Nightcalls

Nights get heavy.
When every thought becomes a curse.
Sleep is waylaid.
When every subtle nuance you begin to nurse.

Hours grow long.
Rest becomes a dream.
Seconds start to undo...
Every stitch in every seam.

Shadows come to play,
as their dance warps your grasp.
Demons come to say...
That you’re welcomed in their sinister clasp.

You remind me
of my
past
that could
never
have been
my

Damaged people love you like a crime scene
Before any crime had been committed
They kept their running shoes right next to their souls every night
One eye opened in case something changed whilst they were asleep

Damaged people love in the most broken way
Damaged people love in the most gentle way
Damaged people do not love
Damaged people love too much

Their backs are always too tense, too tight
Made this way from carrying too many broken things
Because we all know broken things are the heaviest
Just look the weight of a broken heart

Damaged people will love that too
Damaged people love broken things
Because they remind them of themselves

Damaged people take broken things
And love them to the end
Trying to find that one broken thing
That will fit their cracks.

Damaged people love so well

They love like this because they have already seen Hell
And they know that every evil demon
Was once an angel before they fell.

poetry is hard
everybody wants to read
your most personal thoughts

the only success you'll see
is when you paint your heart across the page
and pour your soul into pressing that simple "save"

my voice seems worthless until I spill my secrets for the world to see
but what if I want to keep secrets to myself
and let the world see what it thinks it wants

let me write soppy stories of summer days
or mornings filled with cliched coffee cups
loaded with the "real" problems every poet apparently has

the real Problem is that everybody has a problem with not having problems
why can't we be happy having perfect lives

instead, I have to pretend I have problems
when all I really have is the standard stress that comes with being young

The closest thing I have to a real problem is the parabola on my worksheet and the other math problems beyond it

I'm no different from any other aspiring author
wanting recognition for lying
and exaggerating
and imagining problems into existence

because no story exists without conflict
and no peace exists with problems
so we have a bit of a perfect problem paradox

At some point we all ask ourselves
why we do exist,
Why life keeps going on and on
until we are dismissed.

We try to create a meaning,
to the meaningless of it all,
A meaning that will help us up,
when life will make us fall.

"You have to make the most of it"
is what people say,
The most of school, the most of work
the most of every day.

The days build up to years
and time will pass us by,
We'll soon begin to wonder
if life just is a lie.

We lie when we are buying
those things we never desired,
We lie when we are living,
when all we are is tired.

Our smiles keeps fading more and more,
our laughs are never real,
We keep on dreaming of love,
yet sorrow is all we feel.

When we get old and tired
waiting  to be dismissed,
That's the time we'll question,
if we ever did exist.

I tend to distance myself from venomous people.

Like snakes they slither in to your life

And strike when your most vulnerable.

Deceptive and devious

Masters of manipulation.

I know some snakes.

Slimey, cold hearted, slithery snakes.

The way they insert themselves

into your heart

and extract the deepest and darkest information

Only to use it against you

so effortlessly
its repulsive
Yet impressive

Keep yourselves from snakes
Slimey
Slithery
Sneaky
Snakes
They'll ruin you
To my dearest "friends"
I love others more than I love myself; I hate to see others in pain, but when it comes to me. I'm fine.

Panic
The panic sets in
Why am I panicking
Air?
Am I getting any air?
Why am I not getting any air?
How do I breathe again?
In out
In out

A shuddering breath
In
Out

A cold sweat sets across my skin
Everything feels heavy and tight

My muscles
My fingers
My skin
My chest

So tight

Pinned inbetween the bed and the wall
Wound up in a ball

Someone please
Help me get air
