Jack Jenkins Apr 2019
a year
in its entirety
since my heart
turned to glass
burned
like a silver comet
plummeting
to drown in the sea
sunk to the depths
lost
as if it were a message
placed in a bottle
it's gone
just a shadow of what was
a single vein
a string
nothing more
just numbered days
that i should have let go of
a long time ago...
//On ex girlfriend//
I found this buried in my drafts from over a year ago. Figured might as well post it even though it is old.

her name is written with sapphires on the beach
she dances like the wind in the sky
she gave me her hands when i reached
oh, her love i can never deny
Just something random I threw together. I hope you all enjoy. :)

i'm a frozen tempest
there's nothing left to bleed
my body is hollowed
emptied of it's essence
a frozen burn from my touch
fire turned to cold ash
spin me
out of control
for i am cold and weary
a broken sculpture
i cannot hear your whispers
my head is split
the veins trail to my heart
where you left your mark
oh how you killed me
with torture
before the killing blow
you said you would grow old with me
but that turned to a lie
you're a desolate soul
looking for hope & love
yet you killed me
i turned to ice
frozen solid
but melting
i still miss you
i still love you
i still hate you
what can i do?
poetry is the only place
i can speak to you
your face reminds me
to
not to trust so much
keep my love at a limit
say "fine" when i'm not
i locked you out of my life
but there's still a draft
that carries your scent
& it lets me know
i'm still hurting
from you
you were my best friend
oh you killed me...
For all my words, I'm still speechless when people ask me why she left...

my eyes are open
and it hurts
every time I breathe
the air is a little broken
all my emotions
frozen
yet the pain remains
going through the motions
grasping with fingers
gasping for oxygen
a bitter corrosion
the rain comes
falling
I can't hold on
and refuse to
let go

car glides on the road
the wet cement crackles sharp
life keeps moving on

I wrap my life in crimson sheets of paper
so nobody will notice when the blood seeps through
Jack Jenkins Nov 2017
a familiar stain on my mind
falling into the cracks i bear
bask in the uncertainty
drink in the doubt slowly
allow the ghosts
of your past to soothe you
learn to let go
& talk to yourself in the
third-person
keep losing yourself
just let it go
"Oh there's something in my mind that's killing me; there's something that this life's not giving me..."
Jack Jenkins Nov 2017
I'm taking awkward clumsy steps
through life
with weary legs carrying me
up broken trails

I'm running from myself
can't face it
I've had a dozen "eureka" moments
but my life doesn't change

I'm the only one who can change me
that's why I stay the same
plodding through life half broken
with shards of a heart left broken

Probably just out of focus
with too much I
but I'm not changing
is it my destiny to *fail?
Clumsy me can't change me. Half broken, I fail.

"... Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Five times I went through the revolving door to be spat out in the same room over and over.

Once I was in the flooded maze, seeking the ramp I could see in the distance to escape, but I saw faces amongst the plants in the water.

Once I was on cliff, sitting, whilst the darkness was congregated in the gorge below.

I can no longer explain the sword in my hands or the giants I am to soon face.

All I know is Death draws the curtains in my room whilst sharpening his teeth, and I no longer know the man in the mirror.
Reposted because it wasn't showing up in streams.

I miss my friends that have left
Lost in a place that isn't right
My heart now has no guest
My heart wanders as a foreign stranger
All alone, never would have guessed
In the end I should have known
I am shaken in the excess
My needs know only deprivation
Oddly enough I decided to stylize this poem a bit. Rhymes mixed with antonyms on alternating lines.
