It rains
Torrents of thunder
Hitting glass

It rains
Fingers of pleasure
Hitting skin

It rains
Kisses of moonshine
Hitting earth

It rains
Monsters of terror
Hitting fear

It rains
Waves of peace
Hitting hearts

It rains
Whispers of love
Hitting scars

It rains
Colors of wonder
Hitting metal

It rains
Drizzles of clouds
Hitting hairs

It rains
Daggers of death
Hitting hope

It rains
Sprinkles of silence
Hitting drums

He prowls,
loose and deadly,
fears,
light and hungry.

But they don't tell him,
NO,
they don't tell
if they're laughing
or crying.

(Aren't they moving their mouths?)

He pleads,
flailing,
wanting to fail,
but he warns them, still,

(Why aren't you afraid?)

they don't stop him.

He should run,
save them.

(Please listen!)

He can't,
and black shields him.

(Stop hurting me.)

Void and
blinding
and gone,

he stands,
towers.

(Don't look at me.)

There are strands
on his fingers,
pulling the bones,
digging,
gripping,

touching,

(Tasting?)

next to nothing
around him,
and black pierces,
picks him.

(Where did they go?)

He hears them part,
then gnashes them,
gnaws them,
his snarls beg from them,

(Where did you go?)

and it panics,
urges,
burrows
in skin

(Get out of my ears.)

They sicken his eyes,
cover them,
throw them,

(Get out of my ears.)

sense leaves him with nothing.
As nothing,
he stands,

(Move.)

he prowls,

(Move.)

loose,

(Move me.)

deadly,

(Make me.)

and fears,

(Warn me!)

light,

(Me.)

and hungry.

It’s a soft murmur in the room,
A faint tune we know that reaches our ears.
Eyes meet, our breathing pauses, a question hangs in the air as the tune continues on.

“Dance with me?” I asked with a quivering intake,
“Dance with me.” I said with a breath of more confidence.
You just smiled, it was large and with your teeth, and you took it in stride and took two steps to meet me.

We knew the song a million times over, we sung it, breathed it, and felt the words from our head to our toes, and as it played, you grasped my hand and pulled me close.

You were warm, but you’re always warm.
You were laughing quietly to yourself, or maybe to me.
But you just looked at me with those eyes, and it felt like too much.
My chest tightened and my mouth seemed to dry all at once, and I had to look away.
You just laughed again, you knew what I was doing, being shy, hiding, avoiding that look.

“You smiled, you smiled oh and then the spell was cast,” you sung, a whisper, a terrible attempted harmony, a confession.
Your cheek pressed to mine in a gentle sway, rocking, swing.
And there we were, like trees in the wind, swaying, rocking, swinging.
One of my first few poems I started to write this school year, so please any criticism would help as I haven't written poetry in a little over 8 months. Thank you for reading my poem!

It's all too much to handle;
the tangible and intangible
taunt and mock me
and the vibrations of the room shine through
this lowly, softened flesh of mine
as if to punish my existence.
trying to clear out my draft folder some
The sky spills out
In rose gold as the
Insects begin their song
And the lightning bugs
Start their laser show.

Emerald tree frogs hum
Along with the locusts,
And tranquility seeps
Like chlorophyll
Into my bones.

Darkness covers the landscape,
Slow and steady.
Rose replaced by lavender,
And again by indigo. A loon
Cries a lonely tune to the sky.

The stars wink and
I inhale deeply.
Summer nights smell like
Moss and creek water,
A reminder of heaven at home.

i breathe
bubbles rise
Underwater is
Silent can't hear
little kids scream and splash
Peaceful
my hair flows around my head
in rolling auburn ways
no goggles,
chlorine stings my open eyes
I could stay Forever
in this vivid blue expanse
peaceful, blurry, silent
my lungs burn
and i'm reminded
of my human need for oxygen
feet push with a crack
off pristine off-white concrete
shimmering with Sunlight patterns
I gasp
breath fills my lungs
peace, still lingering
is ruptured by a Kid
with a Water Gun

Your cologne is on my shelf
So at least I don’t have to miss your smell

When the water boils
The pasta spine breaks
And the sizzling bake refuses to stop
I lose myself in the aroma around
Cooking like this
I am
Soundly simmering within the not
And at the same time
Lost
In the time which stops
Cooking a sensory swim
