I dreamt that I found you by the apple trees in my backyard.
That **** crow, pecking at your flesh.
I woke up and I cried.
I think it was then that I realised my heart no longer belongs to me.

I miss you.
I say it now and I'll say it tomorrow.
I'll repeat it every single day of my life,
And even when you're here or I'm there,
I won't stop missing you.

I walked down the street last Wednesday
And tried to imagine how your hand would feel clasped in mine.
I couldn't.

I'm afraid to sleep because I'm afraid to dream of you.
There is no difference between a dream or a nightmare;
They both make me long for you just the same.

Oh, what have you done to me?

May you never find a garden ugly,
a day when music has no life,
may you always slave at your soul,
your perfect reflection;
a kiss in the festival night.

May you never meet a door unopened
in the corridors of love,
may you always pick at your plate,
your humble inflictions;
the death of the stars above.

May you never find an empty space,
a day when beauty has no sight,
may you always search the skies,
your ****** wisdom;
a kiss in the festival night.

Words aren't bandaids
for wounds of the heart
and promises aren't plane rides
against the distance that keeps us apart
Your absence is the loudest sound
I keep its' echoes for when you're not around

You can only send
so many postcards
before words like "love"
become a language so dead
your own tongue has forgotten how to speak it
You can only mend
a heart so many times
before "irreparably damaged"
becomes a definition on its' label
before you start to pretend
that the space between them and you
isn't tearing the two
apart

how can it be
with so many around
I still want you here with me

You cannot build a body
solely from pretty words
You can't build a human form with words.

I can hear your voice
And still feel your warmth but there's
miles between us

I lay awake and wonder how you can miss holding someone you've never touched, taste lips you've never kissed, loved someone you've never met. I wonder how you can be so close to me yet so far across the earth. I wonder if when I'm awake at 4:27 am thinking of you, you're at lunch thinking of me. I wonder how I could go my whole life not knowing you existed, only to find that you do more than live. You opened a chamber locked in my heart, weakening my soul for you to fill me will love and knowledge of the fire within your eyes and fears behind your smile. Your beautiful body and curve of your nose exposed yourself to be loved; for me to love you harder than anyone before our time.

My memories of you have no feelings but of the heart, and the rest of me aches for you.

The world is a mysterious place.
There's people all over going at their own steady pace.
Like I am here, and you are there.
We have our own paths to follow,
but maybe some where down the road,
we'll collide and sparks will fly.
Our finger tips will touch
and the world around us will freeze.
Within an instant,
our souls will intertwine and become one.
We'll shine brighter than the sun.
"I'll be seeing you."

You hate when I stare--
Those long, unwavering looks that let me feel like I’m touching your soul,
they’re my favorites.
But you don’t get it…
Don’t get that I’m marveling at you
Your words, your mind, your gestures,
The way your lips melt into your cheeks
and your eyelashes curl so far they touch your skin,
or how your entire face softens when you smile.
I’m memorizing you:
Line by nose,
curve by smile.

I stare because I want to hold your waist,
to touch your arm,
to feel your hand around my shoulder.
I stare because I’m dying.

What is it now?
Is my love too strong?
Do I expect too much?
Have you forgotten about me again?
It feels that way…

As I crave the warmth of your remembrance
someone else has caught your smile
and I have slipped your mind.
It’s understandable, really—
Or can I be so understanding?

You are it for me.

I wake from dreams about you only to curl into the cool, crisp spot where you should be lying in my bed.
I eat breakfast and wonder what you’re doing;
I listen to music to ponder how you feel.
When I’m upset yours is the first number I want to call
and my delight is yours to share.

You have the power to move and remove me
because I will always fall into you and yours.
There is so much to say…
But sometimes I just stare;
I stare because I’m dying.

I    miss   you
Is not enough

No words are
For the way I feel
Of you

I don't sleep
I can't sleep

I'm cold...freezing

Though my room
Is a blazing sun

And my window panes
Are pelted by the storm

Much like my tears do
To my cheeks

No
I am COLD
Because I am missing my second skin

The way you wrap yourself
Around me and within me
Completely absorbing me

Breathing you in
Until I am High
On you

Trying desperately
To remember
Your scent

As I live
Miles....Miles......Miles....
Away

Remembering Your
Warmth

Until Our Love
No longer has to be kept
At Bay

Long distance relationships are hard
Alanna High Dec 2014
You talked to me about devotion
When you were four hours and twenty minutes away
By car.
You ripped all your favorite expressions of love
From the books who were your friends
In a town where you had none
To show me how you spell devotion
With so many letters and gestures of love.
You talked to me about unending love
When you were a six hour bus ride and two one hour each car trips
Away from where I lived.
We held each other so tightly that I swear for a second
We were two people in one body
I would wait on the couch in a strangers home
Counting down the seconds till you held me again.
You talked to me about the life you wanted to build with me
And how you hated the distance
When we lived fifty miles away from each other.
You would whisper how much you missed me over the phone
And how the distance made you crazy.
But now that we share the same bed
You talk about waiting
You talk about a different future
I can see us drifting
Never before have we had so much distance between us
Than now when we are next to each other.
