I don’t understand these days,
the poetry I speak,

Or value my inner author
enough to strive for literary peaks,

And yet, here I am
writing about my writing still-

Words won and lost
with the drop of my quill,

A ballpoint pen
to be more exact,

But who in my journal
is in need of such facts?

Her
I
smile when
she says she
loves me simply
because that is what
all mothers do. She nods,
indulgent, when I explain
that blood running in our veins like
a river and its tributary
can’t fathom the depth of her ocean heart
Her kindness, her patience, her forgiveness,
her pride and joy, her laughter, her tears,
her kisses, her embrace, her smell,
her strength, her sheer existence,
everything else unique
to her is the tree
under which I
take shelter;
I am
safe.

tightrope with balance
tethered to a fine thread.
break, swing, loom,
yet falling feels safer,
an appeal of sorts
put to test the water.
gravity drops me,
hangs hopes on a ledge.
beat, space, beat.
flow slowing, heart stopping,
digits slipping, valve skipping.
save this dear tightrope,
don’t let me fall
slash tell to let go,
winds will catch weight
waves break on walls.
tell me to let go - but only if you’ll catch

We can't shake hands
So please and
Don't touch your face
I want to hold my
Sweetheart
But I can't
Take a chance,

The cornavirus is here
It's a scary time
I no my dear
It's roaming our land
But we need to take a stand
It does us so much harm
So please everyone stay calm

The dark days are here
So please stay safe my dear
Hygiene is our best friend
So please wash your hands

We are under attack
The enemy can't be seen
But we all need to
Pull together
And Keep our hands
Clean..
The Virus

Stuck in isolation,
Nothing much that we can do.
Is there a cure in place?
I hope things won't go obscene.

Part I:

Here's a reminder for every one to stay safe, always practice washing your hands, and to observe proper social distancing.

You are my safe space
the feeling of lazing in the sun
sand between my toes
listening to waves rolling in
holding melting ice-cream
as we rush to eat every scoop

A Sunday stroll
in hazy morning light
our feet keeping time
as we try to unpick our lives
in the darkened corners of the Pitt Rivers
You are the only place I want to be

The only person I need
Safe

The disco floor is empty,
   No more john Travolta
                            Olivia Newton John

serenades,

Cos there at home,
                      quarantined.

           They use there roller skates
around the settee, getting there exercise
               a fifteen minute burn.

As any more I'd need a martini.

Bruise's show that its isn't as easy as
                                          it used to be.

On Amazon for a new flat screen....
                      because the other one has
a roller skate imbedded in it.

What!! that was forty two years ago...

Not as flexible as we were before.
My kids got the swear jar full after that day...

                                                    And breath..

Summer nights we weren't at the beach,
          social distancing and the police.
So we turned the backyard in to our holiday.
tell me more,
             it turned cold,
So we went in quick as a sneeze would echo
around the neighbourhood and you know
how'd they talk. Oh they got covid 19

Summer dreams,
I haven't got the body for it now..
We've been quarantined for twelve weeks..
Tell me anyone that has a beach body?
       More like a beached whale...

But the quarantine is saving us,
       No social gathering, no school...
lie ins while the kids sleep into...

And I'll dream of that moment I can
see mum again, skype is all good,
but cause the level of concern I'll wait till
were allowed to visit the loved ones again.

Her Arms are the Castle
which keeps me from every hassle;
I'd stay there all day long -
no one to do me wrong.

Living like a cocoon
Sleeping all day,
Flying like a butterfly
And stinging like a bee,
Staying safe as well as
We can be,
Sleeping my life away
Fading to grey
Like a little Cocoon day,
Laughting my life away,
Wanting to break Free,
I'm going slightly mad today,
But dreaming my
Life away, Dreaming
Sleeping all day,
Keeping warm as
A little Cocoon can be...
Keeping Warm
