Why do you fiercely stare ?
Why  do you mock me so?
why is the mirror there?
Picking out every minor detail.
My effort isn't amounting to much
but leave me be please.
These critics are harming my progress,
Because I'm only as good as I let myself be.
So why is the enemy Me!?

When did feminism become a taboo?
When did equality become uncool
Men not superior to females
Us not superior to them too.
When did I become the taboo?
When did this become uncool.

So I wish we are all square and blue
true, it'd make dating difficult
but what'd you do,
you'd talk to people
true
*** would be awkward
too angles
too many rights
won't create create the sweetest wrong
but at least we'd break the taboo

No colour
No gender
No looks
apart from the individuals descriptions

Believe: I am female
I am male
without doing a cursory glance up
and down
believe: I am intelligent
I am creative
without checking my pigment or
my ****

because I am done with it
I am tired non-acceptance
Snap decisions
Stubborn judgements

it's nothing personal

No, you made it personal
You stole a personality
Smeared it
Said it was wrong
Said I didn't belong.

So I wish we were square and blue
No stereotypes
No stigmas
No ***
cos maybe we don't deserve it yet.
If all we see are
pigment
genitals
and stereotypes.

It's seemingly not enough
to curtly say what I've done
and truth be truly told,
there honestly hasn't been much

so thank you kindly
for craftily making it seem
like apparently there's so much more
than what's inherently me.

Dear generation

Why is it that what's in the media is all the craze?
Big lips , small waist seems what is it these days ,

How come
Education isn't important ?
When the images in your brain of life are distorted

You complain of migrants coming from ashore
Yet you aren't even aware of the difference between a refugee and a migrant for sure

Why do you laugh when you see someone different ?
How many of your brain cells are you missing?

Why do you joke at someones appearance
Ever think a stroke may be the interference

How come you think it's cool to have a friend who's gay?
But yet you question if being transgender is okay?

You point and giggle at the girl who is 'fat'
Ever consider a medical issue being the cause of that?

Dear generation

Why do you think everyone should be the same?
& judge someone for not wanting to play your games

Why can't we speak of things that are important..
racism, **** & crime of the sorts
Because these topics of conversation aren't cool of course

How come girls are ***** & ******
When who knows what happens with Guys behind closed doors..

How is that taking drugs at 13 has become normal ?
Yet you can't be Seen with your parents at a store though?

Dear generation

Take a step back think of what you've become,
We could change this mess for the future one by one..
Less of poetry more of a letter or questions to the generation, abit long I know .

If I don't want to be judged for being me,
I can't judge you for being you.
But you gotta return the same thing.

I went to the window
I saw your soul of night
there was no flicker of a flame
no redeeming light

I went to the window
the dragons that I saw
had red, green and glowing eyes
were hideously flawed

I went to the window
I watched, but didn't care
that you struggled every day
that you were in despair

I went to the window
I saw you in the glass
but I didn't pray for you
I thought, "this, too, shall pass..."

I went to the window
and thought with a frown
"this person of iniquity
is surely going down..."

I went to the window
oh, what did I see?
that window was a mirror

the person there was ME.

Sometimes the sin we see in
others is our OWN. And don't
that make it kinda difficult to

JUDGE???
Karen Hamilton Dec 2015
Who has the right
To stand and stare
Snarl at others
With piercing glares,
Who has the right
To cast a stone
Place themselves on
Pedestal's or
High on a throne?

For you and I
We cannot judge,
Neither of us
Are clear of mud
We make mistakes
We all grow old,
Fight to survive
The bitter cold;

Now. I'll ask again
But this time be true

One day those stones
May cast at you

To judge another is such a difficult subject, for me to tell you not to judge - would I then be judging you for doing so?

A cherry tree, heavy with fruit,

Once stood at the bottom of my garden

By the small pond filled with septic water

Disagreeably still. Ignoring it, over time, its

Fruit fell and decayed.

Over time its trunk became overwhelmed

With boles, its branches snapped.

Close by the rich soil

Was suffocated with weeds.

You should know by now that everyone see’s
what they want to see
Yeah, their own version of a fantasy

it’s so twisted, and conflicted
it’s so manic n’ sadistic
cause they’ll color you with love
then they'll color you with hate
you better run right now
cause time is run'n late
Oh, and girl --
You’ve met him a million times
Oh yeah,  you've memorized all his lines
cause, it’s a pattern that you know
called the one trick pony show

He likes his women dressed like dolls
(when he decides to finally call)
he rates you on a scale from one to ten
You say -- not this *&%# again!
before you hang up on the phone
you scream, "You're so creepy, and you're lame"
Whoops - I just forgot your name

you'd  end up being the bi*ch or,
you could end up being the saint
or, maybe it's so **** twisted
they really got so addicted
to all the pain, and the pleasure
(you were his little treasure)
that he so sadistically inflicted
Paint you, black —
Paint you, blue —

Yeah, paint you until he’s through
