Let us be cynics together.

We can talk about how love
ruined the best of us,
how it could never last.
We can sit around the park
and laugh at the couples
holding hands.

Let us be cynics together.

And maybe,
just maybe,
we can fall in love.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
Money in the pocket of the biggest shareholder

Day by day, we grow older
Love is lost, hearts grow colder

So while you still can, you should hold her
Say what you feel, before you wish you'd told her

Don't stash your dreams away, in that folder
As you care less what they think, you'll get bolder

Listen to those, who need a shoulder
Let her live, don't try to mold her

Don't sell your soul, for something golder

Oh, how beautiful is your heart.
Smeared with Piper nigrum
now maligned your Delphi art.

Unfolded,
your full-of-**** ignorance.

Saved,
would-be innocent souls

like me.

It's the little things that hurt,
it's the little things that sting.
It's the little things that
tear me apart somewhere
deep within.

It's the memories of my father,
it's the longing for a mother.
It's the loss of those closest to
me - I'll never forget
my grandmother.
It's time that always seems
to stand still until
you realise life passed you by.
It's hard to be brave
when you're buried.
It's hard to be strong
when you cry.

Who are you?
Who am I?
What is my identity -
was I sold a lie?
Will I live
when I die?
My greatest wish
is you and I.

There is a child
Her name is Love
She has long blonde hair and rosy cheeks
But behind that fair facade,
She has a vicious streak

She likes to play with Confusion,
Jumping ropes in the park.

Confusion has curly brown hair
And means well
She loves the other children,
although she often causes them harm

Confusion is akin to Serenity,
But Confusion came first

Serenity has big blue eyes
And a shiny bald head.

She follows around Anger,
Whose clothes are always ripped,
And his hood is always up.

But he has a crush on Sadness,
Whose short black hair is tucked under a cap,
Holding all her problems inside.

And contrary to popular belief,
Happiness is the most lonesome,
Her beauty hidden beneath her favorite hoodie,
Watching as the others play.

I do not identify myself as a black american
I do not identify myself as an activist
I do not identify myself
As anything other than what I am
Do not arbitrate my existence
It will only magnify your bigotry
Do not lecture me
It will not ratify your ministry
Do not objectify my identity
Do not marginalize my sincerity
I know your criticism
It will not dwindle me
I am defiantly deaf to it
It will not compute
Trust me
It will only intensify
What I occupy
Do not subject me to anomaly
Do not try and direct me
I will not comply
Do not concern yourself
with my essentiality
I am not lost
Do not concern yourself
With what defines me
Just ask
If I am willing and able.
Old
Some people call me young
But to others, I am old.
How you see me depends
On the way my impression is sold.
