I must reek of gasoline
As I trudge around
Like a slug
Leaving behind a trail
For the fire to follow
Always racing
Closer and faster
Ready to leap
And devour its prey

For it is known
as the red gliding hand
wearing a leather glove
filling my body with sand.

Hitherto, a mortal cue.
I'll watch the stars
in search of signs.
The brightest light, he told me
it's in the tunnel at the end.

I didn't want to believe him
It couldn't be true
that when the clocks strike twelve
my body falls to crumbs.

Like bread with seeds
you'll spread butter over me
paint me black and
hammer my bones to a board.

Then, when the coffin lid shuts
Plunging my soul into the void
Will god lift me up?
with his red gliding hand

For now, i go...

to the mortal watch.
Where my cells no longer grow.
I don't know about this one. Written in like 10 minutes out of the temptation to write something.

Its 8 o'clock at night but the sun won't leave the sky
Within these valleys, you will find, abandoned houses, caves and mines
And yet in all this time,
Ever since I was a child,
I never realized getting lost
Could be worse than loss of life

The sunshine waxing, waning
Like shades of purple in a painting
I sought out the water to find my way back to the trail
Somewhere along the way, my mission was derailed
I tried and failed to find anything but this Hidden Hill

[This was before the time of GPS so I had no clue where I was
and I strayed further from the passage home than I ever had before...]

That was when I heard the drums
10 beats echoed all around
So loud, but where did they come from?
So loud, but who made the sound?

I set out to start climbing
The hill that sat behind me
Following my footsteps just to find a place I recognize
Once I got up High Enough to see for Miles and Miles
I realize that I had no idea where I even was

That was when I heard the drums
9 beats echoed all around
So loud, but where did they come from?
So loud, but what made the sound?

I should have seen the highway to the west and I should have seen the ranch to the east
I should have seen the river at the bottom of the valley or my house on the hill at least
I turned around in circles thinking maybe I was lost, and it wasn't 'til then I got scared
I couldn't see a ******* thing anymore
Because none of it was still there

I checked, it was almost 9
The sun hadn't budged from the Eastern sky
I used it's burning purple light as a guide
to find my way back to a place more civilized
I arrived at the base of a hill and started climbing
Back turned to the smokestack, billowing behind me
As though for my life, I raced against time to reach the top of the hill
And lose my mind

And that's when I heard the drums - 8!
Louder now, all around
that's when I heard the drums - 7!
Louder now, all around
That's when I heard the drums - 6!
Felt the hours melting down
That's when I heard the drums - 5!
Felt the hours melting down
That's when I heard the drums - 4!
Something's coming for me now
That's when I heard the drums - 3!
Something's coming for me now!
That's when I heard the drums - 2!
I had to find a way back out
That's when I heard the drums - one!
Or find a safe place Underground

I marked every tree with an X
I sharpened the end of a stick
I had no chance to get a grip
Before I ran for my life and tripped
Slipped, fell, hit the ground
And finally the Lights Went Out

I stood there in a clearing, surrounded by a forest
Thick with trees on all sides
Each and everyone had an X carved into them
And the sun hadn't moved in the Violet Sky

I found a cave to hide in, it hadn't rained or snowed in days
So I decided to make a fire, and try to forge some semblance of safety
But something is attacking me
Something that I cannot see
And when I heard that final beat
the Smoke was in the cave with me

Such violence I discovered beneath the Violet sky above me

There was no hope for survival, so here's a word to the wise:
The journey is ill advised, to roam alone at Twilight
When the moonrise is full of sunshine
It burns your weary eyes
& the magic you find will cost you your mind
In the depths of the viole(n)t sky
The violence lies in wait there for us
Underneath the Violet Sky

Such violence I discovered beneath the Violet sky above me
Such violence I discovered beneath the Violet sky above...
My band is writing really long songs now.
I live each day with one breath that I give to a higher power.
I never know of their identity, I know they are there.
Regardless of name or history, they remain a presence in my life.
As my next breaths come, I reach solitude.
A guitar at my side and an ink pen in my right hand is my notorious duo.
I scribble in messy cursive, letters to people they will never receive,
words that only I understand.
I question myself and everything around me,
and my eyes meet my reflection at least 5 times a day.

I am caught in my brain and I hope for less pills to swallow.
Sometimes smoke gets in my eyes.
I feel full, yet empty, and both in a good way.
I hope for love in any sense, not just romantic.
My past used to define me, and as of now, I let go.
There isn't much about me, only what I make of me.

Who am I?
What do I really want to do
With this life given to me
Some nights feel like an epiphany
But most nights, I feel stuck in an endless existential maze
How I wish I can find the answer
Shall I trust Adler?
To believe in a fictional final goal
And trust that all of this will make sense
That someday, everything will “fall into place”
How I wish I can find the answer
To this seemingly never-ending struggle of mine,
To that one question of “Who am I?”

The insignificance of human life is found in those moments where you confront your own mortality
And realize that everything is as it ever was and is as it will ever be.
But I’m not ready to face the insignificance!
We're here now; living, breathing, writing. Does that count for naught?
I refuse to face the fact that one day no one will remember the people I love and cherish,
The people who make up my world.
I want everyone to know their names and beautiful horrid faces.
I want everyone to know the people who shaped me and thus, I want everyone to know me.

I seek you through the fog
I seek you through the rain
And I can't seem to find
Something less insane.

When I keep myself tethered
I am tossed by this weather
When I keep my thoughts unfettered
I fear of getting lost forever.

But I don't think I'll ever resign
To the torrent in my mind
Not to the fear
Nor to the pressure
I must overcome my aggressor.
I still am impartial to rhyme schemes, but my mind had other ideas

I’m ****** in a California basement. The hot, stale, air circulates through a table fan.
The world melts
away.

I’m left with just my thoughts.
Usually I’d be freaking out right about now,
But the fly on my guacamole is whispering the secrets to the universe. I listen to him hum, he says that I’m doing fine. That just because I faced this blunt to myself doesn’t mean I have to have a bad time.

He’s right. Usually I’d ruin it by getting existential.

As I draw deeper into my own self I understand Plato’s perfect forms theory and collective consciousness. Or whatever.

I giggle at my small hands.
“Was I always this small?”
“Yeah. Since day one. A premature baby who’s lungs could have given out any moment.”
“Huh. Wild.”
“It takes a lot to be alive, I guess.”
“Oh hey,

That’s kind of deep.”
