Imagine if the nativity
Took place now instead of then
With technological advancement
It'd be on the news at ten
In fact it would make youtube
A film clip at the stable
Taken by a shepherd boy
Underneath a table
The three wisemen would go on Skype
The gifts would be en route
No need to travel all the way
With the traffic in Beirut
Phone banks would be all set up
To raise funds for the birth
The internet would be a buzz
With the greatest news on earth
No camels, inns or drummer boys
There'd be no one there at all
The Angel of The Lord would be
Black Friday shopping at the mall
In fact I do not think that it
Would be a deal that we would follow
Social media and the press
Would make it all seem hollow
I'm glad it happened when it did
As time has come to pass
With Jesus in a manger
And wisemen there en masse
I don't think it'd be Christmas
If Christ was born today
Without a cd or a movie deal
Or a sport that he would play
Christmas is...and always will
Be the story we were told
I'm glad it didn't happen now
If I may be quite so bold
Unto man a child was born
And he, the son of God....

So where’s the love that I shall find?
Is it natural or divine?
It is knocking on my door,
But if I open, what’s in store?
Three questions in four lines,
I’m always seeking,
But never find.
One day when I’m looking at the life that’s behind,
I’ll see that what I was seeking had always been mine.
And that questions don’t lead to answers,
Because only time can tell.
So try what you want, and let yourself fail.
Answers are only summoned from our paths as they unwind.
So let your life happen, and leave your worries behind.

A ‘times your chain's your freedom
Treasured freedom is your prison
You feel you want to hold on
It's the way you choose to move on
Your future could be in the past
Past catching your future rather fast
A dream turned to a nightmare
'Cause it’s **** big it does scare
Here was once your "wish I was there"
Your success was a whisper in a prayer
The uncertainty that kept them guessing
A curse turns out was a disguised blessing
I heard the path could be the obstacle
Hardship passed turns to a spectacle
Heard things that tend to make us cry
In Jan, in a year we laugh about or in July
Worst enemy was once the closest friend
Fighting wars to conceive peace is a trend
I hear every end is just another beginning
The race doesn't end but we are winning
Heart never rests, panic when it stops beating
We blend in trend, trust is for them cheating
Lust took to the stage, nobody applauded love
Those who lack losing the scant to those who have
Life's a death trap, them who care are loathed
The heartless are wrapped in care and clothed
The foolish are philosophical and wise
Probability's certain, no longer roll the dice
It's a game we ignore the rules to win
Since we're more sober after a taste of Gin
Sometimes the end justifies the means
Yet a ‘times the means justify the end

It is not wise to embrace the Boabak tree,
alone.
Wisdom is found within the depths of caves dark and silent.
Wrap your arms around knowledge,
and your fingertips will never touch one another.
Nobody is born wise.
Why?
Filled with pride and ego,
no room for wisdom.
What you learn is what you die with,
war has no eyes.
proverbial poetry inspired by African wisdom
I am a mortal
And there is no shame in that
I am not perfect
And I feel no shame in that
For my love is without stain

If you wish to be loved,
Then love a lot
If you wish to be strong,
Then never give up
If you wish to have friends,
Then be a friend
If you wish to be wise,
Then learn to be humble
If you wish to have a full life,
Then give it away
And in doing this,
You will have won it all.
I think God helped me right this because I think I learned something from it:)

New to the town, I hopped off the bus,
I came all alone, just me and a trunk,
To a bright, new world, I looked all around,
It was a quiet town, with not even a sound,

So I settled right in and began my work,
In a small crooked shop, I became a bank clerk,
At first no one came, not even a fly,
Then one day, someone finally walked by,

“Hello,” he said, as he opened the door,
“I believe you are new, I am Edward Debore,”
I am flattered, I said, to see a new face,
You’re the first someone I’ve seen in this empty place,

He was tall, rather thin, with a nose like a pin,
On his back, I believe, he had some type of fin,
“Oooooh,” he moaned, “I am quite parched,”
Oh my, I replied, I’ve only this berry ****,

But, to my surprise, he swallowed it whole,
And with it, gulped down, my grandmother’s bowl,
Oh dear, I cried, as he burped loud and clear,
It seems you are more than “parched,” I fear,

Who are you, I asked him, what do you do,
I am a bank clerk,…oh, there’s a fly, Shoooo!
Look, there he goes, open the door,
…GULP, …Mr. Edward Debore!!

At that moment I stood there with fear in my eyes,
Mr. Edward Debore had just eaten a fly,
Another flew by and he gulped him right down,
By then my smile had turned into a frown,

I could not stand it another second,
So I snatched my umbrella and I sliced it through his stomach,
The flies were set free and so was the bowl,
For Edward Debore had gulped them down whole,

                  The End
And also the end of Edward Debore!
This was a fun one!!
