You drew her in
Like the last breath you'd ever take
Drowning in her eyes
Hitting the blue and silver wakes

She reached for your hand
Shaking you from your slow descent
Her touch like a velvet rose
A warmth without an end

She laughs and you close your eyes
Hanging her smile in your mind
A gallery of your favorite pieces
Her portrait a one of a kind

Toes curl around the precipice,
quivering with fear and anticipation.
Will I be brave enough to take the leap?
Is there anything left for me if I do?

Furious winds shove me away,
echoing the warning they offer to all who trespass:
"You are not welcome here.
Turn back now or face your demise."

Throat clenching, eyes burning, I stare into the void
and it replies, breath hot on my frozen ears;
"You could have eternity, love, freedom,
everything denied to you so far. I have it all."

It purrs it's promises with a silver tounge,
words dipped in honey and roses.
But underneath it all is a mournful refrain,
whispering of a permanent end to my existence.

One last look is all I can offer,
strength draining from my chest.
I know now what I need to do.
Peace stood before me with open arms,

and I turned away.
Propelled by the winds whose advice I had chosen,
I walked into the blinding light of the sun behind me,
stumbling but on my own feet,

continuing my journey
until I could find a better end.
Even if a single jump could give me all I've craved,
the price it would cost was more than I could pay.

I'll just have to make my own peace.
Welcome to spring!
Season of love and liveliness
Occasion of novel beginnings
And opportunities

In this realm of joy
Trees charmingly give birth
To new baby leaves
Flowers blossom
Spreading their sweet aroma
In the air
Rainbow shows up with a smile
Romanticizing the earth

Butterflies exquisitely
Waver everywhere
Birds sing along
Building their nest
Fireflies appear
As Tinker Bells
Rabbits run around
With jubilation
Chipmunks dance
With gratification

This is the time
When nature writes
Its own poetry
In a beautiful form

Dew drops in the dawn
Cricket choirs overhead
The stars so neatly drawn
Above an earthly kind of bed

The birds will sing softly
As they dip and soar, alive!
Hearts beating like soft wings
Waiting for the sun to arrive

Blinking lights below sunrise
Take breath away, so honestly
I’d never seen fireflies
Until you pointed them out to me
Blanketed by the tickling fog
Excited by the breeze
Surrounded by the comfort
Of the sweet tranquility of trees

Head back in awe
Gazing at the vast sky
Eyes wide with laughter
Who knows what comes
In twilights after
When you’re not afraid to die

To learn to live in the moments
That are bright like imagery
To hang off every word transpired
By brown eyed chivalry

For once to be distracted
To truly be at peace
I allow myself to be surrounded
By the safety of your trees

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
I say a picture is a movie trailer,
of a trip down memory lane.

One look at a photo, of a time now past,
can unravel a strand of memory.

People in the photo can call to mind,
The story behind the image-
  the context that’s missing.

A photo tells a story in the mind.
Captures a candid moment-
A laugh-
A look of pure joy-

A photo tells more than meets the eye.

Picturesque people, places, and things.
Parts of life otherwise unseen.

A  stolen glance,
A shy smile,
A wistful look,

Capturing things in the moment,
That would otherwise be forgotten.

Time stands still in a photograph.
Those exact moments in time,
able to be preserved for forever.

When memory fails,
and recollection gets hazy,
Look back on the photographs.

Professional or Amateur.

Good lighting or Bad lighting.

Blurry lights or Sharp lines.

No matter the photo,
No matter the quality,
No matter the who, what, where, when, or why-
A story it will tell.

A touch of the setting sun
clouds redly stained
the wind skims through jungles
and mountains
then stops
at the entrance to the valley
solitary whispers of birds
awaits
wandering alone
in the wilderness of time
sun gradually drops
a few big trees
hold up the sky
in this valley i'm reaching
as if trying to catch yesterday's sun.
poetry, poem, poems, prose, imagery, evening, nature, sunset, wilderness, time, creative writing

The roar on the reef became very distant,
whispering but serious.
Trickle of smoke sketched a chalky line up the solid blue of the sky.
The transparencies came scavenging over the beach.
The sun is his eyes reminded him how time was passing,
for he was back to where he came from.
Yet here, his feet seemed less skillful then before.
The silence continued.
A buffet of wind made him stagger and he saw that he was out in the open, on a rock, under a brassy sky.
Sitting on the tremendous rock in the torrid sun.
Silence.
He knelt among the shadows and felt his isolation,
bitterly.
At the valley
Of butterflies
In Rhodes, Greece
I encountered
Nature's love affair
Feisty flowers
Rainbow colors
Flying gorgeously everywhere
Beyond anybody's reach
Fluttering here and there
Once the caterpillars
Magically turned into animated fairies
Gently hugging the trees
With their soft and fragile wings
Their inexplicable performance
Has fully mesmerized
Thousands of travelers
Enjoying the splendors
Of this world
And to be one of them
I am so gratified
Several years ago I got a chance to visit Rhodes, Greece and I was inspired by their Valley Of Butterflies. Here is my poem.
