Now there’s a sandbox in the house, as though lying on the beach.
Boys, I just had a thought, maybe if we just listen and not at all teach.
Now a teepee etched on the mind, from within my psychedelic den,
by reliving ones childhood, it might make us wise men, again.
Piano tuning, garnished with sea salt, sinking even deeper,
down with non-believers, rejected by the crazy gatekeeper.
Add a pinch of snorting pepper, minds are suddenly lighter, than dark.
While sitting on the same pile of sand, as a pack of squatting dogs bark,
yelping pups protesting in Downtown Main Street.
Upon hearing some musical witchcraft, with a constant zombie beat,
Demonstrating ‘bout a propaganda communist war.
While rushin’ to eat a smorgasbord full of paranoia, that’s for sure.
A preacher man telling us all, god just jumped off, with a man on the moon.
Meanwhile, climbing four walls of my bedroom, can’t find a way out, anytime soon,
as a voice in my head, is telling me, “To be even more bizarre”.
For too many lonely years in bed, I finally woke up, by plucking at my guitar,
then back upon the stage, in beautiful California, the greatest surfing town.
Still getting nasty flashbacks though, oh how LA can weigh you down.

The blues are in us all, no matter where your from
Not just in Uncle Sam or from a good ole Uncle Tom
If bitten, there’s all sorts of tricks and charms
If no color doctor about, tune into blues, to heal your qualms
But don’t sing it, if you aren’t prepared to bring it
Bottles are going to sink and eventually hit
Walls will be crawled up, then bounced off, in a rage of fit
But it’ll take a lifetime dose of blues music, to rid every **** hurting bit.

My love for you just can't
be put into words.
Words are just letters
scrambling to fall into place
to tell a story
but your laugh is already
an adventure through
galaxies undiscovered.
Your eyes are oceans
filled with treasures
from years of shipwrecks
and heartache.
Your heart, pounding
120 beats per minute:
we slowly edge closer,
our hands tingling as we touch
and the energy courses through us,
sing melodies in a language
only we know.
Words are just letters
trying to become
something beautiful
but you are already
more beautiful
than any letter could have hoped
to be.

Looking at you from across the room
Ink mashed up my walls
Nightmares of a time awaits
Only a day away

Crinkling glass of my windowsill
The icy roads of frost
Took some time to figure out
That I am lost

Broken down starships
Were never meant fly
Tilted heads up
Looking at the skyline

Our love was never there
It was really just a dream
I want to wake up
But it’s hard to flee
A little song I’m working on

My Grandmother's perfume
was always as sweet as the fruit
she loved to share with me
its rinds thrown from the deck.
We watched as the deer came out
to feast on the skins.

Her perfume came
in beautiful crystal
and her collection spread
all over the bathroom.
She hummed as she got ready
her song beautiful like the hummingbirds
we would fill a feeder full of nectar for.
And as we ate at the small wooden table,
she would whisper,
"Look, my love! Our friends have arrived."
and the hummingbirds would sip from the feeder.
I always felt that they were her kin,
those hummingbirds.
But it would not be a stretch
for my Nana to be blood
with all the beautiful things.

She showed me how
to pluck a honeysuckle flower
and extract the nectar carefully
so I would taste a drop.
In the springtime,
butterflies would flock to that bush,
and we watched from a distance.

She taught me
where the daddy-longlegs liked to nest
and reminded me that they
were harmless.
I picked the wildflowers for her
and she would place the little arrangments
in water on the table.

My Nana would make me coffee
so sweet I could barely drink it
but I did
because the sweetness was just as sweet
as her.

I loved spending time with her,
even if it was just a phone call.
The number 2 pad on my mom's
ugly orange phone
was my Nana's speed dial.
I called her every day.
Every day.
She would light up when
she heard my voice
and I would chatter on about
anything and everything I could think of.

I still remember
the songs she used to sing to me
when it was time for bed
and I was wide awake.
"I love you,
a bushel and a peck.
A hug around the neck,
and a barrel and a heap
and I'm talking in my sleep
about you."

My Nana
doesn't remember the words now
but as long as I have
a voice to sing with,
I will sing for her.
As long as I have hands,
I will write for her.
And as long as I have a heart,
I will love her.
Even after the day,
she doesn't remember me.
Even after the day
she doesn't see my face
and know who I am.
Even after the day
she doesn't know she ever loved me.

listen to the trees
what do they say
maybe they are whispering
the universes wishes to me

listening to the birds
what do they sing
do they sing of glory
or of sad heartfelt things

listen to the wind
who controls it all
who makes the trees whisper
and determines all the birds
listen to the wind
who has your heart captured in the moment

take a deep breath
listen to the silent world singing its loud song
that song that only you could hear in your heart
what does it say
will you listen
will you listen to it as it calls your name

the world with its drowning words
rumors spreading
and toxic thoughts corrupting
the false songs gave to you by those on top
trying to cover the beauty of the real songs

the trees whispering
the birds singing
the wind who controls it all
the universe who surly does call
the nature so silent
that its song can only reach your quiet heart

so wont you listen to the song
the song that nature has given to you
the song that ever so loudly calls your name
the true song that can only reach your heart
wont you listen to it?
idk i just wanted to see if i could come up with a poem on the spot and this is what came of it

The song plays on
Though it scratches itself up
Playing on repeat over and over again
The same old beat
The same old lyrics
Singing away
The words had stopped making sense
Long ago
Still it keeps playing the same song
It keeps doing the same things
Nothing has changed
How can I expect a broken record
To fix my life?
