Finishing Knell
she sashayed
down the runway
she put her assets
on display
and after
the rocker saw them
he wanted to be
welcomed into her bay

their relationship
hit all the highs
they had
a jet set lifestyle
they roamed
the many miles
they had money and fame
all stacked in a pile

but their dream
came crashing down
as so many
famous pairings do
the fame and fortune
did of them both *****

sticking together
and holding tight
only lasted
for a short while
for them
they saw fit
to follow
separate avenues
with other women and men

the rocker and the model
their mismatch
plays again and again
love so often
doesn't blend with fame
the attraction
soon mislays
its magnetic pull
and the dream
becomes a void pool
that loving feeling
says farewell
the starry eyed
celebrities
sound the finishing knell

Glass Ceiling
they've aspired to be
heads of corporations
and these aprirants
are in many nations

a revolution is taking
place
in the  business world's
space

women are becoming
CEO's of companies
as they've all inched up the
ladder of success by degrees

the glass ceiling has been
broken through
and the boss's are of a
female slew

let us celebrate the women
who've reached the top perch
and on their journey there
they've attained the laurel's birch
A belated poem for " International Women's Day"

Buzzing Bees
seeing a bee
buzzing around a tree
would make thee
feel rather jolly

for jolly me
a buzzing bee
engenders much
glee

when the blossoms
appear on the spring trees
one shall be elated greatly
hearing the buzzing of the bees
she's a social butterfly
flying to all engagements
her wings work at a fast pace
flitting here and there

Millennium (Paradelle Poem)
transformation happens, as a matter of course
transformation happens, as a matter of course
the face of a rock, doth alter over a millennium
the face of a rock, doth alter over a millennium
as a matter of course the face of a rock doth alter
over a millennium transformation happens

no formation stays static, the elements of nature ever at work

Hundreds try to cross the hostile border
They seek a better life in Northern lands
Acquiring this dream is of high order
No promise for the future in homelands
They run the gauntlet of patrolling guards
Which disallow entry into America
They want escape from their domestic yards
These people yearn for the soils of Arizona
The journey they'll take is perilous
Some manage a successful traversing
Though the road they've traced is dangerous
Yet they're willing to risk everything
Mexican people are seeking a route out
From land which has no prospective sprout

The Sheriff's Deputies
the sheriff's deputies
are on duty everyday
they tune into see
what people may say

if it doesn't follow
the sheriff's law act
instantly those folks
are thrown out of the tract

the sheriff's deputies
are an eagle eyed crew
they keenly observe
what others may spew

reports to the sheriff
they note in his log
then he evicts those
non law abiding dogs

the sheriff's deputies
are ever alert and on guard
their line of work
is to keep neat the sheriff's yard

so be warned the deputies
are watching with diligence
and they pass onto the sheriff
all of their intelligence

the sheriff's deputies
are always in the know
they make it their business
to tidy up the show

we need to be prudent
in what we put on air
as the sheriff won't condone
any form of illicit fair

the sheriff's deputies
are thorough at their jobs
they stand by the edicts
that the sheriff lobs

The Meteorologists
the meteorologists predictions have been off key
their weather forecasts are proving to be faulty
yesterday they said rain would come in the eve
but none came to wet the back landing eaves

the direction of the wind they got wrong last week
it blew in from the south and was rather bleak
they need to check their wind vanes regularly
for a wind from that direction is so chilly

they've got modern technology at their finger tips
so you'd think with forward forecasts they'd make no slips
but alas meteorologists seem not to care
whether the weather is inclement or fair

instead of relying on their dodgy forecasts
one ducks outside to observe clouds and wind blasts
a more accurate picture can be seen
by one watching the unfolding weather scene

they've predicted sunny skies for this afternoon
with much anticipation we'll look for its boon
we'll be well astounded if that be the case
so often the meteorologists get the weather misplaced

the person who runs it
should bring it up to date
other sites work far faster
and more efficiently
these are the sorts of sites
which so pleasure thee
the turn over of responses

it is truly a tired

would have the old place

Pretty Crystals (Villanelle)
pretty crystals shone atop the stream
they so transfixed an observing eye
as the sun did reflect down its beam

was like being caught in a dream
beautiful shimmers of light seen to ply
pretty crystals shone atop the stream

jewels of nature above the water's ream
exhibiting such a captivating dye
as the sun did reflect down its beam

how lovely this bedazzling team
glistening with a bewitching spry
pretty crystals shone atop the stream

the play across the surface of a leam
which drew a mirroring focal spy
as the sun did reflect down its beam

