Planets
                     Revolve        Around
Stars
                               Like Us
You are
1 in 7.5 billion
people on earth

Our earth is
1 in 8
planets in our solar system

Our solar system is
1 in 500 solar systems
in our galaxy

Our galaxy is
1 in 200 billion
galaxies

Our universe
1 in many possible
universes

We are so small

Take a train to Mars
Want to escape all earth’s traffic
Bumpy rides are just the best
When there’s only yourself complaining.

Taking a detour to Saturn
So the gases can lull me to sleep
All night no one sees me dreaming
Turning to the motion of these rings.

Boat ride to Venus
Want to feel my skin melt off
From the carcass, a new me emerges
And tans from the beams of light.

Heading over to Mercury
To actually see the sun
Without all the rocks in the way
Now I feel more alive.

Flew myself to Pluto
To share the excitement of my life
No one answered my knocking
Maybe they also fled this sight.

Bike ride to Uranus
Wasn’t that far away
But everyone is too distant
Big heads, acting kinda insane.

I booked it over to Jupiter
But everything just felt too big
Spent most of my time looking
At the neighbors spinning by.

Vacation in Neptune
Wanted to get ready to head back
Chill-off from self-inflicted pain
Applying ice to my travel wounds.

Walked myself back to Earth
Head held high but still a hitchhiker
But no one picks me up
Wonder if they know what I been through.

Months have gone by and still
you echo in my black hole,
your lips still brushing mine
in the wind that caresses my face,
your voice whispering through
the riffs and chords of songs,
your body visible in the contours of trees,
your face in the curves of the clouds,
and looking up desperately at
the night sky,
I envision you glancing at the same stars,
your soul having been imprinted permanently
on the Earth's ceiling,
so even when I close my eyes
you linger in the corners of my mind,
a universe of
constellations and planets,
galactic clusters of
immortal memories and undying
desires.
Months have gone by as I
continue to orbit around
the memory of you,
tilting onto your axis,
spinning round and round as
I try desperately to get back
to you, but you're
galaxies away.

there is one truth of which i'm incandescently certain and that's that nobody can take away a truth as it darkens, a galaxy in a glass; and the truth is that i'd be the only ***** donor in a charity just for you because signals and signs have showed me your soul and you're grander than celestial poles

if i didn't know any better i'd suggest you're the sun and i'm the solar system and i orbit around you and i'm not too sure about humans having wings but imagine:

a snowy cabin some place away from civilisation, you and i and wholehearted communication, you and i and books and fictional integration, you and i and mind blowing realisations, you and i and wings outstretched souring across nations

you are the sun and i am the solar system and although i orbit you i'm never allowed to brush the surface, i'm guessing it's for a purpose so i admire from afar, a gaze stretched over constellations and the sound of your voice bouncing off stars into my hemisphere of tangled webs and ripened tears, the echoing trailing behind merely a souvenir

there is one truth of which i'm incandescently certain and that's this:

the only reason my brain hasn't stopped my heart from beating is because the thoughts of you are giving it meaning and it's hard to breathe with these overwhelming feelings but i'm coping because the broken glass holding my galaxy is healing

Enter—the transitive nightfall
of diamonds.
?There are crop circles dancing
in a wave on Neptune,
with corn rows gleaming from
the man on Mars.
Tail feathers toss toward a
flute near Venus.
Fly me like a rainbow
to the nearest star.
Sirius B
has nothing for me.
Anunnaki women want
to dig my scene.
Don’t take me seriously;
I’m bluffing like a rookie
with a pair of queens.
Moon Unit lands with a
Zappa on Pluto.
Yoda on Saturn
plays steel guitar.
Moses rides in on a
doggone quasar.
Captain Trips sleeps
by a medicine jar.
Sirius B has
something for me.
Hot Nibiru babes try
to make my dream.
Don’t greet me furiously.
I’ll drop you like a comet
heading to the east.
Exit—the transitive nightfall
of diamonds.
From, The Transitive Nightfall Of Diamonds, due out 8/14 from iUniverse books
