.
Or those who set you up to show.

Give me the real thing.
A flower that takes watering,
And that will eventually die.
Not this fake plastic imitation.
No, give me fleeting life,
Not the lie of immortality and perfection.

At first I thought you looked good.
Thought I'd like you around.
But your greens have become sickly,
Your reds and blues dim,
Covered with a film of dust.
Only the dead gather dust like that.

Stop smiling.
Stop laughing.
Stop talking.
Start thinking,
Start breathing.
Start living.

Maybe then we'll be friends.
Maybe then it will work.
Not until then.
No for now, keep moving.
Cause I see you.
Clear as day.
Meeting fake people makes me mad. So I figured I'd write about it.

I Used To Be an Optimistic
Child

Believing everything was black and white.
~~~~
It was the first summer in our new
home.
I was six or seven
My Father needed help in the lawn so feeling
in a helping mood, I went out.
His hands were in the dirt and his forehead
was bronzed.
He waved his arm at a small,
Delicate flower.
Go pull weeds.
Not one to question him while, he was busy,
I went over to inspect the flower- i mean ****
How could something so tiny, even more do than my hands,
be considered a ****?
My tiny mind thought weeds were
dark green and barley clinging
to life, with thorns that sliced at
other helpless plants and animals.
Almost like bad people.
I imagine it was then that
My small mind had begun
to grasp
at the idea that plants and people alike
could deceive you.
My first poem I've posted.
Why people think rain symbolizes pain?
Well for me, it symbolizes new hope.
As for the plants,
It waters them in order to grow.
Just like a person who had been hurt,
Pain makes him stronger.
Just enjoy the rain
Then you will see the rainbow after.
A day was blessed
With leaves so green
Yet also cursed
With air to breathe
Somehow it was filled
With poison they call
       gasoline
As what you did
To my lungs so fragile
When it rained
Pouring down agile
Holding light seeds
Filling my insides with
       soil
Time flew past
From then they grew
The beauty would last
And for a moment I knew
Carbon was all I could gasp
Finally realizing the odd
       renew
As a plant, I can take,
But water I lack.
When tears pour down,
It says Zeus did reign.
.
I long to have roots again,
to be tangled
and at peace.
You planted a garden in my heart,
And the flowers grow with your love.
Please don't leave then to wilt,
While leaving me to die.
Haven't been on in a bit I guess.
