The Messiah Complex
Complacency is often mislabeled genius
In poems teeming with pretentious words
and trite metaphors bought in bulk
over compensations for a poem lacking depth

There's an elegance  in simplicity
a celestial spark, in the ability
to make the ordinary seem divine
and to turn simple into sacred

We are all gods, aching in our humanity
we are all oracles, with prophecies waiting to be told
So dip your pen a little deeper, press pen to paper
until heaven is felt in every verse

*G e n e s i s  is only a poem away

It is not easy to swim in the sea
I have to go with the waves
But find something to hold on

It is not easy to fly in the sky
I have to go with the wind
But still need to care for my wings

It is not easy to just follow with the flow
I have to listen and then I have to feel
I have to see like I have to consider

It is not easy to be a human
I want to be good
But it is not just about me

Life is like that
We cannot hold all what we want
But the truth is we were given what we need

Life is learning
To live what we need to be
And not always the way we want it to be

Life is a continuous study
An unending way of learning
For to live is to learn who we are
And who we should be...
Learning still...
God helps. Love guides.

Dreams within you take flight
Embraced with the wingspan
To wander the high skies
And deliver messages of love
Shower from high above
Stars that you have plucked
Glittering with your generosity

our eternal joy of love
     shall remain
            our eternal joy of love
                 shall always sustain

for we are so deeply
    and earnestly in love
          this world is so beautiful
             because of our enduring love

in the arms of love
  we'll ever be
and we'll be in a state
              of endless glee

our eternal joy of love
     shall remain
            our eternal joy of love
                 shall always sustain

the days and nights are ours
    to share perpetually
       my darling and I
           enveloping in honeyed harmony

nothing shall blight
            our divine wonderland
                 we'll be ever linked
                        in an exquisite love band

our eternal joy of love
     shall remain
            our eternal joy of love
                 shall always sustain

Two heads are better than one
One heart is better than two
Two heads meet and fall in love
One heart beats in rhythmic flow

One shared heart always content
Two heads always searching for
One shared heart, can meander
Two heads can pass in the night

Two heads are better than one
One heart is better than two
Three heads is a crowded room
Four hundred heads seek one heart

One heart is two times the love

Years disappear
under shifting dunes
of days and endless nights.
A quiet cloaks
the ticking house
as summer falls
slowly on the crystal coast.
Evening tide is running out.
Days get shorter by the day;
moonrise comes early
above the straight blue line.

Through the faded curtain
a lone ship far out to sea,
a gull floating on a breeze,
driftwood on the shore.
A young boy casts his net
and pulls it back once more.
Catching memories
discarded in the sand;
another dune is born.
He turns his back upon the ship
and wanders home.

Night Lights.

At midnight her heart, a vulnerable spark,
looks for some warmth for fire.

There is something warm, warmer than herself;
something to keep her alight.

She speaks in shortcuts; '***!'s and 'LOL!'s,
and in pictures; smileys and stickers...

Hoping he will  love her quicker;
Hoping he will love her at all.

But at midnight a heart, vulnerable spark,
is tired of looking for fires.

There is nothing warm, warmer than herself;
nothing can keep her alight.

She'll fizzle and freeze into cold blue hues
and shortcuts and pictures will fade...

But he had just loved her slowly;
In hoping she'd love him at all.
Again, Facebook *****.

Results have come back, in good news they lack
Paper held in trembling hands
She hasn't a clue, as to what she should do
Tears forming watery bands

The child wonders on, where her moms hair has gone
She accepts 'cause she isn't the wiser
The mom dries her tears, and puts aside fears
The results? Well they didn't surprise her

Her form ever frail, her soft skin is pale
Her sanity nearing derailment
Her child is fair, with wind in her hair
But the mother's the one with the ailment

She pushes the swing, her daughter she brings
Gentle movements like a dancer
Soon to be dead, hood over her head
Mother has terminal cancer

Musfiq us shaleheen
Sticky eye lines are shaded by her vain
Longing her pain beyond the pain
Sky gathers the clouds pang
My Love slowly raises its gain

Water color pales her face
Rain may be drop on surface
The song slowly ups her face
Love slowly moves her to race

She don't know how to race
I try and try her face to face
I move her through case to case
And moon slowly shines her face

@Musfiq us shaleheen
Love changes a pale face slowly...
I take sad song and make it better...

Rolling over with desire
Lay neath the fuchsia petals

Morning sun sets ablaze
Your cinnamon hair let down

He wonders how ? that ,
That perfect porcelain face caged  him ?
When he has painted it

The fragrance he can't sense
Becomes his captor .

He stroked those almond eyes
With the dark of the night

She lay in his picture , his muse
Like aphrodite herself came alive on his canvas

Wishing he could just lay there
He curses saying ....
He's just an artist and he'll find another muse !
An artist can breathe life into his work ....or he could also condemn it to death

Katlyn Orthman
I sit within these walls,
Darkness swallowing us whole
The night invading the room
Making this world feel microscopic

Moonlight trickles in through the curtains
The ceiling fan spinning on high
And memories are flooding my brain
Fleeting moments I can't deny existed

A pain breaking it's way back into my mind
A sadness that brings me down sinking me under
The unfortunate second that I become aware
Of every broken piece of you and me

Left inside of this outer shell of a human body
Yet the only thing I know is....
This is a night for poetry
