I don’t know
How much
A of delecate snow flake you
Are
But I hope you
I hope putting your
Love letters
In my screen shots
And Dropbox
Doesn’t freak you out.

Let me be:
The sweet smile on your face,
The rainbow colors in your eyes,
And the tsunami of your desires.

Let me be:
The anthem of happiness on your lips,
The eternal imprints of your world,
And the flame to your candle of peace and joy.

Let me be:
The inspiring idea in your mind,
The carved letters of your soul,
And the river of love in your veins.

There were days
I remembered
To put my heart on my sleeve.

The other days
I hid it
So deep inside my body
I couldn’t find it for myself.

The terror of anyone finding
Me judging me
Seemed to linger in the air
I inhaled.

Received a letter via
Our snow-covered mail box
Just a hundred steps from my front door.

Rather than the quick work of electrons,
My mother's friend
Had carefully penned
Her thoughts.

Two tight pages
In black ink:
Questions about life,
The kids and grand kids,
Whether we were getting rest,
And how was the snow?

Paper and ink
Envelope tucked,
Cancelled stamp,
Delivered after a thousand mile ride,
Lies on my desk,
Proof of my mother's love.

Mainly, she was concerned
That we were finding time to live,

And were we still thinking about her?
Write your Mother.

If I were to send you all the letters I wrote,

the ones where my heart bled out the words

and where my tears painted the borders.

—where I laid out all my pain to rest,

you would know the depths my heart has tunneled,

just so I could make more space for you.

you would know the dreams I tucked away

for the day we reached our promise of forever.

you will find, there, the thousand different ways

I wish I could have said I loved you.
and a thousand
 more ways I wished
I could have made you stay.

call them prayers, the way I begged the heavens

if there was a way to save a sinking ship.

or heal all the wounds yet to be inflicted;
or take away the memories yet to be made;

If I had sent them, would you have understood?

that there was no way for me to love you

any less than I did. That is the way that I am.
And there was no way for me to love you

and not lose myself. I’d have given you my soul.

and your glass would never have been empty

because I would have given you my all.

The heart is greater than the eyes,
For the heart, amidst all the pain,
Sees through the delicate lenses of beauty!

The heart is superior over the ears,
For the heart, amid all the loud noise,
Listens to the softest whispers of humanity!

The heart is bigger than the nose,
For the heart, among all of the scents,
Smells the fragrance of new life!

The heart is larger than the hands,
For the heart, amongst all that it can do,
Touches in a way that is softer than the dawn’s dew!

The heart is superior to the tongue,
For the heart, with all of its might,
Speaks only the sweet letters of kindness!

The heart is more immense than all of the human senses,
For the heart carries so much love,
It can lighten up the face of the whole universe!

I'll remember the time,
When your words and smile,
Made me new.

It makes my chest sink,
In agony of what could have been.
A love I wanted to give,
That fell, pointlessly.

I still fell for her,
Even when she told me not to.

I'll remember the time,
When the words that escaped my lips,
felt like the perfect me.
Now only letters remind me of her voice,
Poetry for me.

When every word I used was for her,
And they ran out.
A drift of space,
A burning drought.

I'll remember the time,
When I told myself to stop writing about you.
If you feel something for someone, tell them.