to partake of an engaging gleam
bought wonder unto a viewer's nye

in his pilfering net

without so much

that thief did stow them
up his ****** sleeve

he twas like an incessant
plaguing parasite
taking those fab writes
which did so invite

none of them were
his intellectual property
they'd been nicked
with much impropriety

he got his fingers
caught in the honeypot
making off with works
which were not of his own slot

such brashness he did exhibit
for all to see
pretending that the pieces
were of his tree

he shall be recalled
for the loot that he took
of this deed he should be
bought to book

would ever steal
what isn't rightfully theirs

Fishing Proclamation
the queen was sitting on the throne
but she wasn't sitting alone
the duke was parked up along side of her
and he was talking on the telephone

he was making arrangements
to go trout fishing in a Balmoral stream
and he asked the queen if she'd be keen
on a spot of fishing in the stream

they got out of their respective seats
and the queen ordered a carriage to her Balmoral retreat
the game park warden there
prepared a fishing rod for the two
and they hastened to the stream
without further adieu

the duke cast his rod and so did the queen
they had no luck in catching one single trout
apparently there were fish thieves about

back at Balmoral Castle
the queen wrote a proclamation
stating that all fish thieves
would be banned in her nation

the queen wasn't well pleased
with the fish thieves stealing
her's and the duke's catch
and her proclamation
was quickly dispatched

Sodden Cheeks
sodden cheeks
drenched in sorrow's repine
the drops fell
with a saddening gush
little by little
the sides of the
face felt less wet
as the air of solace
toweled the harrowed skin
for an age
drab raining clouds
prevailed
each day the tourment
of loss being there to
remind
of a suffering ache
of the stress in agony
of the constant wailing
not on the wane
out of the dark pall
of demise
emerges
the bright sun's light
reconciling
the hours of grief
NB: The above poem, was written after being given a word prompt by a friend... the word is GRIEF. It is written in (Free Verse) which I rarely use in my poetry.
the drought had taken a toll
on the farmers bank accounts
no longer could they shell out
the cash for bills that did surmount

a failure of crops had them in tears
they'd worked like Trojans for the whole year
disappointment was in their hearts
no wheat or barley to fill their market carts

so sad to see this situation so very forlorn
dead were the golden ears of corn
no more plantings could the farmers afford
the banks and drought had put them to the sword
glimmering sunlight played
on the ocean as fish shoals
were herded into tight bunches
by ravenous sharks

Bellowing Bulls
bellowing bulls
did bellow all day
they bellowed for cows
in paddocks far away

their bellowing became louder
as the day did subside
bellowing bellowing
to be by the cow's sides

they ne'er ceased their bellowing
during the long night
it went on till the dawning
of the bright sunlight

their need for the cow's companionship
didn't abate
in their distant paddock
the bellowing bulls did wait

still the bellowing bulls
loudly refrain
they're pining for the cows
in such excruciating pain

they'll be bellowing
for some considerable while
for the farmer has cramped
their conjugal smile

Red Roses In May (Sonnet)
me thinks a sonnet is very hard to write
putting it on paper doth require skill
one must show the ease of a carefree kite
whence applying each and every ink spill
there's no room for bad mistakes being made
the formatting should carry the right tone
as stated by Will who knew of poetic trade
penning many hundreds in iambic cone
one did dare Shakespeare's enduring trail
on attempting his fourteen line layout
oh yes the challenging road did prevail
depicting a time honoured rhyming rout
with couplet concise one shall fly away
leaving a poem of red roses in May

The Astrologer
I read what Yasmin
had to say
in her astrology column
to-day
she said I'd be compelled
to pen a story
she also mentioned
that I'd get a surprise
one of those
would be a sight for
sore eyes
she went on to say
that I'd be working behind
the scenes
she got that one right
as I do a lot of stuff
at the back of a screen
her accuracy
in making astrological predictions
is absolutely unreal
Yasmin has the foresight
of a seer
her vision and insight
is second to none
tomorrow
I'll be reading her column
with much interest
to see if she sees
a gentleman
on the horizon
for me
to date
she hasn't envisioned
that in my star chart
but I'll keep reading
her column
till she gets
that part of my story
one hundred percent correct

Tiolet Day
this point of call
has many a name
which one do you
put in the frame

in my region we
call it the ****-house
or to be more polite
the little house

some folks call it the public loo
which oddly rhymes with poo

Americans have given
it a male gender
the John is the term
that they render

in Ye Olde England
they've named it the lavatory
their chosen word
tells its story

