SHE
She's lonely, but she seems happy
She's tired, but she moves forward
She's down, but she doesn't drown
She's hopeless, but she's not careless

They say she's pretty,
but she feels ugly
They say she's smart,
but she feels dumb
They say she's talented,
but she feels incompetent
They say she's strong,
but she feels weak

She has no one, but she ain't gone
And that she,

**Is me.

I remember that night
he was drunk
and couldn't even think straight
He said he loved life
and everything about it
I wanted him to say
that he loved me
But he didn't
Instead I told him
that I loved him
because I knew
He wouldn't remember my words
And I was right
"What A Night!", he told me the next day
Smiling because he couldn't remember
He couldn't remember
that he breaks my heart everyday
In 11 years
At least one thing hasn't changed:
You're home to me

You've supported my endeavors
And I've always had you to come home to
I like having that to count on

I need your stability
May I be so bold to say
Maybe you need my variety

I like that you truly see me
I need that
Maybe you do too

I need your insight and blunt honesty
I need your silliness
Maybe you need my different ways of thinking

We unwaveringly support each other
I need your stability
Maybe you need my variety

my father was
a man of god
preached his word
and spoiled not the rod

This I thought as a child
I followed his footsteps
Became blessed
And endowed

Until his sins
Left him dead
and me torn
To be raised by kin
Too angry to mourn

all that he taught
became a lie
I was only 16
When he decided
i am
                                                                               okay
in
     fleeting
                   moments

but they always seem to escape me
My family What's app group
Is homemade soup.
It keeps me calm,
Soothes me like a balm,
Reduces tension of the day,
Appeases my appetite for what is happening in some way.
Family relationship is savoury broth,
Holds a strong bond and growth.
Photos and videos,
Not to forget audios,
Are seasonings which enhance the taste,
Just some, only the best.
Gossips, jokes and sayings need time to simmer,
To reach full flavour.
Family moans and groans,
Are birthdays, death, sickness and new borns,
Raining with condolences and wishes,
Tangy, no preservatives.
Family members are garnish,
Quite a relish,
With active members as crusty croutons,
That promote sociability  and traditions.
Passive members are fresh herbs,
Rarely a comment,only few words,
But,are there to bring out the lovely aroma.
Homemade soup is healthy. Each ingredient  has its own characteristics  just like family group where each member is unique.

The help has arrived, but they don't wear an apron or a coat.
No hats, no starch white collars.
The help came from inside of me, deep down in a place that I could not see.
The help came from a person I didn't know I was until I looked back and tapped on the glass, watching the fishes dart back and forth.
The help loves me, the help wants to see me succeed.
I was always the help. I was always the key.
If you look deep inside, and crawl around on your hands and knees... The help is inside of you, too.
Set yourself free.
Help lies deep down inside of yourself. Sometimes you can't see it.

These bruises and scars on my skin
help me remember,

"Yes,

I am still alive."
