your heartstrings are becoming more apparent.
all the swooning and looming in summoning forth your own beautiful musicians to repeat the melodies you once had with me.
i cannot bear to witness you seeking such wonders to tremble what you know is immortal

nontheless, i too wonder to this day, why you're still searching for me in every woman
im not good at titles so feel free to offer alternate names

velvety dreams
a palette placed upon perfection
soul dancing upon the hymns of harmony
illuminating herself with her light

a goddess in her mind
she leaps across the milky way
and creates worlds with every step

she is her own being
one of oneself
forever sanctioned, forever eternal

American Funeral
huda Jun 2017
i breathed in america
letting the nation erode my lungs
my air became as clear as liberty
and my posture echoed stature
i let america engulf my lungs
she breathed for me

as i engaged myself with the country
she began to embrace my body
moving my arms, walking my legs
i let it’s peaceful stride carry on
every step i took began with equality
and ended with bravery
a nation and her civilian
what a bond, they always say

but then something seemed off
i couldn’t understand america
or what she wanted
america turned left when i wished right
my ears began to bleed every time i listen to preachers
but they were fine when it came to politics
america
the country stuck her claws into my heart
turned my blood into oil
then i lost
control

under the wrapper that read ‘america’
there lay something daunting
balletically roaming around with
its profound malevolence
snickering as it held the chains of the people
crying, screaming

who knew what what it could do,
the land of the free and the home of the brave?

mopping our blood with star spangled rags
i then exhaled my freedom

here you are
your head on my grave
still whispering the 'i love you's'
that caused the death
of me.

He who knew no sin
huda Jun 2017
so criminal yet delightful,
an everlasting face of foolery
words wisps upon his lips
entangled with truths masked
within lies

he is pretentious
attempts carry on as persons
so polite yet deadly
he who makes those feel centered
ignorant to the strings lifting their arms
feet dancing to the rhythm of their doom
intellect marking no boundaries

the earth beckons at his feet
the wind kisses his face
you can smell the fear in the air

the world is his kingdom
who is he?

Heartache
huda Jun 2017
i miss the 3 a.m. blossoms you left across my neck
the dance we created from the movement of our bodies
and the harmonious sensation of our skin

i miss how you made my heart screech the heat of the summer
in the bleak of winter
how you made me forget what language to speak from the
movement of your lips

i miss how the words 'i love you' rung in your voice
in such a way i can visualize it and grab it from the air
engulf myself in its serenity
and say it to you back

i miss the way the sunlight gleamed in your eyes
the way your hands felt
the way your smile invented my happiness

i miss everything about you
but why don't you miss me?

Masks
huda Jun 2017
A room
walls aligned with porcelain faces
a simple glance is treated with 100 stares
one look from the faces can pierce the aura
of your soul
secrets cannot be held here
you cannot be yourself here

Come along, grab a face
wear it
let go of the filth you carry
and mask it
disguise yourself into anything that is not you
and let your insanity be
our sanity

sunken tears
huda Jul 2021
these months have tainted hues of midnight blues upon my cheekbones, scathing trails of unmarked tears that refuse to fall.
they lay neighbored next to my eye comfortable and still, knowing what lays beyond will hurt more than what brought them before me.
i can no longer cry.
  i can no longer speak.
this poem is what i could manage out of... this. no one could tell that my flesh and bones have been ****** and plucked of life.
a sithering garden of greys and graves amidst this summer of weary blues.

i can no longer remain
i can no longer remain.