***** and bog matter are expelled
from the bowel or the bladder
those making a stop over at the toilet
do feel much relieved and much gladder

twas drawn to my attention
this November Tuesday
that tomorrow twill be
International toilet day

as a cleaner of rest rooms
I've scrubbed plenty of porcelain
and on it I've found lots
of piddle and skid mark stains

whence next you're visiting
that place of poos and wees
give thanks to it for handling
your daily ablution sprees
The 19/11/2014 will be International Toilet Day.
Thy love shall never waver or deviate
A harmonic union we'll always keep
Our hearts and souls to ever correlate
Dearest thy pool of love for you is deep
Our garden shall be full with loveliness
Thy dreams have come true we'll be entwining
No sweeter day has come for happiness
Together our future full of shining
We'll sail on beautiful clouds endlessly
Thy is manifold with delight this day
In a paradise we'll be eternally
Our cup of love doth overflow so say
With our sacred marriage vows enshrined
We'll be affectionately combined

Helpless (Italian Sonnet)
where is the rest of the world at this stage
its help needed in a strife broken land
the destruction there is well out of hand
fighting described on newspaper page
the United Nations seemingly asleep
Syrian men women and children killed
in fear of much red blood being spilled
a country where eyes do endlessly weep
resolution to these woes can't be found
continuation of conflict is far from good
chemical weapons with callousness
employed by mindless men most unsound
where is our planet's caring brotherhood
we've failed in supporting the helpless
something odd
was happening
to all the clocks
yesterday afternoon
none of them ticked
they fell silent
time seemed to be
in suspended animation
hours went by
without a minute of notation

father time had decided
to have a little timeout
as he'd been busy
keeping time for eons of years
we all wondered
when he'd resume
his time keeping duties
the old fellow
had become somewhat tired
with keeping the 24/7 time cycle everyday

out of his slumber
he did finally arise
to start the motion of time
before the darkness of night
fell upon our eyes

Mr Monsanto
Mr Monsanto has a monopoly on the GMO market
his products fill many agriculturist's baskets
there harmful affects have been well documented
the damage they're causing can be circumvented

those men and women who work the land
can deal Mr Monsanto a crook poker hand
discontinue buying his bad chemical sprays
recommence those old pest controlling ways

he's been making big profits from the stuff that he sells
it is time for the agriculturists to hear the alarm bells
he's had the ear of the administration for too long
and it has always listened to the pitch of his song

Mr Monsanto keeps telling the world that his products are fab
but he never mentions a thing about adverse discoveries in science labs
the people are becoming informed on the land
they're waking up to the unsafeness of his brand

the public will not abide Mr Monsanto's crap
they know when a dodgy product has landed in their laps
cancer causing agents in cornmeal
this sort of thing doesn't make for edible appeal

big companies like Mr Monsanto might like to explain themselves
and enlighten us as to why his purulent stuff is on market shelves
behind his fortress walls he hides a folio of dross
uncovering it would ensure his company ran at a loss

Memory
a friend of mine popped in the other day
to have a chat
we got to talking about the town's past history
and more especially about one of the Church of England vicars
she had a litany of information
relating to his many female conquests
he'd been playing around
quite a lot during his period
as the local rector
one day he was caught inside the church
with his pants down
he was administering
to one of his female parishioners
behind the altar
the fellow who used to do the light maintenance
was most astound at seeing such close contact between
the vicar and a member of his flock
a few days after this occurred
the Bishop of the diocese informed the vicar
that he was going to be sacked
for his indecent conduct within the walls
of a place of God
the female parishioner
was given her marching orders
by her infuriated husband
my friend and I like talking about our town's past history
as there are some events
which are truly worth recalling
to memory

Nakedness (Humorous Poem)
why don't we all do the primal thing
take off our clothes and reveal everything
not a stitch of clothing did Neanderthal folk ware
they allowed their naked bodies to breath the air

nudist colonies are the last bastion of bare skin
the people at these places never fail to grin
without dresses and pants they are a happy crew
all of them putting their kit out on view

it is a norm for us to take in the sunshine whilst bare
and a law should be passed to permit this fair
we've been overly wrapped in fabric for years
no wonder we've been without any cheer

the straight laced may not be too keen on ******
but may I remind them it is such a liberty
shedding the coats and petticoats wont do any harm
and showing a little of our bodies isn't cause for alarm

our forebears of a by gone era were not glad
they ran around in the buff and never did anything bad
those who wish to be in a state of undress
take off your attire and don't feel any stress
