Yellow
Ananyaa Kapoor Jul 2015
he's the colour of sunshine
the glitter he hates,
sparkling in his crinkling eyes

his laugh
is the colour of daisies in november,
teasing the troubled naiad into a state
of pure affection

his kiss
I imagine
is the colour of bliss,
like honey dripping from the lips of queens by the nile

his love,
however
is the colour of water
clear
non-existant.
Ananyaa Kapoor Jul 2015
the air is heavy
with an unspoken desire
for his tanned skin
upon hers
a shady block
of warm breeze,
a dusty corner
and her back against it
- heaven.

gentle kisses that tasted like summer
now dot her memory
along with flashes of squinting
liquid honey coloured eyes
framed within lashes
that remind her of the sort of thing she'd like want to feel fluttering against her shoulder
first thing
on a sunny sunday morning;
a nose that she'd like to have nuzzled against the crook of her neck

all swatches of filtered sunlight
and unfamiliar hands
soft lips and hurried goodbyes
- imprints of a translucent yellow

Girl Crush
Ananyaa Kapoor Jun 2015
It had never once occurred to me
that her protruding skeletal frame
could ever cease my petty insecurities
or abate my incessant torpidity
with nothing but a momentary embrace
but when her spindly arms
besieged my torso
so suddenly
out of the blue?
it did occur to me
oh god, did it occur to me.

You
Ananyaa Kapoor Jun 2015
You
I want you to come see me
because you want to
because the thought of being away from me makes you feel like your heart is a sailor that tied your stomach into knots as if his beloved ship would sail away
if the rope wasn't tight enough
or if a loop came undone

I want you to hold me
because when I'm not in your arms you feel like the world is tilting and slipping away like grains of sand
from between your nimble fingers

I want you to crave me
because my skin sets your skin on fire and my lips ignite a spark in you that makes it hard to breathe and that a hundred cold showers couldn't put out

I want you
to want me

but all these nights I lie awake
yearning for a whiff of you
I know
somewhere
you are satisfied
with the taste
of her
i tried free versing for the first time

Rush
Ananyaa Kapoor Jun 2015
It comes in waves
mid-step
mid-sentence
a rush
it tugs at my gut
and carries me
out to sea
uproots the anchor
of my sanity
and engulfs me
in the memories
that drench every part of me
and just like the tide that washes up, occasionally
wetting the seering sands
just as quickly as it comes,

you are gone

Forevermore
Ananyaa Kapoor Mar 2014
her skin,
flecked with imperfections
of jagged silver
and curves
embedded with diamonds
that reflected
every dimension
of her glowing candor
it drew him
enthralled him
his opulent body
would burn
at the thought
of having hers
pressed
against it
but under his touch
her luminous body
would crumble
her suffusive aura
would turn
to wisp
her pearly ashes
would swirl
in the realm
of the numen
forevermore
so he withdrew his touch
he moved further away
his ebbing heat
never touched
the satin lace
that tied
a dainty bow
over her ****** heart

every day
he would yearn
each night
he would quieten

*there,

now you've heard
the story
of how the sun
loved the moon so much
that he died every night
to let her breathe.
This was inspired by all of those tumblr posts romanticising celestial bodies

Love
Ananyaa Kapoor Feb 2014
When you're done looking
and tired of waiting
when you're forgotten
and stuck in dystopia
it will find you,
an epiphany
a fervor
a distant
sense
of
reality;
love.
It's not as cheesy as it sounds, is it?

The White Fabric
Ananyaa Kapoor Feb 2014
Not a splatter
nor a smear
just a single tone
of the solitary colour
that shall never be outshone
It is but a veil
masking the genuine hues
of crimson and onyx
that the rain clouds brew
It's chaos and tumult
pandemonium, disarray
masked behind the veil
that lights up my day.

Anesthetized
Ananyaa Kapoor Jan 2014
I feel a pang
of pain in my chest
I feel the taste
of distinct bitterness
I feel the jealousy
when I spot the spark
of love in your eyes
as you're standing feet apart
I feel your taunting smirk
scorch my back
as you watch me burn
in my own trap
And I feel my nails
sink into my skin
And I feel your words
making their way in
But darling,
I feel
nothing
when I see you.

The Silver Pen
Ananyaa Kapoor Jan 2014
She molds herself
a silver pen
Embedded with rubies
crystals and gems.
She pours her life
out on fragile pages,
unleashes her thoughts
from their constrictive cages
But one dark day,
the pages were found
Lampooned and humiliated,
she hit the ground
Along with her
fell her silver pen
the crystals now stained
with the darkest red.

Clouds
Ananyaa Kapoor Dec 2013
Clouds of smoke, drifting endlessly
Black as coal, all is left behind
The wind, it blows, forever in icy sheets
Swept for gold, none left to find

They shed their tears on their lover
The lovers look up with joy
Ignorance replaces salt in the water
And their blinded eyes rejoice

All they need is a light that shines
On hearts, dark with vapors of hate
To illuminate their exquisite lines
But no sun is bright for the broken fates

The malicious breeze won't stop for a second
even as hearts get tied
People and plots don't mourn for their losses;
as it goes, those hearts get tired

They shed their skins, for something new
Some place better than where they float
All they needed was the light
From the rays of the sun
All they got was the thunder,
Waiting on every turn

So, they shed their tears on their lovers
The lovers look up with joy
Ignorance replaces salt in the rain drops
And their blinded hearts rejoice.
more of a song, maybe.

Wilt
Ananyaa Kapoor Dec 2013
Your eyes glaze over, losing their spark
And your sight's flown miles away
In a place that's worse than the world out here
Where hearts are blackened by hate.

Your eyes brim over, tears leave scars
And your hues, they turn to grey
For wrists turn red and lips turn blue
*You're wilting by night, to blossom by day
