Artists minds
Have fragile souls
The delicate way
We pen our words
Shows our vulnerability

We bare our scars
Triumphs
Hopes and dreams
To heal the pain
Of our wounded hearts

We must create
For our own understanding
Self-discovery
To process the turmoil
And calm our fears and anxiety

Tattooing our thoughts
On our readers minds
Letting each person who reads
Carry a piece of the pain with them
Until there is none left

Some voices are silent
Because they have nothing
Meaningful to say

Some voices are silent
Because they know perfectly
Words have weight

Some of them walk away
Because they don’t understand you
And are too indifferent to try to
Anyway

But
Some of them won’t stay
Because they feel too much
To not be hurt by the smallest things
You may say

They both feel the same way
Silent, indifferent, hurtful and
Angry
So, you keep your hopes up
And pray
So, you never yield your love
And wait

But, don’t wait
A soul that will love you
Like you love them
Will also be the same

You are one that feels everything
And so every little thing hurts you
In every possible way
You are impossibly and impractically
Stubborn
You will believe something again and again
And you will love with all of you
No matter how many times you’ve been hurt

But you love in your own way
Unreserved, unyielding, loud
Yet sometimes completely
Silent

You are covered in calluses
And so are they
There are simple words
You struggle to say
And like you
They will take the littlest things
In the worse way

You are exactly the same
Yet, when you are together
You might seem universes away

If you wait
They will wait
A soul perfect for you
Might never come your way
Even if you’re right next to each other
At the same place

The mirror will only reflect what’s right in front of your face

That soul might love you for all of eternity
Till the end of time and space
But
If you wait
Their love might be words
You will never hear them say

Because, everyone wants to feel safe
And everyone wants to be loved
And not someone whose heart
Gets to be thrown away

They would rather keep quiet
Than to loudly love anyone
That they might love back
Bare and purely, with an open heart
So prone to be hurt

So, don’t wait
Love bravely with your already callous heart
Those that seem to back away
And don’t give up
The most beautiful souls will take eternity
To feel safe.

Softly lit  sunsets and turning leaves
Little feet skip in a pumpkin patch
Crisp air causing goosebumps
Warm apple cider being sold batch after batch
I am gentle, just like autumn

Slick Ice and bitter air
Blizzards wreak havoc on little towns
Slush is thrown to street corners without care
I am fierce, just like winter

Cannonballs into clear cool water
Tan lines born out of hours in the sun
Road trips and bucket lists promise adventure
Long days with endless possibilities to come
I am exciting, just like summer

Light rain offers new like
Little buds turn brown into green
Glimpses of long awaited sunshine
Earth turns into an exquisitely painted scene
I am growing, just like spring

On the first day he wrote her a song
but when she read it, she didn't smile
so he asked her what was wrong
she said "nothing" but couldn't look into his eye.

On the second day he gave her roses
red as the blood that runs in his veins
but even so he felt her heart slowly closes
and her love from his body drains.

On the third day he took her to the shore
and showed her the waves and the stars above
but from her face it was clear she wants more
and he can never be enough.

On the forth day she had moved on
but he could do no such thing
because just before dawn
they found him hanging

by the shore, with the roses and the song.

Where the silence falls, glass shatters & the truth spills out
like water

I find that I can't stand the quiet of stillness
It brings back the haunted memories
That I have been running from for years

So while I am scared of silence,
Of groaning doors & floors,
My mind screams hate filled words
That break me...

I yearn for peace

I know why the caged bird sings.

It's not because his song
is as vibrant
as his feathers, that he plucks away
each day because he doesn't
feel beautiful.

It's not because of the majesty
that exist in the freedom
of being able to spread his wings
though he knows
he'll never rise to the occasion.

He sings because he believes
that this cage
was made for a king
because he has never tasted
freedom with a side order of skies.

He's never flown past the sun
on a cool morning
or hung with the moon
on a warm night.

He's only ever known
the comfort of a prison
that his thoughts have
become accustomed
to calling home.

He would never venture
beyond the "welcome" mat
because what's beyond the threshold
holds no promise
the way these bars and metal locks do.

He sings because he knows
that no one is listening
so if he makes a mistake
he doesn't have to live with the regret
or embarrassment of knowing that he missed his note.

The caged bird
never believes that he's caged
because behind these walls
he's safe
and he prefers it this way.

I know why the caged bird sings.

Oh, but the pain we suffer
Alone in the dark, at night
Ruminating lifes agonizing flaws

Piles of letters on the floor
Apologies and final farewells
Meaningless attempts to explain

A hammer pressed tightly
Placing an end in its sight
Groping the thighs of death

Fingers typing ferociously
Attempting to explain the pain
To those that deserve it not

Scattering pointless words
For the world to see and mock
Tear filled heart dumps the final breath

An ocean away, and a draped face
Covered by the endless miles
Stretches out her love

Tonight a friend has added the minutes
Abolishing the hooded beast
Saturatiing the darkness with hope
Hugging away the darkness

Oh the light that the precious soul
Touching the darkest corners
Emitted light with radiance

The sparkle in the heart
Ignites a glorious fire
Burning bright for all to see

Oh but only if
The arms could
Stretch a few more miles

Thank you my friend
For saving me from the end
It is my love I send
Even when you feel as if there is no hope, god will send someone to touch you soul and give an ounce of hope. Thank you so much my friend.

I feel this
Senseless loss
Leave my empty hands-
And wonder how
The place between
Can feel like an
Unreplenished chasm

When this was never
Mine to mourn.

Steel this
Bitter nothing
Beneath the sinew and bone
Before thought can burn
An aching corrosion
Left in
The nothing.

To
He
Outside
Me:
A
Stranger

You'll stay.

moving past the foliage
I smack back
the tangled brush
a strange truth revealed
my emotions in a rush
Here I am
in this hell-hatched bind
braced against the winds
grasping at shards
           of the Divine
for they're inside me,
all those pieces
jagged glass and soft meringue
my innards humming
shades of the blues
in offbeat notes of pain
and I know that deep within
between my earthly
beats of heart
resides a light that's
only mine
that slices through
this drape of dark

It's a heavy nightcloak breaking
as I reach out from
                     the abyss
praying for the comfort
of my soul's
bright morning
                kiss
