A mask and then goodnight
A shake and then the light
The scent of berries haunts my breath;
I prayed it all went right

A feel and then a sigh
A tap and then a cry
The colorful cast engulfed my body,
And then I thought to pry

A question left unanswered
Plagues a curious mind
And as a child, I had hopes, that
All my answers I'd soon find

But all there was to come of that
Was pity and his old friend pat,
A "close your eyes, you need to rest!"
And that is all there ever was to that

She’s happy.

Her eyes are as bright as
Sunrise on the morning dew so
You can’t see the sorrow
They hide.

Her voice is as gentle as
A new mother’s careful touch so
You can’t hear the pain
She cries at night.

Her heart is as generous as
A dying man’s final wish so
You can’t tell it’s hand stitched back together
With threads of disappointment.

She’s happy...
But only so you can’t see
That all she really is
Is numb.

my day
a museum
of disappointments
and I'm
the biggest tragedy
in the shelves
lately struggling with insecurities in a wolrd full of disappointments

Yours, marie

I'm breaking and can feel my cracks
Expanding and loudening with every snap
Emotional turmoil and feeling delusional
Will I be jumping off the plank soon?
Will I be tempted to pick up metal again?
Will I try to escape from all the pain
With that chilling bright pink and red?
I can't go back down there again
Down the endless pit my mind constructs
Every now and again to put me in my place
I've been so happy, been feeling so full
I've had him for support until he leaves
Then I become an inanimate vessel
For a breaking, shattering mind
My body feels tender and pathetic
I had so many plans for productivity
Excitement for senior year,
Getting my **** together, finally
Tossing and turning
Anxieties are rushing
Shooting pains so numbing
Woke up to find splotches of bloodstains
A whole *** massacre on my bed

It was my ******* period.
No wonder I'm so constipated
I'm actually still waiting for it to come lol... any day now.

I did ask....
But there was no reply

I’ve been asking for days now....
in my head
In my heart
In my soul....
But of course
How could you know,
How could you answer?
When verbal was not I ....

Knocking on your door
But no one's home today
I brought a cake and iced champagne
It was supposed to be a special occasion
I call and get no answer
I get no explanation
I'm just standing here by myself
But I guess that's how it goes
So, oh well
Songbirds
Lovebirds
What difference does it make?
It's all a dance to be danced
The end result is the same
Everything that happens winds up in the grave
Still wide awake at 2
My palms sweat in a motel room
See you again?
Maybe the next time
Maybe someday soon

It all began with a simple search for a cure.
But tomorrow is filled with fear for sure
Crocodiles and snakes will now need to lure--
Who will go to jail next to keep the nation “secure”?

The Filipino ferocity is finely defined.
We will always fight until the end of the line.
For the justice, we’ll charge then add a finel
Everything that has started, finds an end in design.

What would the past “terrorist” Jose Rizal say
If he knew the elected far from duty astray?
Would he join the gagging nation in this age and day
For rights and freedoms nabbed like thieves all the way?

Politicians aren’t gods to be expected of mercy.
So we’ll do all the work and then make them see.
Do they witness and laugh, lay back, take it easy?
Are their souls still present or just absentee?

Do they not hear all the people who sing
In the Kawit-like pride at independence’s first ring?
Where now is the candidate who won by promising
That he’ll be fine in hell if we were paradise-living?

Everyone who was chained will meet freedom too.
Just so if peace was the goal, real and true.
Won’t stand anymore for a sky in dark hue.
There’s a change coming in the way the wind blew.

Don’t walk away, and keep your eyes open.
Listen to what was spoken, read up on what is written.
History will remember all our actions taken,
If to God, people, or nation, your loyalty was given.
This is the most direct translation of the poem "Ano Na?" Which I've written in Tagalog. This piece was written from a deep place of anger and disappointment in newly "improved" Human Security Act of 2007, and the methods the administration of my country has executed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The original Filipino version of this piece is set to be published on Panday Sining's Karatula VI.

never met a soft-button girl,
one I could keep in my pocket,
could fasten my shirt,
keep my jeans up,
on my hips.

never met a soft-button girl before,
only nylon string and elastic,
no good for stitching up wounds,
only good for lacerations—
she snapped,
again.

It did not happen
    it would have happened
        it could have happened
            it should have happened
     but

It did not happen
longing for unrealized possibility
