Cranberry Lips
Schuy Dec 2016
He captured an adventure
And never purchased the idea of
Letting this rose go
Every delicious inch captivating
From cranberry lips
To cranberry toes

He longed for her wild
Wanted to explore the depths of her heart's garden
But alas, he had a lack of key
As time progressed
He moved his home into her heart
Their love always purer than you and me

They fought daily
Somehow making it sound like music
Their tone never led to a falling out
But, their love provided sickness
Dark disease struck
Cancer, the only thing that gave Cranberry lips doubt

Cranberry lips, what a beautiful sight
Too bad it ended with Cranberry lips
Cold as snow, a colorless white

He moved out of her heart
Remembered cranberry kisses
Wished to follow her path, be together but dead
Remembered cranberry kisses
Pulled the trigger of the gun situated beside his head

Cutting his life short, his blood spilled

Cranberry red
We had to write a poem for school that used words from Carl Nelson's 'The Heartiest of Season's Greetings.' It had to be at least two stanzas long, have a minimum of five lines per stanza, and each line had to have at least one meaningful word/phrase from Nelson's in it. The     words in the poem that are bold are the meaningful words/phrases. I think the end result is pretty good. :)

Exhale
Schuy Dec 2016
Breathe it in
Take it all in,
Everything
And don't you dare let it go
Look around you
Take time to see the trees
To count the stars
To paint a million sunsets
Look around but do not see
Listen,
Hear with your eyes
Do not merely see an ocean's waves
Hear the rhythm with your eyes
Hear
Listen
But do not just see
Still holding that breath in?
Now it's time to let it go
Let go of the whispering voices at school
Release yourself from their words
What they say isn't true
Let it all out
Let it all go
You're stronger than them
Rise above their words
But be careful that the thin air on this mountain
Doesn't suffocate you
Remember to breathe
Inhale
Survive
Exhale
Live

Crybaby
Schuy Jan 2017
You marveled at her beauty
And began to turn chartreuse
Poking fun at her
Only made her think of a hangman's noose

She bawled bitter tears
But there was no turning back
You fired insults
Her cracking with every attack

You made her life miserable
Called her crybaby
Never regretting anything
She's spending a lot of time away from school lately

Turns out she wasn't skipping,
Actually she's dead
And it seems that your words
Were the very thing that took off her head

So when you're at her funeral
Weeping and wondering why
Just remember
That it was you who first made her cry
Death is never the answer. There is ALWAYS a way out. Have faith. Keep going. You can make it.

Beautiful
Schuy Dec 2016
Advertisements are fake
For not even a purebred skinny
Looks like that
With kneecaps the size of a penny

It's all fake
Everyone is cropping
Everything they can
To get that picture popping

An employee yells
And there go her thighs
Another one screams
So say goodbye to brown eyes

Oh? They heard you liked your curly black hair
But, we all know that Barbie's is blonde and straight
So replace yours
Or else you'll never find a mate

Conform to society's ways
And no harm will come to you
But if you decide to "Be Yourself"
We'll take that as our cue

To fight against you
Until there's nothing of you left to cease
We'll say thank you for playing our little game,
So sorry you had to leave

Petals Are Liars
Schuy Mar 2017
Picking petals
Pretending to be pleased s
At the growing pile of no's
Not once was a yes given
I lie to myself,
Thinking it was just a coincidence
That every petal I plucked
Was adding to the belief
Of the possible
I went through a whole garden
Of roses and daisies and petunias,
Found the last flower
And was sure that this time,

This time,

The impossible would finally
Become not

One by one the petals
Fell to my feet,
And as each petal was lost
A piece of my heart
Left with it

I was sure this time
That he loved me
.
.
.
Not

Old story
New trust
What you've seen of me
Was just the crust
Wipe away the grime
Of my old life
The icky part when I went through the motions
Silently, like a mime
But now I feel the need to
Scream and shout
I want to express,
To let it all pour out
I'm like a bomb
Just waiting to explode
Say the wrong thing
Might send me into irrational mode
In my faith I will stand
Firm like a lighthouse on the ocean
Knock me down, scrape me up
And I'll bleed pure emotion
I'm in an invisible army
With me, myself, and I
Tonight we're raiding imagination land
So don't bother to stop by
Sticks and stones will break my bones
But words will hurt me more
They say it's nothing, don't worry about it
But I feel it in my core
All these things, these words
Describe how I exist
Never normal, always a maddening mess
My rant is over, with that you are dismissed

Humpty Dumpty
Schuy Dec 2016
In the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme
Humpty is you and Humpty is me
Until I've made my point clear,
The air will be society
Now in this particular tale,
Mr. Dumpty starts by sitting on a wall
That is where we are
Looking down, not wanting to fall
But the air pushed and shoved
Until Humpty wasn't scared of the drop
So he let the air push him just a little bit more
Then Mr. Dumpty went tumbling from the top
Humpty wasn't ready for death
But by now it was far too late
All of the horses and all of the men
Couldn't accept that this was fate
They tried to patch him up
But their efforts were to no avail
No matter what they did
Everything ended up a fail
It seems that we're done with the Dumpty rhyme
In which Humpty was you and Humpty was me
And I think that I've made my point quite clear,
That evil is often disguised as society

Matches
Schuy Aug 2016
The stars of her eyes
Were barely visible through the windows of her soul
So she came to society
To ask for help to brighten her glow
Society gave her a match
And said, "Don't be shy"
So she lit her eyes up
Without ever asking why
The flame started out slow
But spread faster than disease
So instead of being the brightest star
She found herself being swallowed by the seas

Sticks and stones may break her bones
But words will give her doubt
When she stands in front of the mirror,
Wishing her stomach didn't poke out
Sticks and stones may break her bones
But words will give her doubt
When she goes to the gym
And tries working out
Sticks and stones may break her bones
But words will give her doubt
As she begins to stop eating,
And days later, blacks out

Don't play with fire is good advice, they knew
So they played with words
Thought it was okay
Obviously, they had not looked from her point of view
This happens way too often, and it's not okay. Help stop this by standing up for those getting bullied and show kindness.

Do Or Don't
Schuy Dec 2016
Maybe she's a crybaby
Or maybe he's difficult at times
And maybe they overdo some things
But that gives you no right what so ever
To fire a bullet at a fellow being
They dodged the bullet this time
But what about the next time?
And the time after that?
Because you know what?
Whoever you're shooting at is eventually going to get tired
They're going to get tired of surviving life
Rather than living life
They're going to get tired of dodging your **** shots
Then they've let down their defenses
And that bullet that you have aimed at their heart takes their life
Now you're a murderer
But all of this,
These ongoing battles
These blood strewn battlefields
These victims that just can't take it any longer
This all can be avoided if you would just lend your target your shield
You could walk away with an ally
But, most leave with blood on their hands
Don't be the one behind the gun,
Instead help the wounded bandage their bullet holes
You never know if your words will be the gun
Or if they will nurse a broken soul back to health
Do or don't,
The choice is yours

Ticking Clock
Schuy Dec 2016
Tick

     Tock

Time flutters and flits by
With no rhythm at all
A moment's gone in a second
A battle a devastating hour
Time takes away
Love, loss, life;
All controlled by the tick-tocking device
Time rarely blesses
It gives and gives
But no joy is wrought
Because the clock's ticking
And it isn't going to stop
We just live in this chaos,
Hoping for just one more tick
Or one more tock

Tick

     Tock

          Ti-

Your clock has stopped
