Voices in My Head
copykitten Sep 2019
Putting my hands over my ears
Intent on blocking the world's clamour
Once again alone with you
In this darkness of the voice within
Your sweet existence in my head
Saying 'I love you'
Caressing my name
Singing songs I'll never forget
For once, I just want to get lost
Carried away by things that don't exist
Forever walking in a dreamlike trance
Hand in hand with you
To this fabricated reality of our joint souls
Hallucinations, are you?

Didn't They Mean Something?
copykitten Sep 2019
Darkness, shadows
They've never been his foes
Lurking around as he goes
Even to his death it follows

What's that thing with no nose?
Nobody ever knows
But only to him it ever bows
To others it shrieks and claws

Drowning alone in his sorrows
And all his miseries and woes
Waiting silently for tomorrows
As older and older time grows

He wanted nothing of those
Poisonous as black widows
Repulsing all that knows
Leaving him alone and lost

It wasn't darkness he chose
Looking at a candle that glows
It just felt like blows
And his heart hollows

He tried putting on shows
But they never lasted long
He ends up standing alone
Wrapped in ashes and smokes

One day he's had enough
And he shut his door close
From his one, loyal ghost
Till at some point it finally goes

That was when time froze
And when he finally knows
That a shining star only glows
Inside the deepest, darkest jaws

Oh, the insults he throws
Not to his woes and foes
But to those loyal as dogs
How he regrets them most!

But one thing he can't oppose
The line of present he can't cross

Left Unsaid

I let my eyes speak
I smiled and tilted my head
I captured you with my gaze
And invited you to dance

I let my feet stride
I found you when you hide
I walked beside you together
And brought us even closer

I let my hands charm
I protected you from harm
I embraced you when you're lonely
And held your hand in the alley

All this time I shut my mouth
For if I talk, I'll only say three words
Which in turn would erase everything
'Cause I can see you're still not ready

In Our Own Little Worlds
copykitten Sep 2019
I know not enough words to weave you a beautiful story. The extraordinary sceneries, the overflowing emotions; I can describe neither. And you'd put me in a great deal of trouble and frustration if you ever ask me to describe life, for any words I speak will never equal to this – this undescribable journey. I long to tell you all the little things I notice everyday, how beautiful the scene outside my two by three window today. You, who constantly complain about the daily stresses you experience; I want you to notice the things I see. Why are you so blind to the lilies outside your window, brushing against it in an attempt to say hello? What about the sound of rain, have you never stopped to listen? You told everyone that you hated life, but don't you understand that life loves you, despite every insult you've ever thrown at her? If you ever ask me about life, I'll tell you so many more things. I'll be life's spokesperson, since you seem to be deaf to her cries. Perhaps you'll understand if I try to say these things out loud. But alas, I've never got a chance to do so, because you've never asked about life. But I suppose that one should ask my name first before one could ask about things like life.

I saw something in you
I glimpsed it in your eyes
Look at me, now
Let me see your fire again
Ablaze amidst amber eyes
Consuming me wholly, fully
Soft, caressing flames of emotions
Of passion, of sheer will
Mixed with anger and grief
Burning me alive, inside out
I accepted everything
And loved all of it
Now close those wistful eyes
Lower your head and come closer
So that I can whisper a question
Why are you too afraid
To let it engulf the rest of you?

Same Difference
copykitten Sep 2019
Can you recall everything I’ve said to you?
Can you tell me the things we used to do?

Tell me a story once more
About whomever we have been before

Sing me to sleep with your sweet lullaby
And kiss me with your love that doesn’t lie

Vow to me that you will never ever change
Though these words will sound strange

Promise me you’ll stay with me forever
Stay up late and laugh together

Run through the forest and get lost in it
Fields and rivers, coming home with grit

These days might be insignificant
And I know that you are now different

Both of us chasing a different aim
Despite everything, my love stays the same

Laid Bare

Love me.
Never have I said such words so explicitly.
For who I am, the mess that I am.
Never have I admitted how weak I am.
As a human being, as your friend.
Never have I been so in touch with my emotions.

Tell me that you'll have my back whenever I mess up.
Never have I been brave enough to trust someone else.
Tell me that you'll always be there for me, when we are happy or sad.
Never have I put down the mask of a smile when I am in company.
Tell me that I am enough, not too bad and not too good.
And never, never have I felt just right.

It was always 'If you do this right, I'll appreciate you.'
It was always 'If you help me, I'll give you a hand.'
It was always 'If you love me, I'll love you back.'
I have nothing else to offer, this is who I am now.
You can take it or leave it, and I won't beg you to stay.
Because in the end, love is a choice, and I can't ask you to love me.
